On Thursday, transcripts of President Donald Trump’s phone calls with two world leaders leaked, and late-night hosts weighed in with their thoughts.
Transcript
00:00Trump was calling all the world leaders, you know, getting to know him.
00:03Hi, hello. Hi, my name's Donald. I like to eat steak.
00:09On Thursday, transcripts of President Donald Trump's phone calls with two world leaders leaked.
00:14And I think that's what's known as a slow pitch over the plate for our favorite late-night hosts.
00:19Baseball reference? Yes.
00:21Anyway, there was plenty of choice material to knock out of the park,
00:25particularly Trump's comment about local milk people
00:29and his attempt to get the Mexican president to be on the same page as him.
00:32On CBS's Late Show with Stephen Colbert, the host scolded Trump for calling New Hampshire
00:36a drug-infested den in his call with Mexican President Peña Nieto.
00:41Colbert said,
00:45It's like being a parent. You have to love all the states equally, even if one of them is Eric.
00:53Trump was teased mercilessly on the Internet for telling Australian Prime Minister Turnbull
00:57that the refugees Turnbull was asking Trump to take in, per a previous deal with Obama,
01:02would not be the kind of people who would work for the local milk people.
01:07Said Colbert,
01:08For someone who talks constantly about representing the forgotten men and women,
01:13the little people working the little jobs, Trump can't even remember the job dairy farmer.
01:19On Comedy Central's The Daily Show, Trevor Noah referred to Thursday as a terrible day for Trump.
01:24The host also brought up the president's leaked calls with Turnbull and Nieto.
01:28He mocks Trump for telling the Mexican president that he thinks his people will say something
01:32similar but in a slightly different language.
01:36Noah made a confused face and said he's pretty sure Spanish is a completely different language.
01:42Trump is like a guy in high school walking up to a girl and he's like,
01:45Hey, Sarah, right, yeah, we've got a problem, so I told everybody we're dating and,
01:49uh, yeah, we gotta figure this out.
01:52Over at NBC's late night, Seth Meyers defended New Hampshire and noted that he grew up in the state.
01:57Don't call it a drug-infested den, said Meyers.
02:00It's New England.
02:01It's a drug-infested inn.
02:03Meyers laughed about the fact that Trump had asked Nieto to tell the press that they are
02:06on the same page when it comes to the wall, likening it to a guy talking to his friend
02:11on their way home from a bachelor party.
02:13We cannot say we went to a strip club.
02:15Your wife will ask and my wife will ask and it's best if we just say we had some steak
02:20and we went to bed early.
02:21Over at NBC's The Tonight Show, host Jimmy Fallon also brought up
02:25Trump calling American dairy farmers the local milk people.
02:28Even worse, we referred to cows as spotted milk horsies.
02:31And I go with that.
02:32To watch the full segments on the late night host's reactions to the Trump calls,
