Producer Brad Fuller explains the differences and challenges he faced when filming 'A Quiet Place: Day One' compared to filming the first two films. Plus, he teases partnering up with Post Malone for a new project.
Transcript
00:00You were heavily involved in the last two films, what was different and what
00:04were some challenges that you overcame in creating this new film?
00:07Well this is a much bigger movie than the
00:09preceding two, just in terms of the scope and you know the the set we built to
00:15replicate New York was a huge challenge. And then you know to keep it fresh after
00:21a couple movies is always a challenge, that's the biggest challenge I guess is
00:25how do you keep this as something that people really want to see and so that's
00:29something that we really talked a lot about? And why do you think that Joseph
00:33and Lupita are the perfect leads for this film? Well it's easy to say that they
00:37are right now, but I mean they're both great actors, but as great as actors as
00:42they are, their chemistry is amazing and you can't ever bet on that when
00:47you're casting two people who don't know each other, that's something that kind
00:50of organically happened on set and I think it makes the movie, it creates a
00:56more emotional bond for the audience when they see that because they
00:59authentically really like each other I mean in a real way.
01:02I love that and also when everything is so quiet on set when the cameras are
01:07rolling, how is it behind the scenes? Does it translate over is it or is it just cut
01:12and then everyone just starts chatting away? It's so loud this movie you know cars
01:16exploding and it's just the smoke machines are really loud so it's rarely very quiet.
01:22You just create that illusion for us the audience but meanwhile while you're rolling it's just mayhem.
01:27That's correct, that's correct. I love that. Also of course John was very heavily involved
01:32the last two films. What part did he play this time and how involved was he in the whole process?
01:38You know in many ways John is the architect of this franchise and you know he set the tone
01:43with the first two films and um I think you know Michael Sarnofsky was John's idea. Lupita was John's
01:50idea. I mean John has very classy good tastes and we all benefit from that. Finally I wanted to ask
01:56you and Michael are partnering up with Post Malone for a new project. What is it like and what can you
02:01tell us about it? What's it like collaborating with Post Malone? Well listen I've only had a couple meetings
02:05so I can't really tell you and we're working on what it's going to be but it's based on a graphic novel
02:10and he he's like he's like a dude. A lot of creative ideas that he brings to the table. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
