02:57Welcome back, everybody.
02:58First time welcome to Kim Kardashian.
02:59Hello.
03:00Thank you for having me.
03:01Lovely to see you.
03:02I'm very happy to see that is a sitting-down dress.
03:04I saw you backstage and I thought,
03:05will that be a sitting-down dress?
03:07But it's good.
03:08I'm praying that it is.
03:09Sorry.
03:10It's not.
03:11So what is it?
03:13So we can see through it.
03:15You can.
03:16It's by Dallara.
03:17It's like latex.
03:18I think Sarah said it best.
03:20It's like a condom with a doily underneath it.
03:22Beautiful.
03:24I'm wearing a couch and she's wearing a condom.
03:27And now, Rachel, am I right that you and Kim met at the Academy Museum?
03:40Gala?
03:41Gala?
03:42We were at the same table.
03:43I didn't see her.
03:44No, I couldn't see anyone.
03:47Before you get over there, this is Rachel, who's on the host committee.
03:51I was hosting, yeah.
03:52You're on the host committee as Rachel, looking lovely.
03:55Now, you're thinking, why couldn't Kim see Rachel?
03:58This is Kim.
03:59Kim couldn't see anyone.
04:01You know what?
04:02I really wanted to commit.
04:05Before I walked out, I was in the car and I was about to put the mask on and I text my sister Kylie a picture and I said, should I wear the mask or go in and take it off or just wear it at the table and pretend to not eat or something?
04:18And she said, commit.
04:20And so I could see through it a little bit and I saw your hair and the color of your dress.
04:26And I knew it was you and then I felt so awkward going up to people like, hi.
04:30It's me.
04:31It's Kim.
04:32It's Kim.
04:33The photo looks like you're in the witness protection room.
04:37But still wants to do the red carpet, god damn it.
04:42Still looks fabulous.
04:43And I did have like a full two and a half hour hair and makeup, full glam under there.
04:49Wow.
04:50What was the pitch that when the designer said, and the final piece, you're going to love it, is a mask.
04:59It was a runway piece.
05:00Yeah.
05:01Like how it was on the runway and I really loved it.
05:03And it was just, it's his vision.
05:05It was Glen Martin at Margiela's vision and I wanted to honor his vision.
05:08Yeah.
05:09Gorgeous.
05:10And your shoulder makeup, we get to see that.
05:11It was lovely.
05:12Your shoulders have never been finer.
05:13Glowing.
05:14Glowing.
05:15Yes.
05:16And Brian and Sarah, I know you've met because Brian, you gave Sarah her Emmy.
05:19Yes, I did.
05:20And I was pleased to do it.
05:22I'm trying to remember which one.
05:24I've only won one.
05:25That's the one.
05:27That was the one.
05:28I liked the compliment though.
05:29I'll take it.
05:30I'll take it.
05:31Yeah, I, I, you did hand me my Emmy and you don't remember the face that I gave you?
05:34When I, cause I was climbing the stairs.
05:36Yes.
05:37Living in like an apoplectic terror that I was going to face plant.
05:40Yes.
05:41And so.
05:42And that's why I, oh yeah.
05:43You see this but what you're not seeing is that I'm looking at you like, get up here.
05:47And I was like really giving him the old, the old what for in the eyeballs.
05:52And what's sweet is that Brian would say, which one?
05:54He has seven.
05:55I know.
05:56Seven.
05:57How dare you?
05:58How dare you?
05:59How dare you?
06:00How dare you?
06:01How dare you?
06:02They're all.
06:03You just won your latest, you just won your latest for the studio.
06:07Yeah.
06:08Which you are so good in.
06:09So good.
06:10You are so good.
06:11A kind of big studio, Uber boss.
06:13Yeah.
06:14And there's that mad final show in the series where, is it mushrooms you're on?
06:18I'm, I'm on all kinds.
06:20That's, I, yeah, I'm wearing a, I'm wearing a phallus hat and I'm eating, I'm eating a lobster.
