00:00I love the colour but yeah it's not it's too bright. The intensity at the moment so
00:08close to the end is ridiculous. Well if he doesn't do it on Thursday it won't be
00:15done in time. He's pushing it already. I'm just having to leave it all in John's
00:21hands. It just couldn't be worse timing really. I think it's pretty touch and go
00:35as to whether everything will be finished for the housewarming party. It's too close to call.
00:44The house is sort of under control. Nothing to panic about. That wall is giving us a lot of
00:51grey hairs. We're going to have this lovely party. Just behind us is going to be this grey ugly beast.
00:58Don't wind me up. In hindsight maybe I shouldn't have called her. The guitarist,
01:05I can't even say the bloody basics. How am I going to get a band? We've only got 24 hours
01:09till our housewarming party so there's still quite a lot to do inside. I probably will have to pull
01:14it all nighter to get it all ready for tomorrow. So I've got that one, I've got that one but then
01:18the little ones haven't arrived. Oh no. What am I going to do?
01:25We're exhausted but we're ready to party.
01:29It's actually making me emotional.
01:31On the Costa del Sol in Estepona, Jasmine and John are just two days away from hosting a
01:45housewarming party for friends and family. However, many sections of the house, including the garden,
01:53need finishing off. Without Jasmine able to oversee the work as she's filming in Portugal.
01:59I am away for a few days with work and feeling a bit guilty to be honest because I've left John
02:08with the kids off school, with the renovation coming down to the wire. I've tried to organise
02:13as much as I can before I left but still I'm, yeah, just worrying about things and
02:20feeling bad for leaving him to deal with it all single-handedly.
02:25It feels like quite a long time since I've been left home alone.
02:30Jazz left me quite a big list of things that need to be finished. I mean the headlines are the garden
02:35is nowhere near finished, there's no grass on the floor, the wall in the back garden is nowhere near
02:40finished, the living room is not finished. Basically perfect time for Jazz to be away. The party itself also
02:48needs some attention. We need to organise food, drinks, maybe a surprise and some entertainment.
02:53So yeah, not only do we have the renovation to do while Jazz is away, we also have to make
02:58sure the party can happen in the first place. John's biggest challenge could be the garden wall.
03:05It's the last piece of major work on the renovation and it's a lengthy process for lead plasterer,
03:11Matt. Yeah, I'm rending it, I'm trying to straighten out the wall. And as soon as I've finished
03:20straightening it out, then we put a final coat. It's white, it's a very fine aggregate. It has
03:26lime in it, it's breathable and waterproof as well. And that'll be the finished coat on it then,
03:32just painted and then that's it. Matt can't apply the final coat until tomorrow,
03:36once the render is dry, which is why there's a danger of missing the party deadline.
03:42I'm about as confident as winning the lottery. Well, we're trying.
03:49We're trying. Trying our best, that's all we can do. That wall is giving us a lot of grey hairs.
03:56Jazz and I have huge concerns that we're going to have this lovely party.
04:00Just behind us or to our left is going to be this sort of grey, ugly beast.
04:06Until the wall is completed, the garden also can't be finished.
04:10The site has to be clear of building work before the turf that's just arrived can be laid.
04:18Yeah, once we get it over there, we'll give it a good water.
04:20We're wrestling turf. I'd say of all the things we've ordered,
04:31turf is the one thing you don't want to arrive early in the 35 degree heat.
04:35All right? Yeah. You got me as well though.
04:37Oh, sorry.
04:43And so now we've all just hoofed the turf from the very hot sunny front of the house to
04:48the only naturally shady patch around the back of the house.
04:59Hope that we can get that turf down. If not, I fear that we've just wasted a pallet for the turf.
05:07It's a human chain of turf.
05:10We just need to remember to hose and water the turf along with the plants,
05:13otherwise Jazz is going to come back and we'll have dead turf and dead plants,
05:17which is a distinct possibility. I'm not very green-fingered.
05:20Anyway, we've now got turf sitting around waiting to be laid.
05:26Meanwhile, in the lounge, the marble floor that now extends through to the kitchen is being polished.
05:33Hola. Bien, bien.
