00:00Mike's for the guys. Joe, we'll start off again.
00:07David, side played really well for an hour then, and obviously come away with difficult results at the end.
00:11I just wonder what your thoughts are on it?
00:13I thought we'd done a good job for the best part of an hour.
00:19The first goal was disappointing, but it was the second goal more disappointing
00:23because it never gave us a chance to keep ourselves in the game at that point.
00:26It made it really difficult to get back in it.
00:28But we've done a lot of good things, made some good opportunities.
00:35There's no disappointment for me regarding the player.
00:38The result's disappointing, but I think coming to Man City is never an easy place to get a result.
00:43What do you put down those goals to? Just a little bit of switching off, do you think?
00:48I think there's a transitional phase from us dropping from an attacking position into a defensive set-up.
00:54I have to say, I think it's Foden who makes a pass through and sends O'Reilly away,
00:58but the pass between Jacob and Anilio, they were just at the time getting the position set,
01:05and they get caught. I think the ball beats Jake's foot by a yard.
01:09I have to say, though, it was a brilliant ball by O'Reilly.
01:12Stood it up for Haaland.
01:14The centre-half's worked really hard to get back into position,
01:18but Haaland puts the brakes on, and Michael keeps going a little bit,
01:21and he sort of half-pulls it back with a dink ball.
01:25So, I've got to say, I think it was a really good goal for Manchester City.
01:29I think that we could have maybe done better, but I thought it was nearly textbook goal for them.
01:34And the result's obviously frustrating, but Illumina and I, again,
01:38showed just the quality he has. He was a real menace today, wasn't he?
01:40Well, LA was the best player on the pitch in the first half.
01:44Might have got taken over by Foden as the game went on,
01:47but I think that LA was the one who really made a big difference for us.
01:53But we had two great chances as well.
01:56And the second one, which the second one with Beto doesn't score it,
01:59I think it's onside. I've had a chance to look again.
02:01I think if it was a VAR decision, it would be incredibly close to being a goal.
02:06So, I don't know how many chances you get when you come to Man City,
02:09but certainly the level of team which we are at the moment
02:13means that we don't get bundles in them.
02:15So, we have to sort of take those opportunities.
02:19Richard?
02:20David, it looked like you had a few words with Haaland after the final whistle.
02:24Just wondering what you said to him.
02:27I wish he was somewhere else.
02:28Yeah.
02:31To be fair, most managers will be thinking the same, don't they?
02:34You know, he's, I thought, in the main, we've done a really good job on him.
02:39But then you say, how can you say that?
02:41And he's just got himself two goals.
02:44From his point of view, I thought the second one was a bit scruffy.
02:47It was through Tarkey's legs to get through.
02:50When we hadn't really given him too many opportunities.
02:53But then later in the game, I have to say, I give great credit for the goalkeeper
02:57for the way he defended Haaland 1v1.
02:59And the boys get back.
03:01Because, you know, we'd opened up then trying to find a way of getting a goal.
03:05And Man City had a couple of chances.
03:07But goal difference doesn't matter at the moment.
03:10But it might matter later in the season.
03:12So, I'm pleased we didn't concede a third.
03:15David, when you're coming here and you're playing Haaland on this sort of run,
03:18do you do anything, I mean, obviously, you know who you're playing
03:21and you know the way City play.
03:22But do you do anything special in terms of approaching the game?
03:27Because he did a great job for 60 minutes.
03:29Certainly, first half, he barely had a kick, did he?
03:32Yeah, but that's the problem.
03:33What do you do then?
03:33If he does nothing for 60 minutes, what are you going to do?
03:35You're going to talk about the two or three minutes and keep it going.
03:38But I think his ability to score, he's got something which others have.
03:42I have to say, though, the Man City team played well
03:45and they create the opportunities for him.
03:48As I said, a pass and a lovely stood-up ball gives him a chance to score with his head.
03:52So, you know, you have to praise his teammates for the opportunities they make for him.
03:57But he certainly looks going through 1v1 nearly unstoppable.
04:01And unfortunately, they got through a couple of times right at the end.
04:04But thankfully, Jordan done a good job of it.
04:08Barry?
04:14Hi, David.
04:15I think you were the last Everton manager to win here in 2010.
04:19So how do Everton, given the disparity in resources between City and Everton over the years,
04:24how do Everton close the gap and start coming here and getting better results?
04:28Well, I think that's a huge question where you could take forever to answer.
04:33If you look at where Everton were this time last year, you know, the difference in where we are now.
04:40I want us to be competitive against the best teams.
04:45We've tried to be competitive against Man City, Liverpool, Arsenal when we play them.
04:50And I hope we can between now and the end of the season.
04:53But we won't win all the games.
04:55But we'll be making sure that we come here.
04:57And I actually thought that today we were competitive for long parts.
04:59Maybe we didn't make enough chances, but we couldn't get enough possession because they are so good.
05:06But we did.
05:07We might make two or three.
05:09And sometimes when you come here, I've seen other teams come here and have less of the ball and less chances than we do and go away with a result.
05:15So, I'm pleased with how we're performing.
05:20I'm pleased with how we're picked up compared to where we were this time last year and what we're doing.
05:26We've had a really good away record in the main.
05:28It says we've come in.
05:30And I came here today thinking I might have a wee sneakier chance of getting a result today.
05:34For 60-odd minutes, we weren't that far away.
05:39Hold on.
05:41Yeah, thanks, folks.
05:42Cheers.
05:42See you later.
05:45How you doing?
05:47Good.
05:48Doing the golf?
05:48Yeah.
