00:00it's beginning to look a lot like Christmas but not nearly enough for my liking I am totally
00:11little miss Christmas I'm Sarah Davies and crafting is my passion especially at Christmas
00:17that looks right thank you mama craft lovely so I'm on a mission to spread a bit of homemade
00:25festive magic each week I'll be joined by two celebrity crafters going head-to-head to make
00:38the best decorations oh it's a contest I mean I'm supposed to pick a winner aren't I together
00:48we'll be sprucing up our trees up to perfection I think I've got a bit roll yes yes and sparking
00:57up our centerpieces nicely filled with paper I've just seen how much you've got it was a
01:03really bad idea so grab your glue guns and let's get Christmas crafting

01:25it's time it is time Christmas is here
01:31today TV's wine with Ollie Smith and presenter and properly hot shot Scarlett Douglas will be rolling
01:39up their sleeves to help me I feel like human tinsel this is the greatest day ever I mean it's better
01:44than Christmas Day I'm full of joy I love glitter so as long as there's lots of glitter there it's
01:49everything just gonna be full of smart things glitter I'm there for don't let me hear the glue
01:54it'll be everywhere okay no it's it I'm the klutz of craft rather than the king of craft in my
01:59household I uh when I wrap a present it looks like a monkey's done it but I'm hoping the skills I'll
02:03learn will change all that I'm really not the best at any sort of arts and crafts I'm not artistic in
02:16the slightest so to actually try and make something Christmassy yeah it's gonna be a interesting Sarah is
02:25the queen of crafting you know she's totally inspiring so if I can just take one little
02:29sparkle from her Christmas bauble and put it in my abilities I'd be delighted
02:33so yeah excited so excited tell me they've delivered me two avid crafters not since primary
02:44school really um right well I mean look I I mean I love the idea about it right it's really excited
02:50about it so much so that I always make a terrible mess and my family won't let me do it I mean look
02:55we're nice and clean at the moment give it 10 minutes and we'll have stuff everywhere but that's
03:00when it gets fun it's all about isn't it when it comes to crafting I think like my mind it's an
03:04organized mess a woman after my own heart organized mess everything my celebrity guests make over the
03:11next few weeks is to transform this beautiful house into a magical Christmas party venue okay so I
03:19actually need your help okay I'm going to be putting you to work today so I want to have a little bit of
03:24a party and invite some of the local people who can't celebrate Christmas Day because they have
03:29to work on Christmas Day they love it I love it so the deal is I'm going to teach you some amazing
03:34crafting that you can then take home and do with the family yeah and in return you're going to help
03:39me decorate the room delighted to like a plan I'm going to start off with is the baubles so I don't
03:44know about you but I've amassed so many baubles over the years yeah nothing ever goes together one year
03:49I've got this color theme the next year I've got this color thing yeah and instead of buying new
03:54I thought we could just upcycle some old ones oh I love it perfect and uh no pressure yeah but I want
04:01to see which of you is the best at this by the day it's got to be surely really I mean I am very
04:07competitive I'm not gonna lie okay so this isn't really the look that's in anymore right this was
04:13so five years a very date right yeah so it goes in phases actually there's a fashion to Christmas
04:17trees I have the Christmas tree from over the years I call it in the living room when we've
04:22got all the baubles that the kids made when they were at school when they were little then I have
04:26my nice fancy Christmas tree at the front yes yes so I can have more than one tree this is news to me
04:30I've never had more than one tree how many trees do you have I have two so I have my big black one and
04:36then I have got a little mini tree as well okay I'm I'm not going to pass comment on this
04:39one oh now I'm intrigued how many you have five trees yes okay well you've got a lot of catching
04:46up today that is Sarah five trees that's such a good I am totally Little Miss Christmas I think
04:53you can have as many trees as you like if you're Sarah I mean she can literally have a forest of
04:57Christmas trees as far as I'm concerned Sarah five trees though that is such a good gangster name
05:01I'm really happy with that so we're going to do a bit of bauble pimping okay using a bit of acrylic
05:06paint yes and flower right oh I can't wait come on pass some baubles down yes go away thank you
05:12all right so I'm going to do red on red so we want a beautiful kind of flocked look to this
05:17Sarah five trees that sounds crazy give yourself a nice big squirt of paint now all I want you to
05:24do is get your paintbrush yes and we're just going to paint a layer of acrylic paint on your