06:27I'm absolutely supposed to be out of my mind high.
06:32I love this next picture.
06:33Let's see the, this is you.
06:34I love that.
06:35And that's.
06:36Weekend at Bernie's or something.
06:38Really, yeah.
06:39They did a Weekend at Bernie's tribute to try to get me up and out of the way.
06:43And so we're, we're doing the scene and, and the way Seth Rogen works on this show is fantastic.
06:48You all got to say yes when they call you because you have to get out the plot points,
06:53but then say whatever you want, do whatever you're, you're playing the whole time and throwing out ideas.
06:59And one time on the, this last episode, I was in, inside the fountain at the Venetian hotel in Las Vegas.
07:08And there was this Venetian woman and it was like, oh my God, she was beautiful.
07:14And, and I was, you know, first kissing her and the next take I was, I was fondling her and the next take she was fondling me.
07:22And, and at one point I thought, I'm just going to try to make the writers laugh because now it's take 16.
07:29And, um, well, I started copulating this statue.
07:34Oh yeah.
07:35Yeah.
07:36And, yeah.
07:37And so.
07:38And it won you an Emmy.
07:39No.
07:40Note to self.
07:42When in doubt, copulate.
07:45So I, and it was like an interesting thing because I just wanted to make them laugh and that's the take they used.
07:52I didn't, I didn't realize they were going to use it at the end.
07:55Didn't realize.
07:56Yeah.
07:57They can't ignore these moves.
08:01Listen, let's get started.
08:04Kim Kardashian and Sarah Paulson are together in the new legal drama series All's Fair.
08:10It starts here on the 4th of November on Disney Plus.
08:14And now there's a lot of excitement about this.
08:16The trailer was the most watched trailer on Hulu of all time.
08:20200 million views.
08:22Ladies and gentlemen.
08:23Woo!
08:24Uh, let's.
08:25200 million?
08:26Let's, let's add, let's add to those numbers by, uh, watching a bit of the trailer now.
08:31Yay!
08:32Here we go.
08:33Boy, do I love coming here.
08:36Walking down that hallway shaped like a clown's cervix.
08:40Beef curtains.
08:42Black Mae West.
08:43As much as I'd love to continue to exchange pleasant cocktail pleasantries, there is a war to be won.
08:53God, I love my job.
08:55Look at that.
08:56Look at that.
08:57Look at that.
08:58Look at that.
08:59Look at that.
09:00I tell my clients every day,
09:01I never really know a person.
09:03It's just a trap.
09:04Guess who's here with me right now?
09:06Jay, say bye-bye to your future ex-wife.
09:10Bye-bye.
09:11See you in court, you poor discarded.
09:14Let's slide her on fire.
09:17This is showtime, lady.
09:22Love and war.
09:24Before you comment on my new appearance, please know that this look is mine.
09:28Nothing more than next Halloween's costume, where I will be dressing as a whore lawyer.
09:41Nice job.
09:43This is written and directed by Ryan Murphy, who you've both worked with before.
09:47Sarah, you've worked with him so much.
09:49So many times, he's like the only person who continues to hire me.
09:54So let's get into it.
09:55It's an all-female law firm.
09:57Yeah.
09:58Who do you play, Kim?
09:59I play Elora Grant, and we used to work at the same firm, but we leave her.
10:04Behind, which is what turns you into that person.
10:06Very bitter.
10:07Yes.
10:08And it's me, Niecy Nash and Naomi Watts, with our mentor Glenn Close.
10:12Yes.
10:13And we start our own all-female-led family law divorce firm.
10:17Yeah, and you're dealing with your own divorce.
10:19And yes, I get, yes.
10:21And is that what, so you end up being kind of arch enemies?
10:24Well, I was left behind.
10:26They started their own firm.
10:27We were sort of growing up together.
10:29I go out on my own after they don't take me, and then I make my life's work about murdering them, basically.
