Gayle King on Thursday morning took to social media to express her disappointment in CBS after the network shared a small portion of her interview with Kobe Bryant's friend and former WNBA star Lisa Leslie.

00:00I've been up reading the comments about the interview I did with Lisa Leslie about Kobe Bryant.

00:10Lisa Leslie on CBS This Morning. King took to her Instagram on Thursday morning to

00:14express her disappointment in CBS after the network shared a small portion of her

00:19interview with Leslie, a former WNBA icon and the late basketball legend's close friend.

00:24The anchor received backlash for the interview since it looked as though King

00:27was unnecessarily questioning Leslie about Bryant's sexual assault case from 2003.

00:33I know that if I had only seen the clip that you saw, I'd be extremely angry with me too.

00:40In the clip, King spoke with Leslie about Bryant's sexual assault case that was later

00:44settled out of court in 2005, saying it's been said that his legacy is complicated

00:48because of a sexual assault charge that was dismissed in 03-04.

00:52Is it complicated for you as a woman, as a WNBA player?

00:57Leslie replied, saying it's not complicated for me at all. I just never see, have ever seen him

01:02being the kind of person that would be, do something to violate a woman or be aggressive

01:06in that way. That's just not the person that I know.

01:09King then followed up.

01:10But Lisa, you wouldn't see it though. As his friend, you wouldn't see it.

01:14And that's possible.

01:15The CBS This Morning anchor said she was mortified, embarrassed and angry, noting,

01:20unbeknownst to me, my network put up a clip from a very wide-ranging interview, totally taken

01:25out of context, and when you see it that way, it's very jarring. It's jarring to me.

01:29I didn't even know anything about it.

01:31Both fans and stars found King's questioning disrespectful, with notable names such as

01:36Snoop Dogg and Vivica A. Fox criticizing the CBS This Morning co-anchor.

01:40King went on to explain her side of things, explaining in part,

01:43I reached out to Lisa, because I know she's a longtime friend of Kobe's, to talk about

01:47his legacy and their friendship. We had a really wide-ranging interview, talked about

01:51many things, his career, his passion, his sense of humor, the way he was mentoring

01:56other people, how he was starting his next chapter. It was wide-ranging.

02:00The anchor notes that she never imagined CBS would post the clip out of context,

02:04and said she plans to have a quote, very intense discussion with the network.