05:30baubles all the way over it all the way over it how did you get into crafting Sarah you know
05:34my mum used to do loads of this when I was little and I just developed a love for it and then I made
05:39it my life and and started a business in the industry when I was at university so always
05:45done a little bit of crafting right now keep it quite thin right okay perfect now I'm going to get
05:51a nice spoonful of flour but the trick is we're going to take it through the sieve and then all we
05:56do is pop the flour over the top right now when the paint dries it will have stuck to the paint and
06:06then we're going to dust off the excess flour okay so you won't see the flour all you'll see is a
06:12lovely flocked effect as soon as you started cascading that I could see a wonderful life just
06:17playing over in my mind Christmas is coming that's wonderful I tell you what here Ollie you take my
06:22can I thank you so much you can get so it's just one hand tapping yes oh Ollie I'm loving this
06:29Ollie it's your little face oh I'm loving now I've got a brilliant tip for you because we need to leave
06:34this to dry yeah I've just got a box and I've got a couple of little skewers in the top of the box
06:40righto so that it'll just hold it while it dries and then after the paint dries we'll be able to use
06:46a nice big brush and dust off the flour right and you'll just get that lovely red flocked effect amazing
06:52oh my word right let me send you another one down what I thought we could do is now maybe flock the
06:58bottom oh I'll have that leave the top empty okay half half and half do you think with crafting that
07:05people's personality does come out in oh it's got to right yeah I think I probably do these in lots
07:12of different colors yeah Sarah what about orange orange is my favorite color am I allowed to do
07:16things in like bright orange at Christmas summer is that really not you hey it's your Christmas can I
07:21you do it however you want great do you not and I bet you orange baubles are hard to come by
07:26could that be a little side business I was just gonna say oh no you could start a side hustle
07:30the orange bauble come orange bauble guy I've already trademarked it it's no use running for
07:34the internet I see so many people doing little side hustle businesses going around the Christmas
07:41craft fairs and how important do you think with those businesses that it's the one thing they truly
07:46love to do oh do you know the thing is I've worked in the craft industry my whole life yeah and
07:51it just doesn't feel like work because I absolutely love what I do do you know I had a similar thing my
07:55mum was a nurse and dad was a teacher and I remember when I started working in wine shops
07:59they were kind of like you're doing what and they didn't really drink wine I mean now they're
08:03absolutely luscious of course but it's true if you do what you love I've always been very lucky
08:08property and interior design it's just always been something I've enjoyed so much and I love every
08:13minute I love every minute of it look at this do we fancy trying a different color I've got some
08:18gold baubles here could you do a pattern and then put the snow on the pattern it's that competitive
08:26Ollie coming out right I don't think it's competitive I think it's joy the spirit is with us
08:30um am I allowed to do that is that breaking the rules there's no rules here really this is your
08:35you do what you want to do this is your craft you do it how you like it it's easy if everyone's got
08:40some paint at home everyone's got some flour yep exactly and just having family time I think is
08:46so awesome we're always so busy actually oh yes having a nice chat what did you get up to today how was
08:51school what's happening you're right though family time yeah I can't get the dog to do it and I
08:56think you'd love that I think you'll have it covered in flour by yeah and a little Busby so
09:02is this it are you going to go and I want to try these flocked baubles at the rest of the family
09:06now I know all my nieces and nephews are going to love doing this it's actually going pretty well
09:11so far I'm loving it it's so therapeutic it really is and now I just want to be here all day
09:16doing as many things as possible and I actually get to so win with right so we're going to leave them
09:21to dry I reckon if we give them about half an hour then we'll dust the flour off and I've
09:26got a perfect other craft for you to do while we wait fancy a bit of marbling look at his little
09:31face okay marbling can I just say I'm not seeing a single marble here I thought we were going to
09:48actually have marbles put them in paint and then maybe like roll them around or something no we're
09:52doing grown-up marbling oh right well what we're going to do is we're going to marble some of these
09:58plain boring white baubles yeah we're going to do them red and gold to match it with our lovely room
10:03my red and gold jig coming on okay so warm water okay so you want the water warm because when we