10:36OK.
10:37OK.
10:38Fair enough.
10:39And here's the thing, Kim.
10:41Obviously, you are so, you know, seasoned as a TV performer, you know, the queen of reality television.
10:47But this is different, you know, stepping into the acting thing.
10:51So what were the kind of do's and don'ts?
10:53What were the things that people told you about before you started this?
10:56I mean, working with a cast like this, and this is my first big project on my own,
11:02I wanted to just make sure that I was really prepared.
11:05I wanted to make sure that I, if what I can control is making sure I absolutely knew my lines,
11:11was on time, super professional, I just wanted to come.
11:14Late every day.
11:15No.
11:16I did not.
11:18Well, it's crazy.
11:19With an attitude.
11:20I was like, whoa, whoa.
11:23She was on Kim time.
11:25I was like, you know, Jesus, I'm kidding.
11:28I mean, I've just had the best time, the best.
11:31It's just, you have no idea what working with these women is like.
11:34It's like summer camp all day long.
11:37It looks like, and it strikes me that, you know, compared to a lot of the other things in your life,
11:40this must be so fun.
11:42It is.
11:43We've seen those pictures of you guys, all the cast in Paris, just having such a love.
11:46That's your birthday, isn't it?
11:47Yes.
11:48Yes.
11:49Yes.
11:50Before production, you had the slumber party at your mom's house?
11:52It was during production.
11:53I had never seen Fatal Attraction.
11:56Can you believe this?
11:57So, working with Glenn, if that's like a must.
11:59Young.
12:00Young.
12:01Young.
12:02Young.
12:03Young.
12:04Young.
12:05Young.
12:06Young.
12:07Young.
12:08Young.
12:09Young.
12:10Young.
12:11Young.
12:12Young.
12:13Young.
12:14Young.
12:15Young.
12:16Young.
12:17Young.
12:18Young.
12:19Young.
12:20Young.
12:21Young.
12:22Young.
12:23Young.
12:24Young.
12:25Young.
12:26Young.
12:27Young.

12:40Young.
12:41Young.
12:42Young.
12:43Young.
12:44Young.
12:45Young.
12:46very drunk yeah and hearing her commentary about everything that was going on was so fascinating
12:52and it was so funny like it was yeah she was like talking about needing to like drink a picture of
12:58margaritas during this one sex scene in the elevator yeah and she said that there was like
13:02a picture of margaritas on the bottom of the elevator floor and like every time they cut
13:06she would drink one because it was you know that very yes scene where there's a lot of things
13:11happening yeah yeah yeah nice nicely described including hand gestures you can tell that like
13:18i have a lot of action right yeah a lot of things happening and the good thing i suppose kim is that
13:23you're not going to be intimidated by all these famous actors because you grew up around family
13:27like i remember right was madonna your neighbor she was i would walk her dog when i was eight years old
13:33i would walk her dog and she paid me in remember those like jelly rubber neon bracelets oh yeah she
13:40paid me in those she's so cheap she handed them to me in a shoe box and i went to this moron child
13:52i remember going to school wearing them and all my friends were like oh my god that's so
13:55cool where did you get that and i was like madonna gave it to me yeah right just 70 hours of walking
14:01your dog sitting in school with the dog this is her dog she asked me she's like do you still have
14:10the bracelets and i was like no i don't know what i did with them she was like that's like you lost the
14:15coolest thing in the world and i was like how could i have given away madonna's bracelets i wish i still
14:21had them i like that she's annoyed you gave them away to a child who was walking your dog for free
14:30how precious were they
14:34i'm talking madonna famously madonna also played evita did she rock up to see you no
14:40she's cheap she's not supportive i love that film um no but elaine page who originated the role out
14:50here came twice which is amazing and then she came again did you know she was there no oh god i i prefer
14:56not to no of course then you got a letter you got a lovely letter i got a lovely letter from dame judy
15:01dench whoa which was good noise everyone again no it was not judy dench yeah and um i came into my
15:10dressing room and there was this letter on blue paper sitting on my dressing room table and i didn't
15:15i completely like skipped the letterhead i just was reading what it said and it was so complimentary
15:20so sweet and wonderful i couldn't really read the um signature and then i turned to look at the
15:26letterhead and it says from the desk of dame judy dench and i freaked out it is now in a double-sided
