00:00Nick, we can't afford this.
00:02So your family is rich?
00:04We're comfortable.
00:05That is exactly what a super rich person would say.
00:08More crazy great news for crazy rich Asians.
00:11The film, directed by John M. Chu, claimed the top box office spot for a second week in a row, soaring to 25 million dollars.
00:18That's almost as much as the rom-com earned in its first weekend, representing one of the best holds in modern history for a wide-release summer title.
00:26The Nick you're dating is Nick Young?
00:28Yeah, you guys know them or something?
00:29Hells yeah.
00:30They're just the biggest developers in all of Singapore.
00:33The groundbreaking film fell only 6 percent domestically from the 26.5 million dollars it earned last weekend,
00:40as part of its five-day debut of 35.3 million dollars.
00:44The movie's 12-day domestic total through Sunday is 76.8 million dollars.
00:49It's already become the top-grossing comedy of the year so far domestically.
00:53According to Warner Bros. president of domestic distribution, Jeff Goldstein,
00:57it's significant that the film made just as much this Saturday as it did the Saturday before.
01:02And Crazy Rich Asians continues to broaden out beyond the Asian American demographic,
01:06which made up 27 percent of this weekend's audience compared to 38 percent last weekend.
01:12The Caucasian demo grew this week from 41 to 48 percent, while Hispanic ticket buyers increased from 11 percent to 13 percent,
01:20and African Americans from 6 percent to 9 percent. Other made up 3 percent.
01:25These people aren't just rich. They're crazy rich.
01:28You really should have told me that you're like the Prince William of Asia.
01:30That's ridiculous. Much more of a Harry.
01:32But not everyone escaped the dog days of August unscathed.
01:36Melissa McCarthy's new R-rated puppet comedy, The Happy Time Murders, opened to only 10 million dollars domestically,
01:44marking a career low for the actress for a movie in which she has top billing.
01:49The film came in behind expectations after getting slapped with a C-cinema score and poor reviews.
01:55I'll give you what I call the continental hot sock.
01:58I don't want anything hot from you.
02:01The Happy Time Murders landed at number 3 in North America, behind Crazy Rich Asians and The Meg.
