Late-night hosts dug into former White House aide Omarosa Manigault-Newman's recent bombshell announcements that she had recorded conversations during her time working for President Donald Trump and her labeling of the president as a "racist."
Transcript
00:00Omarosa! How can you say that about the president three years after we all said that about the
00:06president? The view between President Donald Trump and former White House aide Omarosa
00:11Manigault Newman has been getting increasingly heated in the wake of her shocking announcement
00:15that she had recorded conversations during her time working for Trump and her labeling of the
00:20president as a racist. Trump lashed out at his former colleague on Twitter, calling her
00:24wacky and deranged, and later referring to her as a dog.
00:27On their Monday shows, a late-night host took some time to address the situation and to poke fun
00:32at the feuding pair. On CBS's The Late Show, Stephen Colbert noted that Omarosa was just the
00:37latest in a long line of disgruntled former Trump administration employees.
00:41The White House is basically a reboot of The Last Supper, Oops All Judases.
00:46Showing a clip of Omarosa on Sunday's Meet the Press, during which she called Trump a racist,
00:50Colbert said her most shocking allegation is that she heard a tape where Donald Trump used the N-word.
00:55The guy who refused to rent to black tenants said that a Nazi Klan rally had some fine people and
01:01called Africa a s**hole is a racist.
01:03Over on NBC's Late Night, Seth Meyers dedicated much of his Closer Look segment to Omarosa and Trump.
01:09Now that he's bogged down in a ridiculous feud with an aide who's as good as he is at orchestrating
01:14a reality show spectacle, Trump is suddenly slamming the credibility of somebody who was once one of
01:18his closest confidants, Meyers said. You know what made Omarosa look legitimate? Putting her in the White House.
01:24I can't wait until Trump's forced to resign and President Mike Pence tweets,
01:28please ignore this disgruntled employee, he has no credibility.
01:31Over at The Daily Show on Comedy Central, Trevor Noah was quick to poke fun at Omarosa for taking so long
01:36to realize Trump's shortcomings. Seriously though, Omarosa had to spend a year in the White House to learn that
01:41Donald Trump doesn't know what he's doing, Noah questioned.
01:43I can't wait for her next book. Donald Trump, something's wrong with his hair.
01:48Meanwhile, after Omarosa released a recording of Trump expressing his disbelief that she was fired,
01:53Noah admitted that he wasn't entirely convinced by the president's frustrations, noting,
01:57For a man who lies as much as Trump, you'd think he'd be better at it.
02:00Noah further argued,
02:01What is shocking is how many people are secretly recording the President of the United States
02:06all the time. I'm surprised there's not feedback loops to everyone. In fact, Noah
02:10news that so many people have recordings of Trump these days, there should be a Grammy
02:14category dedicated to the genre.
02:16And the award goes to, oh, Adele! Surprise, it's Adele actually.
02:21Back on NBC, Tonight Show host Jimmy Fallon addressed the feud by reminding his audience that
02:25while there was a new episode of Bachelor in Paradise that night…
02:28But if you really want to see some reality stars, go at it on TV. Just check out Omarosa
02:32and President Trump.
02:33Speaking about Manigault Newman's memoir, Unhinged, in which she claims Trump has mentally
02:37declined, Fallon quipped,
02:39Trump was furious. He said,
02:40This book is an outrage. And wait, what were we talking about?
02:43Fallon then played an audio recording of Omarosa being fired by General John Kelly in the
02:47White House Situation Room, which she shared while visiting Meet the Press.
02:50Turns out, anytime someone asks,
02:52Is the president aware of what's going on? Kelly says,
02:54Let's not go down that road, Fallon joked.
02:56Experts said nobody's ever made a recording in that room. And then one guy said,
03:01That you'll know about.
03:02And on CBS's Late Late Show, James Corden noted the irony of Kelly telling Omarosa
03:07that she was fired due to,
03:08Significant integrity issues.
03:10And nothing says,
03:11I don't have integrity issues like recording your boss in the Top Secret Situation Room.
03:16Corden then shared the phone conversation between Manigault Newman and Trump,
03:20in which the president revealed that he didn't know his former aide had been fired.
03:24I wasn't sure if the recording was real or not until the part where Trump admits
03:28he doesn't know what's going on in the White House.
03:31And finally, on ABC's Jimmy Kimmel Live, the host noted,
03:34If Omarosa was able to get secret recordings of Trump,
03:37Vladimir Putin knows every porn star name that he's ever whispered.