15:30frame that's correct see watch and learn yeah see but cut to dame judy dench in the theater she
15:42opens up a basket and go not that she made it seem so personal i would still take it i would still take
15:52it a napkin that she like wiped her mouth after eating a hot dog yes i'd take it yeah absolutely
15:58that would be that would be valuable that would be valuable like a mustardy sauerkraut i would
16:04just take it and yeah yeah i put it in a lucite box that's what i'm saying let's continue
16:11in all's fair obviously we're saying it's the legal drama and kim you are where are you in that
16:16you're very nearly qualified aren't you um yes i uh took the bar exam in july and i get it i get the
16:23results a few days after our premiere so in two weeks oh my god oh why are we on please paper
16:29i worked really really good why does it take so long i don't know it's hand-graded yeah okay yeah
16:37the essays are hand-graded was this something that you just always wanted to do or are you going to
16:41actually practice law i hope to practice law maybe in like 10 years i'll give up being kim k and be a
16:47lawyer like a trial lawyer amazing yeah that's like my what i really don't wear this unless you
16:55want to distract the jury yes it could be my strategy yeah um because and obviously law is in
17:02your blood your father robert kardashian he was famously part of the team that defended oj simpson
17:08how old were you when that was happening i was 14. so also you do remember it yeah i do remember i
17:13went to the trial once to visit because my dad was like this is a piece of history i want you
17:18guys to witness it and my mom was nicole's best friend so we were at my dad's that week and so my
17:24mom and my stepdad are sitting with the brown family on this side and then my dad pulls us in
17:29and we had no idea my mom was going to be there and we're skipping school for this oh mikey had no
17:34idea so we like look over and my mom is like girls you know trying to get our attention in the middle
17:38of the trial and we're like do not look at mom she's like get out of here and i was like well
17:45it's dad's time you know like we're with him so yeah and famously then sarah you played uh marcia
17:52clark yes uh in the people versus oj so did you discuss the trial at all while you were working
17:58together no not enough actually not enough we did we touched on a few things but yeah like tea
18:04stuff that we really wanted to discuss yeah i mean it's such a weird thing to connect you to
18:11yeah it is yeah yeah it really is it's really interesting because this was like a really big
18:16part of our lives i mean they portrayed me and my sisters in the show as well so it was interesting
18:22to see that and i was so i mean like marcia clark would call the house and talk to my mom and
18:28i would answer the phone so like i've been i was so how'd i do so was it your father's fame that kind
18:37of made the kardashians interesting because you i know you worked with paris hilton and things what
18:42was the thing that kind of sparked the maybe a combination but a lot of like my stepdad and he was
18:48like um you know doing reality shows and he was kind of out there in the spotlight a lot so i think it
18:55was just the combination of all those things of all of those things and hanging out with paris and
19:01being a part of that life and also just being really good at it and then well and then they
19:06asked us to shoot a pilot we had no idea what it would really turn into and then a show fell through
19:12that they were doing on the e-network and they're like can you start filming next week and film a whole
19:16series and so we just kind of got thrown into it and it lasted 20 years so yeah it's our it's our 37th
19:24season filming a reality show is that a record that must be a record well i mean we switched
19:30networks so we did 20 seasons of keeping up with the kardashians 10 seasons of spin-offs and now this
19:36is season seven of the kardashians wow wow spill the tea did you recreate scenes no never no we didn't
19:43have to every time we were filming something sometimes at the end of the season we were like
19:48we're filming we'd fight we're gonna be so boring we've we filmed every crazy thing that's possibly
19:54happened to us what could we possibly film next and then like my stepdad will turn into a woman and
19:59it'll be like oh we have like two more seasons
20:10so relatable so relatable but also we must congratulate you on the success of skim yes
20:16yes yes because so you know you have an underwear line you think well that's nice what is it valued at
