00:00Congratulations to both of you on such a successful press run so far and having this film come
00:05out. How does it feel reading, I don't know if you've read the reviews or not, but they're
00:09glowing. So how does it feel putting this film out there?
00:12Listen, I heard that the reviews are positive. I'm very pleased with that. I can't wait
00:18to share the movie with the world. I can't wait for the audience to watch. That's going
00:21to be the true test for me.
00:23Of course. I also wanted to ask, were there any lessons you learned from the first one
00:27that you wanted to do a little bit differently in part two for both of you?
00:31On my side, sorry, on my side, multiple. It would be too long to enumerate, but as a film
00:36director, there's so many things that you learn from your mistakes and each movie is a learning
00:43process. So of course, I try to improve a lot as a director between both movies. Yes.
00:52It's a very supportive production. And I would say that legendary Mary Parent, who's one of
00:56the producers, allowed me to become a full producer on this film. And therefore, it was
01:00a bigger title, more responsibility. And I was, you know, I wanted to rise up to this
01:06honor and the responsibility. So it's truly a wonderful experience.
01:09I love that. Well, I know another big surprise during the press run was Anya Taylor-Joy announced
01:15as joining the cast. What was it like keeping that a secret? And what was the reason behind
01:19keeping it under wraps? I think that Hollywood is the most gossip town
01:23on earth. And I wanted as an experiment to see how long we could keep a secret. No, but
01:28yeah, we did it. It was like, we did the, like, it was a special unit. We went into, we went
01:34in Africa, in Namibia to shoot with Anya under super secrecy. And I just love the idea to keep
01:40something like a surprise for the audience until the very end. It was just a way, it was like
01:45a gift that I wanted to keep for the fans.
01:50Another person joined the cast, Austin Butler. I know you mentioned that he went 25% method
01:56for this. So what was it like directing him when he's in the mindset of such an evil character?
02:01It was really frightening. I mean, when we were, I was, the camera was rolling. It was witnessing
02:08like a total metamorphosis, like someone that he was really becoming like evil, psychotic,
02:15sexy, serial killer. It was like a very mind blowing to see such a sweetheart becoming so
02:22ugly and evil in a split second like that. That was, yeah, it was something to witness.
02:27Oh my gosh. Yeah. I can't even imagine. I finally, I just wanted to quickly ask about Dune Messiah.
02:33Where are we in the process? It's a, we are in the writing process.
02:38I just finished part. We just finished part two. So I, I need the time to, to write it.
02:44Those movies are not easy to write. It's like, it's a, I would just add though,
02:50that seeing the enthusiasm of the fans to a potential part three has been inspiring.
02:56Um, I think, can you say that? Absolutely. Absolutely.
02:59Well, I'm sure it's a big undertaking too.
03:01Yes. Yes. It's, it's, uh, I just think that, uh, I agreed to make part one and part two back to back.
03:07And, uh, now I think I will need just to, to digest all this experience and, and, um, find a,
03:14I just want to come back with a strong screenplay. It's almost done, but it needs work a bit.
03:19A little bit more time. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
03:21Well, thank you so much for both stopping by. Congratulations.
03:24Thank you so much. Congratulations.
