00:00Golden Bachelor star Gary Turner is finally speaking out about the reports of his secret girlfriend.

00:06One day ahead of the finale, The Hollywood Reporter published an exposé

00:10detailing how the first Golden Bachelor's past was a bit different than what was presented on the show.

00:15Turner had claimed that he hadn't dated since his wife's tragic death in 2017,

00:20but a former girlfriend disputed this, saying they dated for almost two years and lived together.

00:25Turner spoke to reporters following the finale of his show,

00:28and among other things, discussed the exposé.

00:31He told Katie Couric,

00:33The New York Times previously asked Turner if the story was accurate, and he replied,

00:48I guess I haven't really looked at how accurate it is.

00:51I've more looked at it in terms of timing, and how it really doesn't fit with all of the positive things that are going on in my life right now.

00:58As for reports that Turner lied about his occupation, the reality show portrayed him as a retired restaurateur,

01:04but didn't note he more recently worked as a handyman.

01:06The comments about what I did later in life,

01:10I did those after I retired.

01:12I retired at 55, and I was very happy giving back to the community and doing things that were worth something to other people.

01:18I mean, geez, I didn't work as a handyman for the money.

01:21I did it because I knew I was doing something good for people who needed help.

01:25Turner's season, meanwhile, ended with an engagement with his final pick, Teresa Nist,

01:29and a wedding announcement with the ceremony to be televised January 4th on ABC.
