00:00To win here is incredible. To win here like that was quite amazing.
00:07Yeah, it was. It's been difficult to win here over the years, where I've been, but over the recent seasons I've felt as if we'd come close when I was here at West Ham and a couple of things didn't go and we didn't quite get results.
00:20But if you said to me tonight when I had got here and we got out to ten men, I was going to get a result with ten men here, nil-nil at the time, had I said that had been really tough.
00:30So it was a brilliant, brilliant performance by the players. Resilience, toughness, commitment, all the words you'd want to hear as a manager and a great goal as well.
00:41I've seen you close to TV, but as a manager stood on the touchline watching one of your own players get sent off for a team, a team-mate, what does that feel like in the moment?
00:55Well, I didn't think when I saw it, I didn't think there was anything in it. I was a bit annoyed that they were challenging each other at the time.
01:03But I was also quite pleased. I was quite pleased they were fighting each other because it showed me that they cared and it showed me that there was a bit of that and that's what's in Everton.
01:16We're trying to demand higher standards from everybody. So I can't quite work it out if it was Keno's bad ball or if it was Gana's bad ball to Keno or whatever they were annoyed each other with.
01:28But if we hadn't got that fight and that resilience like what they showed, would they never get through the rest of the game?
01:35Because we came up against an improvement in Manchester United. Most of the people in here were here to see Manchester United.
01:43But Everton stood up to do what they had to do tonight.
01:48David, so you were quite quickly to get down to the tunnel at half-time. Just what was said, because obviously you've got the league really explaining to their staff, but you obviously had a situation to have to resolve as well.
01:59Not one word was said. Never for a minute did we think about it. It wasn't an interest that was done. I was more interested in what I thought Manchester United were going to do at half-time.
02:09Because I was concerned, you know, tactically what they were going to do, how we were going to cope with it, what we were.
02:16Choices, how could we alter. And we played Sunderland away from home. We were 1-0 up and we came out in the second half and we lost a goal after about a minute.
02:27So I was determined that we didn't go out with that sort of attitude. The second half was much harder. They did.
02:34They put more people in the front line, made it much more difficult. But I thought as they made it more difficult, we defended just as well and stuck to our task.
02:42Chris has said anything, he might have apologised with you.
02:45Yes, he's apologised to the dressing room at the end of the game, asked everybody and spoke to us all. So, no problem, we move on from it.
02:54Disappointed it happened, but in some ways, you know, people who've been players will understand what it means when you're on the pitch, you're fighting to win. And both of them were.
03:05There must be a normal sense of pride for the team to overcome that and deliver it in the second half.
03:10Absolutely. And I think if anything, you know, the players stood up and showed exactly what they're capable.
03:15A lot of what we saw tonight is a bit like Everton, but I have to say it would be wrong not to put Everton in the way we played at the start of the game
03:22and how we started and how we played, because we were probably the better side for the majority of the first half, even with ten men at the times.
03:30Dave? Dave, do you think there's the stuff that Teon Barry, one of the most headers of any striker in the Premier League game this season?
03:37What would you make the responsibility growing into the number nine at all?
03:40Yes, I do. He's beginning to, I thought he led the line well in some ways today.
03:45His numbers running are always big and we need it even more so today somehow to help us.
03:51So, yes, I'm pleased. I still want goals from him. Obviously that's the thing that you get judged on as a centre-forward.
03:58But I think his performance tonight for the team was worthy of what he'd done.
04:03He worked really, really hard for us.
04:05Mitch?
04:06Dave, just in terms of Michael Keane, I guess with his involvement in the incident with the dressing,
04:13it would have been quite easy for him to be distracted by it.
04:16It didn't feel like that at all, almost the other way perhaps.
04:20Did you talk to him and how do you think he did?
04:23No, I didn't. I didn't speak to him. I said I didn't not talk to him about it at all because I've quickly moved on.
04:30As far as I'm concerned, you know, the couple of players, I think if you'd asked them in the crowd,
04:34and I think you boys as well, I think you're all surprised it would be a red card.
04:38I think if the referee had maybe taken 10 seconds and gone and split them, maybe said to him,
04:45hey, by the way, yous are lucky. I'm giving yous both a yellow.
04:49I don't think ending the stadium would expect it. I don't think ending the stadium would expect a red.
04:54But a letter of the law might suggest that's the case and we have to accept that.
04:58But let's be fair, we're all football fans and we watch football.
05:01I don't think there would have been many expecting a red card in that incident.
05:05So we're not going to talk much about it because we would have a great victory.
05:10We might have been talking more about it if we didn't and accept that.
05:13Yeah, I'm glad you mentioned it because the two of them done an amazing job physically.
05:29You know, Jack said he ran a bit tonight, you know that?
05:32So we had to get, you know, Jack was really good, the work we needed to get back
05:38and there was a couple of times in the second half saying,
05:41my goodness, he's going to make it all the way.
05:43Ellie as well. Ellie done a brilliant job for us.
05:46And they've been great attacking players for us.
05:48And actually in the early part of the game, the both of them were a threat as well.
05:52Just the longer it went, we get pushed back so far.
06:06James Gardner is playing really well.
06:08And I know Thomas Tuchel was here tonight and I don't know, I'm sure he's got lots of England.
06:12I mean, he'd have certainly made everybody realise that England's number one was playing for Everton.
06:18That's for sure because of how well he played, his saves he made.
06:21But also the likes of Kieran Dewsbury Hall and Jimmy Gardner are English, maybe.
06:27Maybe not quite ready yet, or maybe.
06:29But I'm sure that Thomas brought up Alex Scott from Bournemouth.
06:34So that should encourage the likes of Jimmy Gardner and Kieran Dewsbury Hall
06:38that who knows what might happen as the season goes on.
06:42But Jimmy played really well, yeah.
06:44So, yeah.
06:45Okay, folks, alright.
06:46Cheers.
06:47Cheers.
