00:00Big news in the DC Universe. Robert Pattinson is a top contender to play Batman in Matt Reeves'
00:05upcoming Warner Bros. movie, The Batman. But what kind of caped crusader would he be?
00:09Now, it's worth noting that a deal has not yet been made and it's unclear if there's an offer on the table.
00:14It's also unclear who else is on Reeves' shortlist. But other names that have been floated
00:18alongside Pattinson's over the last month include Armie Hammer, Nicholas Holt, and Aaron Taylor-Johnson.
00:24Reeves took over directing duties on the superhero standalone after Ben Affleck stepped away from the
00:28director's chair in 2017.
00:30That's your signal. That means we have to go now.
00:33Yeah, that's what that means.
00:34That's so cool.
00:35Affleck would later step down as Batman altogether, a situation which allowed Reeves to revise the script for a younger
00:43Bruce Wayne. Enter Rob Pattinson, perhaps. The 32-year-old actor is no stranger to franchise fare, having, of course,
00:49risen to superstar status in the Twilight series as sparkly vampire Edward Cullen.
00:53I promise to love you every moment forever.
00:56But as of late, the British actor has gravitated toward smaller budgeted and art house features, like his most recent release, High Life.
01:05The laws of nature. You'll pay for it.
01:09As for just what kind of Bruce Wayne Pattinson would make, The Hollywood Reporter's contributor Richard Newby says,
01:14He's built up a repertoire of playing emotionally damaged, highly intelligent characters.
01:19And there's little doubt that the actor can bring an intensity to the role that we've come to expect from the character.