20:24something like four billion dollars i mean that is nuts and you are properly involved yes yes i do
20:34everything from all the design to pick out all the campaigns i i do everything that's what like that's
20:40my daily job when we were watching uh fatal attraction the thing that kim was doing was snapping pictures of
20:46the lingerie that glenn was wearing and then because she was thinking about skims ideas and things so it's
20:51like it all comes from that the idea that crazy crazy horse crazy horse we went to the crazy horse the
20:57other night and but also it's nothing where you you just have that knack of marketing where you come
21:03up with something that someone else might have thought of and got well no i'm not going to do that but
21:06you go no i will and then it just takes over the world like the face what is it called the thing the
21:12face is it a face the face shapewear face yes we all need a little double chin snatch so don't say that again
21:20oh wait no no we don't
21:31mine would come up and cover my lips
21:35and is this your idea it was and you wear it at night all day okay but yeah i mean i just uh i figured
21:46a lot of women they use shapewear for other body parts to hold it up why wouldn't you want to hold
21:51up your face no it's so i mean hello hello patient zero
21:56and this there was some controversy with your thong and was what was it called the ultimate the
22:07ultimate bush the ultimate bush the ultimate bush so we've got so many different colors there's a
22:12selection of this is like a chocolate box a chocolate box it's awesome don't ever say chocolate box again
22:18okay
22:21don't say that why don't you not say chocolate
22:26okay no we did wow like does the carpet match the drapes campaign oh is that a yeti that's like a
22:33clear one i'm mature platinum blonde sure oh i recognize her reaction to that
22:44how the hell did this idea come up i love it i did a photo shoot once and they wanted me to
22:51it was like a crazy shoot and they wanted me to have hair in my um pantyhose and so then like just
22:59to look very like 70s like a 70s bush and i just thought how do you get this like do we cut like
23:09our hair wow how do you get your 70s bush and so we just like cut hair extensions and put it in like
23:24like
23:30we're laughing at the same time people it loves me it's awesome it's sold out in 15 minutes i'm wearing
23:36one right now please let's give an applause let's see we're letting do it i thought i heard something
23:46yeah oh nice rustling what's the next big idea what's the what's the next thing we're going from
24:00merkins to skims beauty oh yeah we're launching all makeup and fragrance and um yeah starting with
24:11fragrance then into beauty and amazing body products and really fun wow skims beauty an
24:18impressive person yeah the unstoppable kim kardashian so impressive it really is all right let's move
24:25on to rachel zegler talk of the town this summer in the sold out run of evita at the london
24:31palladium now the cast album if you didn't see it you can hear it because the cast album is out and now
24:43so we were talking about so you're doing your eight shows a week you're stepping up you're being
24:47miss west end but you're recording this at the same time yes in a very amazing way that allows
24:54people who listen to it to hear it the way that it was performed it was recorded live at the palladium
24:58which is amazing they recorded the whole show over the course of like eight or nine of them and then
25:03when we came in for like you know what we would call pickups where we would just you know refine
25:07certain things it was all on stage at the theater oh wow with the mics that we were using every night
25:12and um the finished product i'm i'm very very proud i think it's so fantastic uh well listen let's just
25:17remind ourselves of rachel's amazing performance oh god yes
25:34anything goes to make me fantastic i have to be ready
25:40oh
25:53i was at opening night i was at opening night with pedro pascal
25:56and yeah there we are yeah my mom and dad mom and dad
26:01am i really old enough to be your mother no no no and even if you were no
26:12one second
26:15i was at opening night it was one of the more extraordinary things i've ever seen i know
26:19amazing i saw it i saw it later yeah yeah it was that's ridiculous yeah and and you and pedro
26:25went to see we went to see you and we waited a very long time for you and you never came out i'm so
26:32sorry but i think it was because you know it was press night it was press night i had and i remember
26:38pedro and i being like we've never been two bigger losers than we are right now never never never never