10:09spray the spray paint on top it's going to sit on the surface and we're going to mix the colours
10:13together that's where we get the marbling right and we're doing it outside because it's spray paint
10:18yeah right the trick is you want to go quite fast so that the colours merge together okay all right
10:24so gold bit of red bit of gold while it's still marbled like that then we go oh nice yeah oh I love
10:33that there is that gorgeous yeah marble technique so that's beautiful it's like two-tone it's blending
10:40my word that's what we're going to do that's what we're hoping we're going to do that is what we are
10:46going to do that's what's going to happen Sarah who wants to go first yeah let's do it go for it
10:50okay straight in straight in so gold yeah red yeah bit more bit more bit more yeah look at that marble
10:59beautiful ready into the dunk
11:01that's not bad that's pretty good right give it a go so spray red spray gold right that's it so it's in
11:15in round oh that's so close do you know what you're doing you're squiseling it round
11:21yeah just go in scoop up these are going to be pros by the time we finish yes okay yeah ready to go
11:28again yeah this is it now okay ready yes so straight in round up
11:36that's looking fabulous yes I'm happy with that one oh come on Ollie no pressure pressure's on I'm on you just nailed it I know I actually did nail it thank you come on I believe I believe Christmas spirit so it's in
11:50in one go in catch it all round oh yes come on I'm really happy with my baubles it's amazing how
12:00quickly the confidence builds that is fantastic you know by the time we had a bit of ribbon and have them
12:04dangling they're going to catch the light oh do you know what I think to start with I was definitely
12:09doing a little bit better than Ollie but he's doing all right I might sabotage him down the line
12:13no I would never do that but I've got my eye on Ollie I really have I'm so chuffed with that any colour
12:18you could be doing them in gold and pink oh and I could be doing the morning
12:23a dream get the guy some orange spray paints I need spray paints
12:28now all being well that little jaunt outside will have given these time to dry yes and we want to
12:44make sure that the paid's dry and that flour has stuck oh yes it has the flour's stuck to it nicely
12:51just brushing off the excess and of course it's only flour so it just costs pennies and the good
12:56thing is if your paint's dried you kind of can't go wrong at this stage yeah it's not like you can
13:01brush it too hard and knock it off because the paint has left it in yes so that makes and actually at
13:06that point you can always just bring your hands and just rub off the excess and actually look they're
13:09quite gentle it's really good right so you get that lovely bit of a it would match me do you know if
13:17we got you some mini baubles I'd be game for it I'd go full pack butcher yeah right try some of your
13:25half ones oh yeah the ones that you did a little pattern on oh that looks really yeah I like this
13:31one that's quite fun that's worked really well I think that's quite well yeah yeah it's so good
13:36and then we could start and personalize them a bit oh yes so what I've got is I've got some acrylic
13:41paint pens and I'm just going to draw some little stars or snowflakes on here so anything festive
13:47what what's what's Christmassy like snowflakes how do you do a snowflake oh you've done that
13:51so I've done some little stars yeah you could do stars you could do snowflakes we could do some
13:56berries you've got the green oh you could do some holly little Christmas tree yeah oh I think that
14:02might be my favorite song oh yes we need a little Christmas tipple don't we on the table while we're
14:10doing our crafting a snowball something like that what's in a snowball it's got avocado in it which
14:15is that funny egg stuff and then a bit of lemonade and then you kind of do a frosted edge of it they
14:19can be quite fun those ones Christmas cocktails so what I want to know is Ollie what are the family
14:24going to make of your crafting skills now I think they'll be really amazed I don't think they'll think
14:29I'm like a full craft wizard but I think they'll be thrilled that I'm actually not just able to do
14:35a bit but into it this time yet this is your first project yes I love craft wizardry by the end of the
14:42day oh I'd love that yeah I've never thought of myself as an artist and I would never go that far
14:48but I revel in my baubles let's just leave it at that ready to start try something new oh what we've
14:55got next I think we need to work on the Christmas garland as well oh hello yeah yeah love it let's
15:02finish the baubles get ready to do the garland okay this is brilliant thank you
15:07so group project we're going to work together to make the perfect garland oh hang on what garland
15:25I'm thinking is that a wreath what is a garland it's a Judy it's a Judy it's a singer I do love
15:30you of course it is Christmas should be one big song exactly a big sing song no let's get to it
