00:00The latest trailer for the HBO Max series Peacemaker shows a new side of the character

00:10that we haven't seen before. The series starring John Cena picks up after the events of the

00:15Suicide Squad and follows Peacemaker as he joins a new team.

00:18This task force doesn't officially exist, which leaves us on our own.

00:22We call our targets butterflies. They are a serious threat to the safety of American citizens.

00:27But keeping the peace no matter the cost may not be as easy for him as it once was.

00:32Peacemaker, take him out.

00:33You want the kids?

00:33Yes, terminate him immediately. Take the side.

00:39The trailer goes on to find Peacemaker in his feelings.

00:42I thought you loved peace no matter how many men, women and children you needed to kill to get it.

00:48I don't know. I think I'm having feelings about things.

00:53Series creator James Gunn, who also wrote and directed The Suicide Squad,

00:56previously told reporters of the character,

00:58Peacemaker has a lot to learn. It's that ability to learn that for me makes him a little bit more likable.

01:04Your dad is not a good man.

01:07It's still family.

01:08My advice? Cut it out with the introspection.

01:10The mind is a den of scorpions better left running from, not towards.

01:14Gunn wrote all eight episodes and directed five, including the series premiere.

01:19Peacemaker debuts on HBO Max on January 13th.
