The actor, who is already known to comic book fans as DC’s Black Manta in the Jason Momoa 'Aquaman' movies and for his memorable role in HBO’s 'Watchmen,' is in talks to star in 'Wonder Man,' Marvel’s latest Disney+ series.

00:00Yahya Abdul-Mateen II is in talks to join the Marvel Universe.
00:04The actor is already known to comic book fans as DC's Black Manta in the Aquaman movies starring Jason Momoa and for his memorable role in HBO's Watchmen.
00:13Now he's in talks to star in Wonder Man, Marvel's latest Disney Plus series.
00:17Destin Daniel Cretton, the filmmaker behind Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings,
00:22and Andrew Guest, a writer and producer on comedies such as Brooklyn Nine-Nine and Community, are spearheading the series.
00:28Guest is head writer of the series, while Cretton will executive produce and possibly direct an episode or more.
00:35Wonder Man is one of Marvel's oldest characters, first introduced in 1964 in the pages of Avengers No. 9.
00:42As for Abdul-Mateen, he last appeared opposite Jake Gyllenhaal in the Michael Bay action movie Ambulance.
00:47Before that, he appeared in The Matrix Resurrections and Candyman.
00:51He is due back as Black Manta in Warner Bros. DC movie Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, which is set to open December 25, 2023.
