Tom Hanks hosted a star-packed event titled 'Celebrating America' on Wednesday night to close inauguration day and honor the new administration of President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris.

00:00Inauguration Day is about much more than the swearing-in of our next national leaders.
00:07This day is about witnessing the permanence of our American ideal.
00:12Tom Hanks hosted a star-packed event titled Celebrating America on Wednesday night
00:16to close Inauguration Day and honor the new administration of President Joe Biden
00:21and Vice President Kamala Harris.
00:23Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, a traditional black-tie inaugural ball was replaced
00:27by a televised and streamed program featuring a slew of big-name performers and actors
00:32that allowed the country to celebrate as one united audience.
00:35Bruce Springsteen kicked off the event from the Lincoln Memorial on the National Mall
00:39in Washington, D.C. by singing Land of Hope and Dreams.
00:42Through fields where sunlight streams
00:46John Legend also performed in D.C., treating viewers to feeling good.
00:54And I'm feeling good
00:57Other musical acts who performed throughout the program
01:01from multiple cities around the country
01:03included Bon Jovi with Here Comes the Sun from Miami.
01:06Choo-choo, here comes the sun
01:10And I say it's all right
01:14Justin Timberlake and Aunt Clemens sang Better Days from Memphis.
01:17Better days are coming
01:19And country stars Tim McGraw and Tyler Hubbard took the stage in Nashville
01:26with a message of unity, performing their song Undivided.
01:29Let the glory unite us to this country that we love

01:36And that's just to name a few.
01:38Other big names who made appearances throughout the event included
01:41Kerry Washington, Eva Longoria, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Ozuna, Luis Fonsi, Demi Lovato,
01:48The Black Pumas, and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.
01:51Frontline workers and everyday heroes were also featured throughout the celebration.
01:54Plus, both Biden and Harris delivered remarks with the president speaking first.
01:59I've never been more optimistic about America than I am this very day.
02:03There isn't anything we can't do if we do it together.
02:07Harris came later in the program.
02:09She said,
02:10Even in dark times, we not only dream, we do.
02:21We not only see what has been, we see what can be.
02:26Katy Perry closed out the show with her number one hit, Firework, as no surprise the DC sky
02:31was lit up with a colorful display.
