00:00Result in the performance, please.
00:02Disappointed with the result.
00:06Happy enough with the second half performance.
00:08Didn't think we'd done enough in the first half.
00:11But overall, lost a really tight game.
00:14Could have easily gone in our favour.
00:16Do you think in some ways, obviously it's seven games and I went home,
00:19but that represented a degree of progress today?
00:22You fought really hard.
00:24The relationship between the fans and the players on the pitch team,
00:27they seemed to fuel each other.
00:29That did feel close.
00:30I do, yeah.
00:31I thought they did well tonight.
00:32I thought the crowd done great.
00:33I thought the players done great.
00:35They have done all season.
00:37Would it be possible that you made three changes?
00:39Obviously, we know Jake O'Brien was suspended today.
00:40Could you just talk us through what the thought process was with those changes?
00:44Just manager's decision.
00:45I thought they were the right way to go tonight.
00:48We chose it.
00:52Not really giving up too much of my thoughts to you, to be honest.
00:55No, I can tell.
00:56I'll pass it on then.
00:57Simon?
00:58Hi, Simon.
00:59Hi, yeah.
01:00In a game like that, there's not a lot in the game.
01:03You could win the game.
01:04They could win the game.
01:05But they can bring on somebody who costs 70 million quid.
01:08And is that the difference?
01:10I think that was a bit he missed there in that question, that one before.
01:13Is that the difference, though?
01:15In little games like that against clubs like this,
01:19they can just call on players that you can't get hold of at the moment.
01:23Look, we narrowly beat United at Old Trafford 1-0.
01:27We probably shouldn't have won on the night, but held out and got a result.
01:31I thought they were a bit fortunate tonight to win the game 1-0.
01:34I thought we were probably, certainly in the second half, looked more likely a team.
01:40But we couldn't get the goal.
01:42And it's the quality, what you're talking about, the quality, which costs big money.
01:48But we're just lacking that little bit where we could probably get a goal.
01:52We didn't quite be able to do it.
01:54I mean, you said in your programme notes that you're aiming, clearly you're aiming,
02:00your aims are a lot different to the ones that existed for the last few years.
02:06But getting into Europe is almost a double-edged sword,
02:09because if you manage to get in, then you've got to sort the squad out,
02:12and then you've got to deal with that.
02:13And that brings its own problems, as other teams are finding out.
02:16Yeah, I found it at West Ham when we were just about to get relegated.
02:19We avoided relegation.
02:20And in the next season, we made Europe.
02:23But we went on to get to a semi-final that year.
02:27So I still think that my aim would love to be that.
02:31But I'm not in the right place at the moment to talk about that,
02:34because at the moment, you know, we're not winning the games
02:37to give ourselves a chance to hang in with the teams at the top.
02:40So I hope we can still do it.
02:42We can turn it around somehow.
02:46But I'm not disappointed with the performance tonight.
02:49Disappointed more with the result tonight.
02:51Thanks, Simon.
02:52Ollie?
02:53Hi, David.
02:54Hi there.
02:55Irrespective of your home record,
02:59what are the challenges of moving to a new stadium?
03:03I'm partly asking because it's my first time here.
03:05It's a magnificent stadium.
03:07You know, you've lost a few on the spin here.
03:10Are the challenges of moving to a new place?
03:14Yeah.
03:15It's a question I've been asked probably half a dozen times or more because it's crept up.
03:21I think there's probably a change.
03:23I think other teams come here and quite enjoy it.
03:26I mean, if you think of Goodison, you know, narrow tunnel, you know, the lights,
03:31the crowd can nearly touch you every time you're off the pitch.
03:33You know, the crowd are nearly...
03:34So this is completely different for the opposition as well.
03:40It might not look it, but it's a bigger space or feels a bigger space than what Goodison is as
03:44well,
03:44you know, so there's ways of filling the pitch.
03:47Maybe in some ways tonight we lost a goal where we were a bit wide open
03:50and they've counter-attacked us and got away and got a goal.
03:53So there is things about it which are different and we have to get used to.
03:57But, you know, we're getting used to it.
04:01You know, I don't think where games are much worse than what...
04:04In fact, they're better than what we had at Goodison.
04:06We've got more points, but we're teams better this year than recent seasons.
04:10So it wasn't as if we were winning every game at Goodison either, to be honest.
04:14Thanks.
04:18I think Shetland Alcaraz and Mark Travers wasn't in the squad.
04:21Yeah, Charlie picked up an injury at the last minute in training yesterday.
04:26So I think we'll probably lose him for a few weeks.
04:30And Travers wasn't in the squad either?
04:33No, he also...
04:35He got damaged his finger, so that was his reason as well, yeah.
04:39I'll just take a couple more, Paddy.
04:41David, the TV's just shown all the corners going under lamps.
04:44Hammond's crossbar.
04:45What was the thinking behind that?
04:47It was that the goalie wouldn't do as well as what he'd done.
04:50The goalie was bloody brilliant for them tonight.
04:53The goalie, the save he had from Michael Keane,
04:55the way he dealt with the corner kicks, you know,
04:58there was a huge amount of pressure on them.
05:02And we hoped somewhere we'd have got a nick on one of them.
05:06I mean, I don't know, how many corners did they wait?
05:09I think they had one, you know.
05:11So the pressure we had on those situations,
05:16you could look at another way and say, you know,
05:18we tried something else to try and get a goal,
05:20but very difficult to get that information on during the game.
05:22And the players are putting in.
05:24And actually, I thought the way it was going,
05:26we would get one from it, but we didn't.
05:29But I thought their goalkeeper played really well tonight.
05:32But for me, he was the best player for them tonight.
05:37Thank you. Cheers.