15:35let's get to it so this is a garland right couldn't wrap it and over the fireplace oh yeah you can do
15:42it down the center of the table we could have it going up the stairs so it's a lot of work creating
15:48one from scratch it's going to be much easier to take a simple one yes and add our own embellishments
15:54now this is a very plain boring garland yeah right we're going to make it look fabulous and we're
16:01going to add all sorts of embellishments right some of which we're going to make oh some of which we're
16:07going to forage for yeah so the first thing I want you to do is get out there in the garden and let's go
16:12and see what we can find anything Christmassy looking and we're going to add it we've got it and I
16:16want to see who brings the best foliage back and look for some mistletoe yeah oh pack her up holly
16:21I love a bit of gardening oh I love a bit of gardening yeah this stuff looks good oh yes definitely
16:32we'll have a bit of this oh it's got a bit of ivy there let me get you a bit oh yeah yeah play fair
16:38how are you doing over here I'm just looking for tips checking you know little bits here and there
16:44friendly rivalry yeah oh thank you oh look at that ollie is brilliant I absolutely love him
16:52um and I think even though of course there's a little bit of competitiveness to this and I guess
16:57we both really want to do well but we're having a big laugh together so i'll be spotted can you see
17:02what look at all the holly there with all the nice and lovely amazing you should have kept that quiet
17:06and he wouldn't have spotted I wouldn't have spotted would have given you the edge totally
17:10sharing is caring sharing is caring merry christmas I've got fairly low hopes about winning today
17:16scarlet's brill and also she makes it really fun I feel I could talk to those two for the rest of my
17:22life like I wouldn't mind if we were on the beach at Margay up a mountain in the bath or we're probably in the other
17:27bath but having fun together I just think they're brill oh she's gone and big I went in look at that
17:33one lovely jubbly full bush takedown we've got plenty yellow yes come on the holly and the ivy
17:43when they have a full crown oh hey you've got quite the little assortment here in mind haven't you
18:09yeah yes we've got a bit of all sorts okay so the trick is we're going to make little clumps of
18:15our own foliage yeah and then we're going to wire them together and then wire them onto the garland
18:21okay okay so get your scissors out and let's start cutting a couple of little clumps so see what
18:27you fancy so I might get a little bit of ivy see I'm looking at this this feels a bit too much so I can cut
18:34that down a little bit and cut a few pieces out a little prickle there is that one of your spikes
18:41that you put in there for me how's that is that roughly the sort of clumpy size we're looking for
18:49what a clump Ollie what they don't call me clumpy Ollie for nothing right so I'm going to get a few
18:55of my little bits together so you want to get a nice big bit so that you've got all of the stalks
19:01together okay now if you just wrap the wire around eventually it'll just come on so this is what
19:08we're going to do you're going to take your piece of wire yeah and we're going to put a bend in it
19:13you're going to lie that bend next to the clump and then take your big long piece and wind that round
19:18oh right right so now this is not going anywhere right because it's held by your little bend so now
19:27we can just think right where are we going to add this got it we'll add it here and now
19:32we'll wire it onto here and you see what a difference it makes it looks like a really
19:37simple garland yeah but we're adding our own foliage so it becomes more authentic and it smells so good
19:42as well just feel that yeah it's gone from being a single to an album
19:46oh already do you know blink and i missed it that is bad right competitive so is it going to be
19:55house full for you this year for christmas Ollie i think it's just going to be me and the girls
19:59and safe this year and of course busby the dog who loves christmas more than anyone else
20:03look at him in his christmas antlers oh bless his heart very happy for christmas i pinch a bit of
20:10this yeah of course thank you very much i actually did steal that from your bucket did you oh now it
20:14starts so it's coming from that bucket my bucket is your bucket scarlet thank you any other christmas
20:20traditions anybody you know god carol singing i do a lot of sign language and then when i first started
20:26yeah when i first started learning the deaf club that i went to we were just signing christmas songs like
20:32carols that's lovely and it was so beautiful the music going along so obviously people would
20:35understand what we were signing it's actually the most amazing thing so oh that's fabulous yeah that
20:40is what a skill to have as well what what a skill yeah i'd love to be able to sign that yeah now imagine
