00:00Here at TIFF, you're in the Midnight Madness section.
00:03Is it different to be at a festival when you're in this part at all?
00:07I don't know shit about festivals, so you'll have to answer that question.
00:13I think we're breaking tradition. I think it's the first time that a midnight screening has started at 1045.
00:19And I think at the stroke of midnight is when your character appears on screen.
00:24And when it sort of moves more into genre, which is kind of cool.
00:27It's perfectly timed.
00:28Yes.
00:30Brawl in Cell Block 99 is about a young man who's incredibly sensitive,
00:40but also happens to be extraordinarily violent.
00:44At a time where everyone's trying to fit into what they think is going to work,
00:47Zoller really kind of writes something very original that doesn't fit into a box.
00:52And as a result, I think it gets a very visceral response from people.
00:56You know, it's really a character movie that's set up.
00:59But then it has, like, great fighting elements.
01:01We did a lot of the fights in one take. It's very stylized.
01:04It's got some horror and thriller elements to it as well.
01:08Craig's got a great eye.
01:09You know, he was a cinematographer.
01:10He was an animator.
01:11He just is a jack of all trades.
01:13And so he really had specifics that he wanted to do.
01:15And the way that we did them would be, you know, 15, 20 combinations at one go.
01:21So you had to really be dialed in.
01:23And I just sort of went to work.
01:25You know, I had Bach some younger.
01:27And so I sort of revisited that in a much more serious way just to be fluid and to be comfortable.
01:32And I got in pretty good shape for the movie, which made it easier.
01:36But ultimately, you're kind of going through these sequences.
01:38And when you fill them, you have to really commit to them.
01:41So it was exciting.
01:42I think there was something about it that felt exciting doing it that way.
01:45But it was definitely different.
01:48I mean, you weren't breaking things up.
01:49And, you know, I wouldn't say that safety was the biggest concern.
01:52It's some of the best writing for cinema that I've ever encountered.
01:57And Vince is unrecognizable in that he transformed himself and does such a great job.
02:06Udo is amazing in the movie.
02:08You're going to like this movie when you see it.
02:10Oh.
02:11Unlike some of the exploitation films of the 70s, which it could be mistaken in the title for.
02:18Unlike that, which is just violence for violence's sake, Brawl and Cell Block 99 has real underpinnings
02:26and character underpinnings and real drama.
02:29It's Zoller.
02:30It's Craig Zoller.
02:32And anybody that knows anything about Craig Zoller's films, you're in for a treat.
02:41You're in for a treat.
02:43Like I.
02:44And at at the end of porn.
02:46But regardless of why I shall love an actress in my house, you tell me that you have more pracy.
02:51You always start playing a good programmer with an actress.
02:54And kids are doing too fast.
02:56Get the tennis Dafne underpinnings.
02:58And I'll come back the Eugene slash Mitar Mahnahme to become a better personality to my겠죠.
03:01I'm back!
03:02Wonder if they can be aБjaniker's life with aopl Grace.
03:04But soon, we'll come back later.
03:06Boo, please.
