Transcript
00:00The press secretary is hiding in some shrubbery.
00:04Did I miss anything?
00:06After President Donald Trump's firing of FBI Director James Comey Tuesday,
00:10White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer gave a brief interview to Fox Business
00:14from the White House grounds, and then he vanished.
00:17Poof!
00:17Suddenly, and perhaps magically, the press secretary was gone.
00:21Or was he?
00:22The Washington Post reported that Spicer disappeared into the shadows,
00:26huddling with his staff near a clump of bushes,
00:28and then behind a tall hedge.
00:30On Wednesday night, late-night TV got its turn on Comey's firing,
00:34Spicer in the bushes, and then some.
00:36On Jimmy Kimmel Live, Jimmy Kimmel explained what he thought may have been happening
00:40as Spicer headed off the grounds.
00:42Sometimes you gotta stop and smell the rose garden, said Kimmel.
00:45He went on to predict what could come next in more vanishing tales of the press secretary.
00:50Sean Spicer's about two weeks away from throwing down a smoke bomb
00:53and disappearing like Batman.
00:55I just pictured that. Thanks, Jimmy.
00:56Ba-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na Spiceman.
00:59After calling Spicer the original boss baby,
01:01The Late Show host Stephen Colbert recapped the report
01:04and then hid in his own set of bushes.
01:09During her, our weekly Constitutional Crisis segment,
01:12Full Frontal's Samantha Bee explained Spicer's head's move
01:14really happened because he'd rather get Lyme disease
01:17than talk to the press.
01:19I don't want to talk to you.
01:21I'm just going to pick these bugs out of me over here.
01:23Over on The Late Late Show, host James Corden, meanwhile,
01:26joked that the Russians were surprised to hear the Spicer news
01:29as they thought Trump was the only plant in the White House.
01:32Spicer hiding in the bushes wasn't the only thing
01:34late-night hosts hacked at Wednesday night.
01:36After skewering Trump over the firing itself,
01:39most shows also collectively recapped Anderson Cooper's eye roll
01:42while talking to Kellyanne Conway on CNN.
01:45Late-night Seth Meyers applauded the viral eye roll,
01:47calling it epic.
01:48The only silver lining to that interview
01:51is that we got one of the most epic eye rolls
01:53in cable news history.
01:55James Corden couldn't contain his laughter
01:57over Cooper's reaction, pointing out,
01:59never has one eye roll said so much for so many.
02:02Even 14-year-old mean girls were like,
02:05that was so impressive.
02:07Let's bring it back to Jimmy Kimmel,
02:09where he at first hoped Conway was like Spicer
02:11and had run away.
02:12But as it turned out, Conway, according to Kimmel,
02:15is back and better than ever.
