The actor-turned-filmmaker will be tackling his first comic book movie as helmer.

00:06Venom 2 has officially found its director and actor-turned-filmmaker Andy Serkis.

00:11Shortly after The Hollywood Reporter exclusively broke the news, Serkis took to Instagram writing,

00:15It's actually happening. I can feel it. The symbiote has found a host in me.

00:19And I'm ready for the ride. Can't wait. Are you ready, Tom Hardy?

00:23The sequel will once again star Hardy as the journalist who joins with an alien symbiote.

00:30We are Venom.

00:33Now, this won't be Serkis' first foray into the Marvel Universe.

00:36He showed off his acting chops in 2018's Black Panther as bad guy Claw.

00:47Venom 2 will be Serkis' third directorial effort after the 2017 drama Breathe

00:52and last year's Mowgli Legend of the Jungle on Netflix.

00:57I've never seen a man cut before.

01:01Serkis rose to fame for his motion capture and performance capture acting work as Gollum in the Lord of the Rings trilogy.

01:07He then cut his teeth with second unit directing by teaming back up with director Peter Jackson for the Hobbit trilogy.

01:13His expertise with CG and performance capture technology is one of the factors that landed him the Venom 2 gig.