26:43like weeping and screaming and jumping up and it's like and i could see you the whole time you could
26:47oh yeah oh it was the most it was the most i think extraordinary performance i've seen on stage
26:53i'm so glad i saw it it was really really amazing yeah it was like
26:59did you see me no oh my god and uh tell me this you know you as a as a little girl i think you wanted
27:05to play evita but yeah you can't even in your mind ever imagined it being like this not at all
27:10i thought i will do it in my community theater and that will be enough and then i did it do it now
27:15in the community i would love it in a heartbeat it'd be so fun i never could have imagined it would be
27:22in this format with these amazing people some of them are in the audience tonight where are you guys
27:27you're all hey i love them so much yeah so it was amazing so everyone in the theater uh loved it
27:41but then there was this moment that everyone was talking about where people outside the theater get
27:47to love you too so we've got a little bit before we see that yeah so describe i mean you don't know so
27:52describe to kim what happened absolutely it's essentially intermission happens act two yeah
27:57yeah and during the intermission i'm getting into what the public knows as evita with the blonde wig
28:03and the big white dress and a camera at the top of act two would follow me outside to the balcony of
28:09the palladium and stream into the theater so that the theater goers could see there there's there's
28:15rachel up there there's little tiny me wow and so did you know that it was going to turn into this
28:20huge drawl no because when we were doing tech for it one or two people would kind of stop and be
28:26like oh it looks like the girl from snow white and walk away and then all of a sudden it was like tick
28:31tock viral the next day and then by the end of the run we had 130 000 people that had come over the
28:38course of 12 weeks because they couldn't get a ticket wow yeah they couldn't get a ticket and they knew
28:42exactly what time she was exactly when to come we've got we've got a clip that this is what someone's
28:48just shot from the street oh and i don't know why this i find this so moving this is just this is
28:55rachel uh singing her heart out in argyle street and just listen to the crowd
29:11there is this philosophy so you are in tears you're in tears and uh here comes a big movement
29:33love it so good
29:37it was also in the audience one night was your mentor the man who kind of shot you to fame
29:48west side story steven spielberg rocked up uh there he is he she did see him sarah yeah clearly
29:56he didn't wait for an hour and that's what happens when you come two weeks before you close
30:02um he's the best i can't i still like it was it was one of those really weird out of body
30:08experiences where i was performing on stage and i could just see his silhouette perfectly and it was
30:13like i was 17 again he was gonna be there i knew he was coming i didn't know when and i felt like i
30:19was 17 auditioning for west side story again being like i hope he likes me i really hope he likes me
30:23and i think he did yeah i think i think everyone did because actually brian you've worked with spielberg
30:28haven't you yes i i did uh saving private ryan i i but i just a small role i played a one-armed
30:35colonel there you are oh you got this oh good look at it yeah and so when they shot me as as described
30:43i think you'll find laughing at the handicap
30:49so you tell them brian i tell them doing that shot my arm was actually on my bum
30:57holding my bum as it is and uh so i i thought well how would a guy like that operate in life and i
31:05thought okay i'm gonna figure out how to how to have a little demi toss cup and a glass and i'm reading
31:11that note down here and i'm stirring this tap tap put the spoon on the saucer put the saucer down
31:18turn the page you know and so i was really excited i worked on this for like a week
31:22because i wasn't working on and and stephen comes in and i go stephen i want to show you something
31:27and i showed him the whole thing when i i'm reading the report you know i got the thing i i stir my
31:33coffee tap tap put the spoon on the demi-taught put it down turn the page and he goes yeah good
31:39we're not going to do that
31:44here's something i like the way you look like you still remember how to do it
31:47i was like just working on it for so long
31:50to do it somewhere yeah i know actually i'm realizing a lot but you also worked with
31:54yes i did and what the post the post i played tom hanks's wife oh there incredible look at how young