20:47this is your christmas table i will and you've got this winding up the center of the table with all of
20:52the fresh foliage see it that beautiful we make a good team have we done all right we're making good
20:57cheers we are working well as a team i think you've got to you've got to help each other
21:02everybody has their strengths and their weaknesses so it's about coming together collaborating and
21:06making something super beautiful and i think we will this is just the start though how about we
21:10add a few pine cones on as well yeah yes right so get yourself a bit of wire again yeah all you're doing
21:17is threading the wire through the pine corn and then it just holds it in place do you know what i
21:24thought we could do though add a bit of snow to them yes yes and of course we've got our flower
21:29still yeah all right so get yourself a brush yeah a little bit of glue and we'll just snow tip the
21:36ends of the pine corn and in the same way that we're just going to use a little bit of flour
21:41yeah to tip these with you could tip them in your glitter i know you love it oh scarlet i do i've
21:47been waiting for some glitter sprinkle the flour on okay oh look at how good they look what that is
21:59so simple and so effective so easy and then we'll just leave them to dry and once the glue's hardened
22:04we can wire them on look at it very nice let's talk about the christmas cakes yes so how far in
22:13advance do you let your fruit soak so we have a really nice jamaican christmas cake and we have
22:19a gentleman that makes it for us every year he will soak his fruits in rum from the year before
22:25the year before yeah so that no wonder he's well and truly totally soaked in it's amazing right like
22:32oh it's delicious and are you a turkey girl at christmas we have everything we go for turkey chicken
22:39gammon who will also go with beef well then we obviously have the potatoes and you've got your
22:44parsnips and your carrots and your turnips we get some fried planting in there we get rice and peas we
22:48get normal rice we get fried dumpling i'm coming round yeah we we go in i mean we always have the
22:54leftovers on boxing day but i'm imagining you'll be still eating those on the end of the eve
23:00exactly do you know what i was wondering scarlet as soon as i've taught you how to wire pine corns together
23:05yeah any chance you'll teach us to sign merry christmas oh absolutely yeah okay so we say happy
23:13more than merry so happy happy which is it could be merry as well but happy christmas here you go
23:19happy christmas done great love it happy christmas to all to all yes
23:39we're back for more christmas crafting now everyone knows how much i love christmas trees
23:45but this one is a little bit different now i just can't help myself i like to craft up everything
23:51and i thought i'd make a little cream cheese christmas tree just to keep scarlet nollie going all day
23:57now it's got a bit of cling film and i'm just going to roll that out you can use any cream cheese you
24:04want this is just a regular cream cheese and i'm going to pop that in the middle and then just fashion it
24:10into a bit of a tree and then i'm just going to pop that in the freezer just for 10 minutes you want
24:20to be long enough that it firms up but not so long that it loses its texture
24:26and then while that's chilling i'm just going to cut a bit of dill up that we can wrap our tree in
24:40all right i'm just going to roll my tree in the dill
24:58and then that will just sit on display looks great doesn't it and we'll put a few little baubles on the tree
25:10and then it's going to add a few little crackers now you could add some little plate
25:19diamonds if you want make some lights or maybe you want add some cranberries on make it really festive
25:25anything that's going to go with the cheese really but how cute is my little christmas tree
25:40and now it's time to see if my cheesy tree passes ollie and scarlett's taste test
25:49so as you've all been working so hard a little treat for us last night look ready for a bit of
25:56mid-garland work pickup i love it beautiful pomegranate wow see i love a bit of food crafting
26:05as well i can see that just soft cheese it looks great i'm dipping in i've broken my biscuits straight
26:12off now i'll be really honest there we are i've got it i wanted to serve this up at the party
26:17so i just wanted to know is it good enough yeah that is fully fully brilliant okay it's good
26:22dill works the soft cheese is great a little bit of pomegranate for a crunch yeah
26:29pomegranate really works with it it really does
26:30mm-hmm so uh which wine would you recommend with this thing i would say a good italian white wine
26:37fiano is a good one it's good value you'll be delicious with that
26:40fiano yeah it's kind of peachy not too sharp but it'd be a real crowd pleaser for christmas as well
26:46yeah a real crowd yeah yeah we can't sit around eating all day our gorgeous garland isn't nearly
26:54christmassy enough yet but i know just what to add
26:57right what i thought we'd do is add a few nice bows right right bows bows forget i have to use the
