00:00Billy Bush is returning to television.
00:02The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed that the former NBC Today and Access Hollywood
00:06host is set to anchor Extra Extra, a revamp of the syndicated entertainment show
00:11which will debut this fall when Extra moves to Fox.
00:14This will be the host's first gig since he was let go from the network in 2016
00:18after the infamous Access Hollywood tape leaked of him speaking with then-apprentice
00:22host Donald Trump.
00:23The controversial footage, obtained and published by The Washington Post about a month
00:27before the 2016 election, shows Trump bragging about kissing women without their
00:31permission and uttering the now infamous line, grabbing them by the .
00:36Bush was heard throughout the tape laughing and egging on the then-apprentice star
00:39as Trump basically bragged about sexual assault.
00:42Both Bush and Trump initially apologized to the tape, but later the now president
00:46famously dismissed the incident as locker room talk.
00:49Trump went on to win the November 2016 election, meanwhile Bush was suspended
00:53and ultimately let go from today.
00:55Bush spoke to THR back in May of 2017 about the incident saying,
00:59looking back on what was said on that bus, I wish I had changed the topic.
01:03I didn't have the strength of character to do it.
01:05The host also spoke to People more recently since news of his new gig broke,
01:09saying that he's changed in the two and a half years since he left today.
01:12The guy that left the scene in 2016 was already a changed person since 2005,
01:17but I had the opportunity to grow up a little bit.
01:19Facing adversity in some way is good, and I'll feel I'll be better at my job than I ever was.
01:24This is my next step.
01:26Extra Extra is set to premiere September 9th and will feature a modernized set
01:30and an in-depth look at pop culture, sports and politics.
01:33Meanwhile, it was announced in December that Extra is moving from its longtime home
01:37on NBC owned and operated stations to Fox in the fall.
