00:19During a recent appearance at Columbia University, Jay was asked to talk more about his sports agency

00:24as well as the passing of Kobe Bryant. In response, Jay-Z opened up about his last conversation with

00:30Kobe which happened around New Year's Day. He said, one of the last things Kobe said to me was,

00:34you gotta see Gianna play basketball. That was one of the most hurtful things because he was so proud.

00:39I looked at him and said, oh, she's going to be the best female basketball player in the world.

00:44Jay concluded, he was just a great human being and was in a great space in life.

00:48Nicki Minaj also reacted to Kobe's passing during a recent event. The rapper was on stage being

00:53interviewed by her manager for a Polestar Live panel and got visibly emotional at the mention

00:58of Kobe's name. In the clip, Minaj takes a moment of silence as she gathers her thoughts.

01:03Afterwards, with tears running down her cheek, Nicki sends her condolences to Vanessa and the rest

01:08of the Bryant family. And speaking of Vanessa, she's been reflecting on the loss of Gigi and Kobe

01:17Kobe did with Extra where he says his wife is his best friend, and multiple moments from the Jersey

01:22retirement ceremony at Gianna's private school. Adding to this, Vanessa has requested some of

01:26the items left by thousands of fans at the makeshift memorial at Staples Center be sent to her.

01:31Workers began to dismantle the memorial on Monday and have reportedly collected 1,353 basketballs,

01:3814 banners, 25,000 candles, 5,000 letters, signs, and flags, 500 stuffed animals, and hundreds of shoes,

01:46as well as a 40-yard bin filled with flowers that will be made into mulch and spread throughout

01:51the landscaping of Staples Center. But okay, earlier this week CBS released a teaser from

01:56Gayle King's interview with WNBA star Lisa Leslie, in which King asked if Bryant's legacy is quote

02:02complicated because of his 2003 sexual assault case. Since the clip was posted, Gayle has received

02:08a ton of backlash from people who say the question was insensitive and inappropriate. This morning,

02:13Gayle King reacted to all the negative comments in a video and said the clip was taken out of context.

02:18I know that if I had only seen the clip that you saw, I'd be extremely angry with me too. I am

02:26mortified. I'm embarrassed. And I am very angry. Unbeknownst to me, my network put up a clip from a

02:35very wide ranging interview. Totally taken out of context. And when you see it that way, it's very

02:43jarring. It's jarring to me. I didn't even know anything about it. I started getting calls.

02:47What the hell are you doing? Why did you say this? What is happening? I did not know what