05:38Unless you look really closely, you can barely see where the old tiles end and the new ones start.
05:43I mean, it was amazing.
05:47The old floor, I am guessing, was at least 15, possibly 20 years old.
05:54And the new floor has just gone down. It blends seamlessly.
05:57I was sceptical. I stand very corrected.
06:01John can now green light bringing in the first piece of furniture, the new sofa.
06:05Getting furniture like the sofa sort of inter-situ in the living room.
06:11You feel like this is it. We are definitely on the downhill straight.
06:19Furniture is going into place. The floor has been polished. Let's get this done.
06:23Outside in the garden, the rendering of the wall is gathering pace, allowing John to turn his
06:32attention to another important task.
06:34A singer. Un cantante.
06:38Jasmine hasn't a clue that he's secretly planning live entertainment for the party.
06:43A band with traditional music.
06:46I need to knuckle down with my Spanish to try and organise something for this surprise.
06:52Because, you know, entertainment, partying, music, it's not an element of my limited Spanish vocabulary
06:59that I know anything about. So, John's turning to a language app for help.
07:13I've been winging everything since we got to Spain.
07:16I'd say I've bumbled through my Spanish classes. Much like this entire renovation.
07:21I should have been practicing about six months ago. But life and renovation and family,
07:32it's slightly gone in the way.
07:33I can't even say the bloody basics. How am I going to get a band?
07:43But there's no more time for dress rehearsals. So, John has little choice but to take the plunge.
07:51Good afternoon. My name is John.
07:54Is she available for dancing at a party on Saturday?
08:02Oh, I'm sorry. Okay, nothing happens.
08:05But I did understand that she wasn't available on Saturday.
08:08I think that's the key.
08:10Hello, I'm talking to Julio.
08:12Is she available for dancing at a party on Saturday?
08:18How much time is it?
08:20How much time is it?
08:21Oh, for everything. Perfect.
08:24Tremendous messages with details of my hunting.
08:31Perfect. Thank you.
08:33Let's see if Julio turns up on Saturday.
08:38I might have just booked a juggler for next Thursday, but, you know, hey-ho.
08:47It's another whole day before Jasmine returns, but John wants to keep her in the loop.
08:52I know Jazz will be secretly wondering what's going on back here while she works in Portugal,
08:58so I'm going to try and catch her when she's not working and give her a quick phone call.
09:02I know you're working hard, but I actually think getting out of the house for a few days has probably done you some good.
09:20Yeah, before I have a complete meltdown and start shouting at everyone.
09:25How are the kids, by the way?
09:26Are you seeing me?
09:27Yeah, I'm not sure they've noticed you've gone.
09:30Now, um...
09:31Rude!
09:32Uh, so, yeah, the house is sort of under control.
09:38The electrician's here tomorrow, and I think he'll be here for most of the day, but, you know,
09:41fingers crossed the light's alive, he can fit those on the exterior wall,
09:44he can finish some light fittings that we need around the house.
09:48So, because we're behind on the wall, we've currently got lots of turf rolled up, drying out.
09:54Well, I am watering it, obviously, but I'm drying under the trees, so it'll be fine, don't worry.
09:59Like, it's just annoying, isn't it, with the best will in the world, things just go wrong, don't I?
10:05When you've got, like, the best laid plans.
10:08But when you've got a schedule this tight, you know...
10:09I thought I'd just sort of get sleeping out.
10:12Yeah.
10:12Right, I've got to go. I'll call you when I finish work.
10:15Nothing to panic about.
10:16You did want the front room cupboards purple, didn't you?
10:20Don't wind me up.
10:21Don't wind me up.
10:23Speak to you later.
10:24Bye, bye, love you, bye.
10:25Bye.
10:26Bye.
10:27I'm not entirely sure if that phone call has set Jaz's mind at rest or given her more to worry about.
10:34In hindsight, maybe I shouldn't have called her, but it's fine.
10:37Everything is going well here.
10:39Just be going a bit better when she's back to help.
10:56The renovation team now have only one working day before Jasmine and John's housewarming party to finish the job.
11:08So head builder Dominic is rallying the troops for one final push.
11:14Priority today is the garden wall.
11:17A cappuccinoing right across it.
