The former NBA superstar and current analyst told the TBS host of 'Conan' that 2020 has been a tremendously hard year for him with the deaths of his sister and Kobe Bryant.
Transcript
00:00This is my toughest year, and I don't complain about anything, but lost my baby sister, lost my good friend.
00:07Shaquille O'Neal opened up more about the death of Kobe Bryant when he appeared on Conan O'Brien's TBS show, Conan, on Wednesday.
00:14The former NBA superstar and current analyst told Conan that he was in denial when he first learned his Lakers teammate,
00:20along with Kobe's daughter and seven other people, were killed in a helicopter crash on January 26th,
00:25so he closed himself off from everyone.
00:27When he first passed away, I couldn't believe it. I watched every playoff game that we ever played.
00:32He continued,
00:33I just sat in my room and told people I don't want to talk to anyone.
00:37Kobe was posthumously elected to the NBA Hall of Fame, but Shaq told Conan he doubts he will be able to handle watching the ceremony.
00:43I probably won't watch that because it's not going to be the same without him.
00:47Only way I'll watch it is if his beautiful wife gives a speech or if his mother and father gives a speech on his behalf.
00:53Elsewhere in the interview, Shaq once again addressed appearing in the popular Netflix series Tiger King,
00:59reiterating he only made donations to the zoo and was not friends with the Tiger King himself, Joe Exotic.
01:04America, I do not harm animals. I love animals.