27:06queen's english rose yes all on bows up here right you need a bow maker so all i'm going to do is stick
27:15two spoons to the side of the table yeah all right so what we're going to do is we're going to wrap the
27:19ribbon around the spoons okay okay so let's get a nice size piece of ribbon mm-hmm you feeling nervous
27:26yeah yeah don't worry okay all we do ready is you go around the spoons yes yes cross it in front of
27:35you the piece that's at the top yep goes underneath okay back over the top oh you tie a knot
27:44it's like a cheeky bow tie okay so i'm gonna put that one over ross
27:50under here see it nice and tight right and then take both your strands in front of you yeah both
27:56strands in front and then when you got to the ends you see you can fold the ends together
28:00and you trim away and diagonal a way diagonal okay and away lovely and you get that nice little
28:07finish at the end and then once you've got it you just lift that up oh and then that's it
28:13come on that's pretty cool that's the bow was that not super easy yeah really and very quick
28:18yeah oh oh yes hello i love making the bows on the little trick with the two spoons brilliant
28:25so i'll definitely be using that now once you've got the technique yeah you can use that for any size
28:31bow okay so let's imagine you've got a lovely big wreath on the front of the door and you want a
28:35beautiful big double board the bottom right some nice big ribbon right now you need a friend for
28:44this oh am i going to be the spoons you you're going to be the space okay so where you put your
28:50hands yeah and tell big the boys so here would be a small one this would be a big wide one oh yeah so
28:56this is it's the same way you stick the spoons yeah all right what i'm going to do is i'm going to go
28:59around right hold them tight then i'm going to wrap around for a second one because we're going to go
29:04for a double ball a little bit closer together i think right that's it right we'll go over the back
29:12tie a knot
29:15and then when you lift that off oh wow that looks so good it really does look great
29:22you'd pay a fortune for one of those workshops yeah and that took what 30 seconds yeah yeah yeah it's
29:27cool as long as you've got a little friend bravo but our garland's not done yet next comes the most
29:36exquisite embellishment of all we're going to make the iconic festive flower in felt the poinsettia
29:45to me it's just the christmas flower my mum has one every year every year in the hallway yeah my
29:50mum does she loves it now for this you're going to want your glue gun yes yeah and some bits of felt
29:59yes and then these are the little templates i've cut out for you oh thank you just have a little go
30:05cutting them out so you're just going around the shape of it that's it around the shape okay
30:12i'm going to start like this i do you know i've never used a glue gun in my whole life long oh
30:18you're going to love it every house needs a glue gun yeah yes right on so we'll start with our
30:25steaming in the middle yes so you want the yellow bit okay and what i want you to do is we're going
30:31to put a line of hot glue along the edge on the top and then fold it in half so that it's stuck
30:37together down one edge like this okay so gentle squeeze so then fold it over once we've got to
30:44this stage yes do is i want you to cut up but only to where we've got the glue oh yeah okay okay
30:52so not all the way through so close to all the way through then
30:59right done right we're going to put glue on the middle and we're going to roll it up
31:03like this so then we're rolling it tightly oh you are quite the craft in this oh yes yes
31:16i think it's once you know what you're doing yeah just just no watch it and having the confidence
31:21just go oh that looks very good the king of crafting over there very where's my crown
31:27oh here it is right so we should have three small petals yeah nine large petals yeah four leaves
31:36we're going to put a little bit of glue in the middle like this
31:40and we're just going to nip that together to form that ship
31:43i really get into the concentration mode when i do this like just in the zone yeah i love it
31:57but right controversial question go on hey when does the tree go up
32:03i like to put mine up quite early what do you constitute as early i would say the minute
32:09we hit november that's it it's going up wow that is quite early yeah i like that go big or go home
32:14yep we're pretty classic ours goes up tree goes up first of december okay december yeah yeah when
32:19do you do yours sarah um as early as that my husband will let me get away with it so july
32:31i've done all those right right we're all good i'm ready to go for it yes we are okay what happens
32:35now so what we're going to do is we're going to start with our middle bit yeah and then we're going
32:38to add a few of the small petals then the larger ones and then the leaves around the outside okay okay
