Caribbean Airlines has dismissed reports that passengers on the Trinidad-Tobago airbridge were displaced to accommodate government officials. This follows an incident at Piarco International Airport involving an unauthorized individual, which was swiftly handled by security according to authorities.

00:00Caribbean Airlines has refuted claims circulating on social media that passengers on the domestic air bridge between Trinidad and Tobago were displaced to make way for government officials.
00:12In a statement issued on Sunday, the airline said no confirmed passengers booked to travel on Saturday, July 19th or Sunday, July 20th were removed to accommodate anyone.
00:23The carrier also revealed that there were 182 unused seats on the air bridge for Saturday and several standby passengers were successfully accommodated across both days.
00:36Meanwhile, the airport authority is seeking to clear the air following a security scare at the Piaco International Airport on Friday, July 18th.
00:45According to the authority, around 5.10 p.m., an unauthorized man attempted to access a restricted area of the airport.
00:55Security personnel quickly responded, detained the individual and handed him over to the police.
01:01He was later charged at the Piaco Police Station.
01:05Officials emphasized that contrary to some online reports, the man was not armed and did not attempt to access an aircraft.
01:12According to the release, Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation, Eli Zakuru, has been briefed on the matter.
01:20The authority is seeking to reassure the public that this incident demonstrates the strength and coordination of airport security protocols,