11:20Massive amount of work in one day, 40 degrees.
11:24We're running out of time, but we'll get there.
11:26You can feel it start dragging because it's wet.
11:34You can see a couple of dents in there.
11:37And then it's just filled in and gets us smoother.
11:43If you see a little blemish, you just rub it in.
11:45Exactly, yeah.
11:49With Jasmine expected home later in the day,
11:52John's checking on progress.
11:54Oh, yes.
11:57Looking good.
11:59Looking amazing, in fact.
12:01Looks like a totally different wall.
12:04Hopefully it's done in time to get the turf on this afternoon.
12:09Next, John is tackling another important task,
12:12picking up some essential supplies for the housewarming.
12:15The house isn't finished and we're not ready for the party,
12:18but I thought it was the perfect time to leave the house again.
12:21And go for a little shop.
12:28A few weeks ago, the family discovered a local vegan market
12:32and were so impressed, they've booked the same caterers,
12:35leaving John responsible only for snacks and refreshments.
12:40Right.
12:43I've done well. I've made a list.
12:44It's more than I normally do.
12:46I mean, basically, it's drinks. Drinks and drinks.
12:51I want a young, fruity, easy-drinking red for Tinto de Valano.
13:00Table wine mixed with soda is a popular cold drink in Spain.
13:08I'm easily sidetracked when it comes to wine shopping or any shopping in general.
13:13I'm not sure many people will drink white wine, but a white Rioja for anyone that does.
13:19I probably need some Prosecco or some Cava.
13:22Right, come on.
13:23Make a decision.
13:24Buy some Cava and get to the beer.
13:26Ha-ha, beer.
13:39And it's on offer.
13:40I feel like I'm being the least decisive I've been in quite a while.
13:51I feel like Jas and I are at the end of a very long few months.
13:55I mean, it's great to look what we've got at the end of it,
13:57but it doesn't take away from the fact we're exhausted, but we're ready to party.
14:04Mission accomplished.
14:05A trolley full of refreshments, drinks, crisps and olives.
14:12On the way home, John is making a stop-off at a vegan bakery,
14:17where earlier in the year, Joy and Albion had a hands-on lesson.
14:21Oh, wow!
14:23Yeah.
14:25Gabriella.
14:26After that, as another party surprise for Jasmine,
14:29John knows exactly what to order.
14:33Cinnamon rolls, like you did with the kids.
14:36And a chocolate cake.
14:37And a chocolate cake.
14:38And also, you're obviously very welcome to come to the party.
14:41Oh, thank you very much for the invitation.
14:44Hopefully, the house will be finished.
14:45The way we're going, there might be some wet paint on the walls and stuff like that,
14:49but it'll be fine.
14:50Lovely.
14:51Can't wait to see it.
14:52Ah, thank you so much.
14:53Thank you very much.
14:54I'll see you on Saturday.
14:56Perfect. Bye.
14:57There's another box ticked off my to-do list for the party.
15:00Cakes organised.
15:02We need to sort out everything else.
15:04And not to mention my enormous to-do list for the house.
15:10John's top priority has been the garden wall and turfing the area around the pool.
15:16In the time he's been away on his shopping expedition, that's all been done and dusted.
15:20While inside, Martin the electrician has been fitting the last of the plug sockets.
15:33Which means a momentous milestone has been reached, as the builders and the team are now officially
15:39finished on the renovation.
15:41Go on, Quinn.
15:42Here you go.
15:44Ah, yeah.
15:44I'll take the top one.
15:45Thank you very much.
15:46Cheers, dude.
15:47Good.
15:48Thanks so much.
15:48I'm honestly, thank you.
15:49Thank you for all your work.
15:50Cheers, mate.
15:51Honestly, thank you for everything.
15:52No worries, mate.
15:53Especially this week.
15:54Everyone's been busting their gut.
15:56Dom, last but not least.
15:57If these were cold, mate, I'll drink them all now.
15:59Well, that is literally, I said, if they were cold, I would have drunk them by now.
16:02You wouldn't have gone to you, would you?
16:05Oh, we can do it like a tiered one, like a tiered one.
16:07Oh, my God.