32:45so just hold it upside down ready yeah a little bit of hot glue this is the little little red one
32:52first and it's facing upwards oh wait no i think this is supposed to go the other way right does the

34:03garlands yeah if you just reach up and find a little spot oh and then things like our poinsettia
34:09we're just going to add the hot glue on the back yes and then just stick that in place with the hot
34:15glue gun spread through these yes doesn't it look good so you could have this up the center of the
34:23table yeah you could have this over the hearth imagine this going up the staircase this is fab i
34:30mean it's a celebration for christmas yeah love one yeah thank you so much what put that one there
34:34i think yeah your work here is not done though oh i'm glad to hear it no i thought i could make
34:40some christmas gifts hey yes okay wait till you see what i've got planned for you
34:58christmas is the right time to raise a glass
35:01so i've got a fabulous festive drink to toast the season in style so i thought i'd do the guys a
35:08little treat and i love a mimosa and i thought what better than have a beautiful orange rose mimosa
35:15planned for them so it's dead easy just going to take some oranges and cut them into thin slices
35:21so around about oh i'd say about a third of an inch
35:24and then on the bottoms i'm just going to slice them off like this to make a bit of a crescent shape
35:37so you want a large in first then a medium coming the other way and then right in the middle
35:46you want a cute little small one and i'm just layering them around each other to form that lovely
35:55little rose shape
36:04then once you've got your oranges in like a raw shape i'm just going to top them up just with water
36:09straight out the top they'll pop in the freezer and they should freeze perfect
36:25and i mean they look brilliant and all i'm going to do these silicon molds are ideal
36:32you see you just place one in the glass
36:39oh and the great thing is you could use a bit of non-alcoholic fizz a bit of tonic water for the kids
36:52and that is my orange rose mimosa
36:55now let's see what our resident wine expert makes of my merry little mimosa

37:12little mimosa thank you keep morale high oh i'd love one of those that makes sure the last bit of
37:18crafting is on point that's gorgeous that's so cool so here is the thing i've crafted up the ice cube
37:25no way uh-huh so that then all we do is add a little bit of champagne on top oh look at that
37:33such a cool idea and the mimosa happens in the glass in that's so clever they are a
37:39shorestopper at a party i'm blown away i'm wowed
37:46to us to us to us in our epic epic crafting
37:54it would just feel like a treat doesn't it oh lovely
38:00i've got one last craft for us and it's a really special one i wanted to be able to teach you a nice
38:06gift that you could make yes a homemade gift is so much nicer than whatever you're going to do
38:11shop bot so true now we're gonna do some glass painting and the great thing is you've probably
38:15got most of the stuff that you need at home right but then for all of the extra bits that you need
38:20you just get them delivered so here's my amazon delivery hey i ordered all the extra bits that i
38:25needed some of the paint brushes these are called gilding flakes and then you want this special what's
38:34called relief paint so this is going to go permanent on glass okay but before we do any
38:41glass painting we're going to start with the gilding okay so it's up to you where you want to go but i
38:46find maybe it's halfway up the stem to a little bit up here okay i'll put some of the special glue for
38:52gilding flakes so we're going to dip the sponge in and then we're just going to dab it on to the wine
38:58glass like this okay so what you should see is as it's going on it looks a little bit blue yeah if
39:05it's blue it's too sticky we need to wait for it to dry but it will dry too tacky then we can apply
39:12the gilding so we'll know it's ready when it's gone completely clear so you'll be able to hand wash
39:16these no but you won't be able to put them in the dishwasher okay and everything will still stay on and
39:21everything will still stay that's amazing okay it's very cool now do you think we should put them to
39:25one side and wait for the glue to dry and you want to practice the next technique let's do it don't
39:30mix them up with your mimosa no one okay what talk about mimosa yes oh yes well it's thirsty work isn't
39:38it this crafting it's such thirsty work right so what we're going to do is we're going to paint
39:46christmas trees we're going to do it with a cocktail stick okay once we've perfected it on the acetate
39:51then you can do it on your glass okay i'm going to draw a little line okay and then i'm going to
39:59make it thicker at the bottom with the cocktail stick we're going to start top of the tree just
40:05spread a little bit and then widening it out oh widening it out wine it now it's not going to be
40:12perfect first time no but then you can go back over it that's many times as you want that's really good