32:01i love and then he you were directing and you asked him for advice yeah i was going to direct
32:08an episode i did direct an episode of american horror story and um thank you uh and it was the
32:16hardest thing i ever did in my life and the scariest thing i've ever done and kind of very confronting
32:20because i realized i'm really like a glass half empty kind of person and that's really not not the
32:25spirit that you want when the person is directing but he did give me great advice which he said to change
32:29your shoes at lunch huh okay with someone else no like go and bring a second pair of shoes so that
32:37you're like because your feet get tired you know while you actors are off in your trailers oh look
32:41at how it is you see what i mean yeah yeah we're over here just really working but you were acting
32:45in the show that you were also i was that's crazy how did that work that was not great no
32:50so many shoes so many shoes my character shoes my steven spielberg directing was your director self
32:59complimentary to your actors no she thought i was terrible oh very quickly uh lots of uh rumors
33:08flying around will america get to see your avida are you going to broadway it's not up to me
33:14i would love to who's it up to i don't know god like it wait so you say yes i need you to make
33:21this happen yeah so if it doesn't happen it's not you uh yeah i'm i'm in i want to do it so badly
33:27because i am a new yorker i want to bring this thing that i love so much to my home and in your head
33:33do you know what theater you'd like to be in with a nice balcony it would be so cool to just have
33:37something that had like a plaza across the street so that we don't have to stop traffic yes in new
33:44york especially in the theater district in time square oh well i so hope it happens for uh for
33:48everyone over there uh brian cranston is returning to london's west end
33:59he stars in arthur miller's all my sons it starts at windham's theater on the 14th of november
34:06and this is obviously the arthur miller classic uh directed by the great ivo van hove and he's one
34:11of those people he's a bit like jamie lloyd he takes these kind of pieces you think you know and then
34:16he shakes them up so what is there a big idea behind this production there there are several big ideas
34:21behind it i i'm not at liberty to to reveal what that is but um you always are surprised with evo's
34:29productions you know we did network together and it was you know jarring and and fascinating and we're
34:37having fun it's it's a great cast and it's a beautiful play arthur miller wrote this in 19 in
34:43the late 1940s right after world war ii and it's about betrayal and family and i ideology and uh
34:51um you know death and family and it's a comedy and also the other thing apparently you like british
35:00audiences i do very much oh my god well first of all first of all we're in a country that actually
35:13truly values about the theater and theater of all kinds and supports it yeah um in america it's
35:20it's commercialized it that's what it is it really is commercialized in america at the end of a play
35:26it could be a terrible play and everybody oh oh my god and i'm sitting there going oh my god this play
35:35was awful and i feel compelled now to stand up in britain they do not stand if they don't like it
35:44and they will give you a polite applause to the level of the of the appreciation of the show and i as
35:51performers i i appreciate that i don't don't stand up out of obligation if if something we did on stage
36:00compels you to stand and cheer fantastic but if it doesn't don't i like the lazy british audience
36:07where they don't give you standing ovation they do the high clap they're really like i would stand but
36:13fuck that you get the idea i really liked it yeah it's good but no but but rachel zegler is nodding
36:29along but you haven't experienced that your audience were on their feet every night well that
36:33yes and that was very nice it was a very singular experience i did a play in new york and i had
36:38completely agree with the the pity stands that happens where it's like they're just yeah it's just
36:43they're standing because it's over and you know and it's and it's lovely and it feels lovely but not
36:49unless you feel like you've really really earned it and i was we were very fortunate on no but i've never
36:54said evita you turned people into americans because the standing ovation went on for so long
37:01yeah i saw pedro stand after rainbow high no in the middle of rainbow high and i was like dad you're
37:07embarrassing me in front of my friends and yet you refuse to see them back