16:08It's not a football team.
16:10Jasmine has returned from Portugal in the nick of time to join in on a team photo.
16:15Ready?
16:20Good work, good work.
16:22Thanks, everyone.
16:25Cheers, chaps.
16:27After the farewells, Jasmine is getting stuck into the remaining job she needs to do around the house.
16:38I think I'll have to go away more often because I can't believe the amount that they've managed
16:41to get done in such a short space of time. So much has changed. The floor's been polished.
16:48The wall's been finished. The grass is down. That's what happens when you put the pressure on.
16:56And we've only got 24 hours till our housewarming party. So there's still quite a lot to do inside.
17:02You know, putting all the little finishing touches everywhere. So hopefully I won't have to pull an
17:08all-nighter, but I don't know. I probably will have to pull an all-nighter to get it all ready for tomorrow.
17:13Since the lounge is the first room guests will see when they walk in the front door, Jasmine's paying
17:20it particular attention.
17:21I need to use my internal spirit level.
17:25Straight, yeah.
17:30What do we do about this wall? We haven't really...
17:32Well, these are two of the items that were meant to go on the wall. They are supposed to be part of a
17:39gallery wall with some other smaller prints and a mirror and, you know, a plate and lots of things,
17:45but some of the other stuff hasn't arrived. So I'm not sure how to approach it, because it's supposed
17:51to look like this. We'd find some other ones. Oh yeah, that's nice. Really nice.
17:59So I've got that one, I've got that one, and I've got that one, but then the little ones haven't
18:04arrived. Also, I feel like if this was the UK, we'd go up in the loft, get like some bits and make it
18:10work, but here we're kind of... Which is that an idea? We'll go back to the UK tonight.
18:14What about those Ingella prints? You know the panther? And the tiger? And the kids' bedrooms?
18:22They would look super nice in here.
18:27Oh no! What was this?
18:29It's now the evening before Jasmine and John's housewarming guests arrive,
18:47and parts of the house are still in an unfinished state.
18:53In the main bedroom, Jasmine's finding a home for some last-minute deliveries.
18:57We could also go in the living room, but they think they'll be fine.
19:03While John's also adding some finishing touches.
19:08Outside in the garden, an extra pair of helping hands have arrived to sort out the borders.
19:15I love my neighbours. I'm so lucky to have such nice neighbours. Manuel is doing the garden for us,
19:23he's a gardener. And it's looking absolutely fantastic. And he's putting all these beautiful plants in.
19:33Oh, it's a delivery. Let's see what it is.
19:36I've been waiting for a delivery of some garden furniture. And they told me it would arrive,
19:45and it's eight o'clock at night, and it's just arrived, literally the night before the housewarming party.
19:51So, someone is looking down on me.
19:54Oh, just in time for all our visitors tomorrow. We'll have something for them to sit on.
20:13I'm actually so happy with the garden.
20:22It's actually making me emotional, because it's been through my lovely neighbours,
20:39friends who've helped with all the plants and all the actual gardening. And my lovely friends,
20:46who have given me some of these beautiful plates that are like traditional Andalusian pottery.
20:54And they look stunning on the walls. And the plants look stunning. And it's even more special,
21:03because it's all been made possible from friends, new friends that we've made since coming to Spain.
21:21The renovation is now officially over.
21:28Nine months on from when Jasmine and John bought this property in Estepona,
21:34This is it, kids. What do you think?
21:39What's your favourite bit so far, Albs?
21:44Don't you like the natural exposed brick?
21:49The front of the house, there's still things to be done out there.
21:53The gates haven't arrived. We haven't had the time to do the patio.
21:58But compared to when we first viewed it,
22:04It's all painted. We've got a driveway. It's way better.
22:10But as well as triumphs, they've also faced real challenges.
22:14The blood test results suggest I've had a mild heart attack.
22:17With John recovering from this, and a double fracture to his leg, there was one person to whom Jasmine naturally turned.
22:27How traumatising.
22:29To have someone so selfless.
22:33My mum is just a lifesaver.
22:36Thanks for coming.
22:37So, as the day of the housewarming party arrives.
22:42Mama!
22:43Before anyone else sets foot inside.
