Minister of Defence Wayne Sturge is assuring the public that ALL commercial aircraft are operating flights in and out of T&T’s airspace, without hinderance, and will continue to do so.

His statement comes a few hours after US President Donald Trump posted to social media, warning that the airspace above and surrounding Venezuela should be considered closed.

00:00Trinidad and Tobago's airspace continues to remain open to all commercial aircraft, so says Minister of Defence Wayne Sturge.
00:10In an official press statement on Saturday, Minister Sturge says he wishes to, quote,
00:15refute the misinformation circulating on social media with respect to the closure of the local airspace and flights into and out of Trinidad and Tobago, end quote.
00:26The Defence Ministry, he says, has control of the airspace and territorial waters of TNT and assures the travelling public that local, regional and international commercial airlines continue to operate flights in and out of our airspace without hindrance.
00:44He says the public should ignore the fear-mongering being created by politically aligned social media influencers whose agenda is to create chaos and instability.
00:54Minister Sturge says the Ministry of Defence will communicate to the public in an official and timely manner whenever the need arises.
01:05Earlier on Saturday, United States President Donald Trump in a post on X said, quote,
01:11To all airlines, pilots, drug dealers and human traffickers, please consider the airspace above and surrounding Venezuela to be closed in its entirety.
01:23Thank you for your attention to this matter, end quote.