37:25i'm interested listening to these guys talking about being on stage and kind of you know the highs
37:30and lows and the rewards of that any desire sounds terrifying okay nothing scares me well then now i
37:38need it to happen okay now i'm like i know what i would not be good at so you don't know you don't
37:46know anything you know nothing but you think it would scare you yeah absolutely nothing scares her so
37:54this is very interesting information yeah i i you don't get nervous and i i don't think i would get
38:00nervous i just don't have the desire because i don't think i would be that good at it so i don't
38:06it terrifies me there are a lot of guys you know i see it as a challenge they're in here writing a play
38:14all four of us do you sing no okay and there's another thing yeah two things now two things we've got
38:20she's going to sing she's going to star in a broadway play i cannot wait i'll be in the front
38:24row like yes and brian very happy very happy news because this is extraordinary 20 years on
38:32malcolm in the middle is coming back
38:39jane's coming back
38:42have you filmed it already yeah he shot it already uh in vancouver we had a great time i've been
38:48badgering linwood boomer who was the creator of the show for about 10 years to say we should do a
38:54reunion show we should do a reunion show and finally he relented and came up with a great idea and we
38:59got everybody together what's so interesting is that frankie and and chris and all the boys 25 years ago
39:07when we first started this show are now the age that i was when i started they have children of their
39:15own so i i think it's interesting to see what happens and is it a one-off or a series no we have
39:20four episodes that are coming on disney plus oh my god and yeah so that's coming on uh sometime next
39:26year and just the dad does the dad end up in the same situation as he always did oh god
39:32you know graham i i need a new agent because for some reason they have this this older guy
39:40always naked i don't know no it's like for some reason i'm in tidy whitey underwear or i'm naked i
39:50mean it's like why i'm the butt of your joke stop it uh so but here's the thing it does sort of run in
39:59the cranston family the not liking clothes thing oh tell us about your uncle ball oh well bob is
40:07indeed my uncle yeah um
40:17we should say we should say late late uncle oh he's my late uncle late uncle he's passed on
40:23but he was a uh a nudist oh uh yeah uncle bob was a nudist and uh that's the first line of a play
40:33and uh you know he was he was in his 90s when he passed away and he was still naked and i used to go
40:41visit him of course in florida where all nudist colonies are listen i was born in florida and you've never
40:47seen me naked
40:53you paused for a second wait wait wait wait wait wait um yes i think i sent the producers a photograph
41:02or two oh wait a minute oh no thank you is this really a picture of your uncle this is my real
41:06uncle bob in a and i think i sent it somewhere this is the picture of uncle bob
41:19i see the resemblance i mean rachel said i see the resemblance how dare you i'm sorry it was
41:32right there it's not only bob it's bits and bobs isn't it
41:38it's just of all the things you've chosen to wear you went with a hat
41:41well he wants to protect him from the sun and i he wanted to go to the to the lake there and i
41:49go visit him and and i i he said i'll bring a chair for you and i said look bob i'm not going
41:54to go naked i'm just not going to do that or sit on the chair and he brought a chaise and take that
42:01chair and i brought the chair and he decided i thought we were going to sit side by side look at
42:05no no no he comes around and the chair i had sat about this very good right it's time for music

46:42and it sounds like this was such a labor of love you know you were working in a different way
46:50it was it was hard yeah it was tough it was um i guess born out of frustration and
46:59not trusting myself during the creative process um feeling a real loss of confidence in myself as a creative person
47:07which i found really tough like i didn't i didn't trust my ear and going to the studio to make stuff
47:12um just crippled with self-doubt and so lotus for me symbolizes like um you know regardless of what
47:19you're going through you can still rise above the muddy waters and become something extraordinary so
47:25that's a beautiful image
47:34what's kind of amazing is that that creative doubt you know because you've been doing this
47:38as young as you are you've been here for a long time like how how how