22:46Thanks so much for coming all this way.
22:48Jasmine is giving her mum a VIP tour.
22:52Are you ready?
22:54Ready.
22:55As ready as I'll ever be.
22:57There used to be a dividing wall between the lounge and kitchen.
23:02What do you reckon, kids?
23:06It smells bad.
23:08It's tiny.
23:10Tiny?
23:11It's not that small, is it?
23:15Ta-da!
23:16What do you think of this?
23:19Wow!
23:27Very nice.
23:30So much more spacious.
23:34That wall is gone.
23:35That wall is gone.
23:36Yeah, this big block in the corner here.
23:39Remember where there was a cupboard and there was a big column behind it.
23:42And it feels so much bigger, doesn't it?
23:43It does.
23:44It does. I think I want to knock my walls down.
23:49The thing that I love about the new layout is you walk through the front door
23:53and you can see all the way through straight away.
23:58The sliding doors are not the only feature that have made a huge difference to the main living space.
24:04How do you like the kitchen?
24:06It's fantastic.
24:09The worktops were fitted and the units plumbed in last week.
24:16So it's the first time Jasmine's been able to show it all off fully finished.
24:21It's beautiful.
24:24I'm really happy with it.
24:29I love the kitchen.
24:30I think the colour is amazing and we've got so much space and so much storage.
24:36More than we need really.
24:38Before the kitchen was kind of completely separate room and it felt quite dark and dingy.
24:46But now it feels much more light and open.
24:48As well as the new layout, the other structural alteration to the ground floor has been the
24:54creation of access from the lounge to the main outside space.
25:00Look down to this floor, Mum.
25:02We've got stairs going down here now.
25:04What do you think?
25:05Yeah, it's very nice.
25:08I've got to say one highlight for me that stands out was the stairs from the balcony.
25:14I knew you'd mince the stairs.
25:17It's just hasn't it just been transformational to how we're able to use the garden.
25:23So for me, I love I love that. That was my idea.
25:28What do you think then, Mama?
25:30Oh, wow, it's just amazing.
25:35Yeah, the pool looks lovely.
25:42Nice and clear and beautifully framed all the lovely greenery.
25:47So do you like the plants, Mum?
25:48The bougainvillea, nice.
25:50Yeah, a couple of bougainvilleas and my neighbour next door has helped so much with the garden.
25:55Yeah.
25:56Beautiful wall.
26:02That wasn't there before.
26:04The whole wall, yeah.
26:05That wall literally has been finished in the last four years.
26:09That was a race against time, wasn't it?
26:11That's nice.
26:11The wall it makes the garden improves it so much more.
26:14It's great.
26:16The fact that we've not been able to use the pool, we've not been able to use the garden
26:20for most of this whole renovation project has made me feel really like we've been missing out,
26:26especially for the kids.
26:27So having that come together now and looking so beautiful makes me very happy.
26:34Whilst the garden and lounge kitchen were only finished yesterday,
26:38the children's bedrooms on the first floor were completed during phase one of the build.
26:50It's so cool.
27:00But Jasmine had a second potentially tough critic to please too.
27:04Can I go in?
27:06Let's go in and I can't wait to see what you think.
27:08What do you think?
27:24It's so cool.
27:26Joy also has the added bonus of her own private terrace.
27:32That terrace, when we first came here to have a look around,
27:38the first thing that hit you was the smell.
27:40Look at this.
27:45Joy's gone there.
27:46There was a dilapidated hot tub that was full of green slime and mosquito lava.
27:53It was hideous.
27:54It made me gag.
27:59Is he actually throwing up?
28:00I don't know.
28:00I mean, it is quite gross.
28:04As her mum loved the garden, Jasmine wants to show her this outside space too.
28:09Have you seen out here before?
28:11Was it like this?
28:12Oh, wow.
28:14No, it's like a resort.
28:16Yeah.
28:27Imagine being an 11-year-old going on teenager.
28:29You can bring your mates out here in the evenings.
28:32Beautiful.
28:33This is one of the easy jobs.
28:35Very nice.
28:36Very nice.
28:37Absolutely gorgeous.
28:38Your little granddaughter.
28:40She's a very lucky girl.
