00:00Is it the number one seeds going head-to-head, which again would be the Caleb Williams Chicago Bears against the Drake, Manuel, and Patriots?
00:09Okay, and I can't split the ticket. I have to just pick it.
00:11It's that. That's A.
00:14Or B, the two seven seeds, or eight seeds, excuse me, the teams that are on the outside looking in,
00:22which right now would be a Super Bowl of the Houston Texans against the Detroit Lions.
00:30Both of those teams right now are on the outside looking in.
00:33They're the eight seeds in the AFC and NFC, so they need to win games and get some help.
00:38But right now, Houston-Detroit or New England-Chicago, and that's the only choice you get.
00:46All right, now I have to look at the proven commodities when I do that.
00:49Drake May is playing great this year.
00:51Like, he's not dicking and dunking yet.
00:53He's completing 100% of his passes damn near.
00:55He's number one in 100 stats, but this is his first good year.
00:57And Caleb, so far, this is the first time he's looked like an NFL quarterback.
01:01And even Ben Johnson said we're winning in spite of our passing game, not because of it.
01:05It took a little shot.
01:06Right, it is a little shot to get him to play better.
01:07He's managing the game better, not making mistakes, but he's not making plays.
01:11On the flip side, I got a coach who I think is awesome in Houston.
01:15Okay, Tomiko Ryans is great.
01:17I think he's a great coach, and that defense is incredible.
01:20Maybe the second-best defense behind.
01:21You can argue that they're the best defense, too.
01:23Yeah, they're very good.
01:24Yep.
01:25And then the Lions, you have a coach who I do respect.
01:27You have a quarterback who's a veteran.
01:29Yeah, been to the Super Bowl.
01:30You have the best running back tandem as far as the two top running backs in the whole league.
01:35Yeah.
01:36I have to go with the two eight seeds over the two one seeds.
01:40And I'm with you on that as well.
01:41I think it's highly unlikely that New England and Chicago get to the Super Bowl.
01:46And I think right now, the Texans are one of the hotter teams.
01:49I know that New England's won 10 straight, and Denver, I think, has won nine straight.
01:53So, I totally respect that.
01:54But the Texans' defense is coming on like gangbusters.
01:58They get to the quarterback as well as anyone.
02:00You just got C.J. Stroud back.
02:02Obviously, he's got to play better.
02:04And they run the ball decently well.
02:05Not great.
02:07But their defense is killing it right now.
02:09On the flip side, you have the Detroit Lions.
02:11That's why tonight's game is so big.
02:13You know, whoever loses tonight's game, it's going to be very difficult for that team to get into the playoffs.
02:19Yeah.
02:19Because you also lose the head-to-head, and they're going to be vying against one another for that final wild card spot.
02:25Unless, of course, the Eagles totally tank and the Cowboys win that division, which is on the table right now.
02:30More on that coming up in a second.
02:31But this is why I think this year in the NFL is so awesome.
02:36The parity.
02:37You know, unless you're a Chiefs fan, it gets boring for everybody else and annoying that seven consecutive years, the Kansas City Chiefs are in the AFC Championship game.
02:48And they go to five Super Bowls, right?
02:50That's annoying to everybody else.
02:53So the fact that we sit here today getting ready for our first December weekend of football, and the eight seeds, two teams that are not currently in the postseason, have as good or better a chance of getting to the Super Bowl than the one seeds?
03:10That's awesome, because that means 16 teams, the way we're looking at it right now, have an opportunity to dream about winning a Super Bowl.
03:20That never happens.
03:22I love it.
03:23I love it in the short term.
03:25I do like the David versus Goliath thing.
03:27I do think that matters over the long term.
03:29But I think you need to reset.
03:31Who is the new Goliath?
03:33I don't think it exists right now.
03:34Right.
03:35I don't.
03:35But I think by the end of the year, we may, like for all we know, what if we're wrong about the, let's say the Patriots are really good and a new dynasty is going to start.
03:42You don't know a dynasty is going to start until it starts.
03:45Correct.
03:45So that's why I think I'm more, I'm intrigued for it for now.
03:49I want to hate somebody again next year.
03:50Yeah, and look, I think we're going to have a quarterback who wins the Super Bowl for the first time this year, which means that the Rams don't win it because Stafford's got the one.
03:57Yeah.
03:58Right?
03:58I think that's more likely than someone who's already won one, meaning Aaron Rodgers, obviously the Steelers aren't winning one.
04:04Um, Jalen Hurts, Jalen Hurts, Mahomes, obviously, Mahomes, obviously, yeah.
04:09I think there's a better shot that, you know, um, that you, that Justin Herbert wins one, Drake May wins one, uh, you know, Jared Goff wins one.
04:20And that's crazy to me that here we are with a month left in the season and you and I both agree that if I, I don't gamble, obviously you do.
04:28But if you were going to gamble and your only choices were the two ones or the two eights, that we would both take the two eights.
04:37Yeah.
04:37I don't remember another year in my lifetime where that was the case with a month to go in an NFL season.
04:43And the, but the point of that is even though Denver has got a great record and new England's got a great record and the bears have a great record, et cetera, et cetera, et cetera.
04:51The reality is this, there is not a dominant team in the NFL right now.
