Seth Meyers, Stephen Colbert and Trevor Noah all took issue with one of the president's responses to the allegation, when he said the writer was not his "type."
00:00I don't understand how we're still struggling with this in society.
00:03A woman's attractiveness has nothing to do with whether or not they were raped.
00:09Nothing at all.
00:10On Tuesday, late night hosts tackled Donald Trump's response to the latest woman to come forward with sexual assault allegations against the president,
00:17writer E. Jean Carroll, who claimed Trump raped her in a cover story for New York Magazine.
00:22In the excerpt, the author details the encounter, which allegedly took place in late 1995 or early 1996
00:28in a Bergdorf-Goodman dressing room writing,
00:53Trump fiercely denied these claims saying,
00:58that should indicate her motivation. It should be sold in the fiction section.
01:02Now over on The Late Show, host Stephen Colbert found it a little odd that one of Trump's points for denying
01:07these serious allegations was that, quote,
01:09she's not my type.
01:11So it didn't happen because she's not his type.
01:14That is the sound of a man realizing in mid-sentence that he's not talking to Billy Bush.
01:20The host also noted that Carroll's claims were covered without much fanfare in mainstream publications,
01:25and praises The New York Times for burying the story in the book section.
01:29Which is smart. They knew it was the one place the president would never look.
01:32Over on Comedy Central, Daily Show host Trevor Noah noted that Carroll was the 22nd woman to step forward
01:38with claims of sexual misconduct against Donald Trump.
01:41That's almost one accusation for each Democrat running.
01:44The host also quipped that she's not my type is a pretty weak defense when it comes to rape.
01:50If your denial leaves people thinking there is a type of woman you would rape, that's not a good denial.
01:56And much like virtually everyone else, NBC's Seth Meyers also took issue with Trump's response,
02:01devoting his usual hey segment to the topic.
02:04Hey, if someone asks you did you rape that woman and you say no, she's not my type, that's not a defense.
02:11That's a confession.
02:13The host goes on to assure Trump that all these women are trying to do is come forward with their story,
02:18and that although the president tends to think everything is a conspiracy.
02:22The media isn't trying to screw you because, to borrow a phrase, you're not their type.