40:19so just take your time
40:27oh i need to go bigger okay go bigger go bigger or go home
40:33oh the gold's pretty good isn't it
40:35oh gold hello gold let's have a little look how are your trees looking yes
40:45getting there hey not bad at all you know they all look really good okay pop your acetate to one side
40:51then okay and should we check our glasses see if they're ready to guild yes is it blue or has it gone
40:58clear clear clear clear yeah right in that case then we're ready for the gilding flakes oh my word
41:05right take the gilding flakes we're going to pop them on and tap it into place
41:16and don't worry if you get any gaps or whatever because we just fill them in with little bits at the
41:21end and what's nice is it's never perfect each one you make will be different and unique it's like
41:28this sort of magic fallen leaves the last leaves of autumn into winter
41:34so when you get to the stage yeah then you can start being quite aggressive and rubbing off all
41:38of the excess i've been quite brutal i'm showing it who's boss which is very rare for me that is
41:43exactly what we need cowering in a corner i mean isn't that spectacular we happy very happy that's
41:52remarkable stuff once you get the gilding bug you will be looking around to see what you can
41:58guild i'm thinking of gilding busby i was thinking bless him he's gonna need to run away
42:03give him a little golden beard do you think we can go and add the christmas trees let's do it
42:08yes yes so same technique yes just like what we did but you're just doing it on the glass this time
42:13yes confidence is key just keep working it keep working it
42:27i'm thinking of getting the gold and putting a little star on the top yeah absolutely borrow away
42:32right yeah get in there thank you no problem to it now i'm getting creative yes just being able to
42:39make them each different make them your own drawing on them i was maybe making some little christmas
42:44trees on my one put some little stars on them as well that's beautiful that looks nice even just with
42:49one on each one is different and i think that's what's really good little tree next big tree little
42:54tree car bubble box i just have no idea what my family are going to say when they see this they
43:02won't believe it for a start they'll be like no you didn't do that someone else did it off camera
43:06and when i give them little trinkets this christmas i just hope it lights up their world
43:12so ollie hello if this is what we're going to be drinking our rare christmas wine in this year yeah
43:17what wine would you suggest in these beautiful glasses oh do you know what if you're looking for a
43:21wine that's going to go with turkey and all the trimmings it's a bit of a crowd pleaser yeah quite
43:26light and body that everyone's going to love bit of pinot noir from new zealand oh it's fruity with a bit of umph
43:32what about if we wanted to spark sparkler oh it's got to be english fizz gotta be honestly it's
43:36really great because we've got the climate for it and it's passion it's dedication it's people
43:42living with attention to detail doing something they love and the results are off the chart well
43:47aren't we a prime example of that now doing something we love yes with passion and getting
43:52the best results yes that's what life should be about isn't it so i've got mine done yours is
43:59looking fabulous there and thank you seriously for all your kind guidance it's been a hoot do you
44:05know what i can teach anyone with this level of enthusiasm if you've got the passion for it
44:09you don't need to have the skill the skill is what we're here to teach
44:13i'm having a great day but i don't want it to end sorrow is so good she's a great teacher and even if
44:18something looks terrible she'll make you feel like you've made an absolute masterpiece it just makes
44:22you feel really proud once you've managed to do it i think that's what happens when we get
44:26we get older we feel like we don't want to make a mistake or yes you don't want to get embarrassed
44:30by doing something wrong but actually like you said with this you can't really go wrong you can't
44:33go wrong and also as we've shown the more you practice the better you get exactly i mean look
44:39how good those trees look they look fun they look brilliant on the first one they look perfection by
44:43the last yes that's right as i went round they got better and better i have loved every single minute
44:50i've never thought of myself as an artist but i'd love to think that i could maybe create something
44:56that would give a little bit of happiness to other people that's what it's all about now i was supposed
45:01to choose which one of you had crafted the best today it's all right it's all right
45:10but honestly i can't you you've both thrown yourselves into it there's no way i could pick between
45:17oh you've all been absolutely brilliant yes and you know what's been the best thing for me seeing
45:23the look of pure joy on your faces yeah it has been unbelievably joyful early christmas present
