Transcript
00:00The U.S. Air Force aircraft was spotted in Tobago's airspace and landed just before dawn and departed at 5.53 a.m. on Wednesday.
00:12Chief Secretary Fali Augustin, when asked about the refueling of the aircraft, said the matter is being investigated.
00:19I'm currently looking into it. I only learned of it from online postings and WhatsApp groups, so I wasn't aware of it.
00:30I'm currently investigating to see what transpired, why they were in the space.
00:36I know that they have been in the Trinidad and Tobago airspace for a while, given the collaboration between the central government and the United States government.
00:46But I'm trying to get some more detail.
00:48Thus far, thus far, I know that they did refuel in Tobago, but I'm trying to get some more details as to why and what else transpired.
01:00Meantime, Minority Leader Kelvin Morris told the TV6 News the matter is an urgent one and he is calling on Prime Minister Kamala Passat-Bissessa and the Chief Secretary Fali Augustin to come clean on the matter.
01:13I am deeply concerned, like the rest of the 60,000 Tobagoians who heard that the aircraft flew over the island this morning.
01:23And it is now a matter for both the Chief Secretary and the Prime Minister to come clean.
01:29The minority leader explained further the matter involving the aircraft.
01:33Because notwithstanding the aircraft, we are also hearing rumors of actual military persons staying in Tobago.
01:43And therefore, the Prime Minister must explain as to what is the real situation and what is the real reason for the presence.
01:53And therefore, I think it's a matter that requires the public to be addressed by the highest officeholder of the land because we all are concerned at this time.
02:05Elizabeth Williams, TV6 News.
