00:00Trump and Russia is a made-up story.
00:02Then I said to myself, make sure you don't say that on TV.
00:07President Donald Trump is being personally investigated for obstruction of justice,
00:12and surprise, TV's late-night hosts were armed with jokes
00:16about both the investigation and Trump's defensive response.
00:20After revelations that special counsel Robert Mueller is examining
00:24whether Trump obstructed justice by firing FBI Director James Comey,
00:28the president rattled off a few tweets Thursday morning.
00:31Shocker.
00:32He wrapped up the flurry with this.
00:35I am being investigated for firing the FBI Director
00:38by the man who told me to fire the FBI Director?
00:42Witch hunt.
00:43Over on CBS's The Late Show, Stephen Colbert called the president
00:46being under a criminal investigation a historic moment.
00:50And the host said Mueller is not kidding around with his all-star legal team,
00:54calling Mueller Batman, and the rest of them, well...
00:57putting together The Flash, Green Lantern, and Wonder Woman
01:00to create the obstruction of justicity.
01:05As for Trump's repeated insistence that Mueller is on a witch hunt,
01:09Colbert agreed that he could totally see it,
01:11comparing the situation to the Salem witch trials,
01:13except this time, as Colbert put it,
01:15they did witchcraft in an interview with Lester Holt.
01:19On ABC's Jimmy Kimmel Live, Kimmel invited an actual witch,
01:22or a remarkable fake, played by Andy Samberg at least,
01:25I say it was real, to talk about the news.
01:29Oh, no, of course not.
01:30I've been hunted, and it's nothing like this.
01:33Over at NBC's Late Night, Seth Meyers laughed at the timing
01:37of Mueller's obstruction of justice case announcement,
01:39given Trump's complete vindication tweet
01:42in response to James Comey's testimony just a few days earlier.
01:46Meyers said Trump and his lawyer were quick to prove him right,
01:48concluding that Trump is the king of spiking the ball
01:52at the six-yard line.
01:54We're not in the end zone yet, but...
01:56His timing is amazing.
01:57I swear, if he tweeted,
01:58only fat losers step on rakes,
02:01this would be the next thing to happen.
02:04On CBS's The Late Late Show,
02:06James Corden wasn't aware at this point
02:08of any justice Trump has obstructed,
02:10but was very clear about what the president has done.
02:13I'll tell you what he has obstructed,
02:15my ability to talk about anything other than Trump,
02:18every night on this show.
02:20On TBS's Conan, Conan O'Brien said news
02:23that President Trump is under investigation
02:25for obstruction of justice was officially confirmed
02:27when President Trump said he is not
02:30under investigation for obstruction of justice.
02:32Obstruction of justice, that's how you know
02:33it's really happening.
02:34Yeah, yeah, he denied it.
02:36Meanwhile, on NBC's Tonight Show,
02:38Jimmy Fallon speculated that the Trump investigation
02:40could end up costing him the presidency.
02:43Trump's response?
02:44Okay, now give me the bad news.
02:45Make sure to head to THR.com
02:49for the full late-night bits,
02:51including The Daily Show's Trevor Noah,