28:43Also on the first floor is the family bathroom, which Jasmine and John tackled at the same time as the bedrooms.
28:50And that's the bathroom with the very damp ceiling.
28:57What are you doing?
28:58You'll see how damp it is.
29:00That went in my mouth.
29:07I think it's like 10 years of...
29:09Neglect.
29:10Neglect.
29:10Neglect.
29:20Great in here now, isn't it?
29:21Finally.
29:23What's your favourite bit?
29:24Those tiles.
29:27And the toothbrush timer.
29:28What's your favourite?
29:29I don't know.
29:31I quite like the massive sink and the wooden unit.
29:34That is beautiful.
29:35I think our compass really when renovating this house has been to stay true to the style of the house
29:46and also to stick with things that we love ourselves.
29:50So it's a bit of a mishmash in places, isn't it?
29:53It's a blend.
29:54Yep.
29:54But I think the blend works.
29:56Yeah, me too.
29:57I'm pleased with the blend.
29:57Right.
30:01This is a real hot spot up here.
30:08It's not bad, is it, out here?
30:10I mean, you could make so much more of it.
30:13Be careful, because it's full of dirty water.
30:15Oh, God.
30:17It's a really nice space, nice table.
30:28I like that table.
30:31Yeah, there's a funny story about that, actually.
30:33Because it used to be a glass top table.
30:37It wouldn't go up the stairs.
30:39It wouldn't come up the side.
30:41So in the end, we made that table top out of wood.
30:45And then all the offcuts made that planter over there.
30:48That's nice.
30:49I like that planter very much.
30:50It's really good.
30:53You have the fairy lights and the festoons.
30:55It's a good spot for sunbathing.
30:57It's a lovely spot for a sundowner.
31:00John will be hiding up here in the winter, won't you, probably?
31:03And this will be my office in the winter.
31:05Put my laptop on that table.
31:07It's really lovely up here.
31:09Well done, both of you.
31:16The house has changed so much since I saw it first.
31:21It just looks amazing, like a different house.
31:26I am so proud of Jasmine and John.
31:29They work so hard.
31:30They deserve to have a nice place.
31:33It almost brings me to tears to think that
31:35Jasmine grew up in a rented home in Hackney.
31:41And now she's got a place in the sun.
31:43Down on the Costa del Sol, the vegan food truck has just parked up and chefs Philip and Berta are preparing the evening's menu.
32:09The party's about to get started and Jasmine and John can finally celebrate.
32:15I'm feeling a bit emotional, very relieved, really, really thrilled with the outcome.
32:25I mean, everything's been a struggle, but everything's come together in the end.
32:29Like last night I was like, wow, this house is amazing and we're very lucky.
32:35It was a huge project.
32:37Yeah, when we first looked around this house, it was a house that had no longer been loved.
32:43And now we've taken a house that's in the perfect location for us and made it perfect for us.
32:47You know, we've given it a heart again.
32:50We've given it a soul again.
32:51Someone who's been instrumental in helping Jasmine and John realise their vision for their new home is interior designer Laura.
33:00Hi.
33:01Hello.
33:02Oh, welcome back.
33:04Nice to be here.
33:05As well as the living room with its now completed gallery wall, she's also had a big hand in the makeover of some other rooms,
33:13such as the main bedroom, so Jasmine's keen to get her opinion.
33:16Bit of a transformation in here.
33:20Yes, absolutely. What a tranquil room.
33:29So calming and peaceful.
33:31I love the textures and the light materials.
33:33Oh, wow.
33:35It was only actually last night that I finished this room.
33:41Every good renovation has a little bit of a rush to the finish line.
33:46In the end, we upcycled the old bed.
33:48Yeah, well, there you go.
33:49No, it looks great.
33:50All the colours really complement each other and pull it all together.
33:53So it looks fabulous.
33:56There was a lot more that I would have liked to have done in there.
33:59But with time and budget constraints, it became less of a priority for us, and I think that's an indicator really of how much we care about other people, our kids, our visitors, everyone else, because we put our own bedroom as the bottom of the priorities.
34:21But I think it's turned out beautifully.
34:25Another one of Laura's designs was for the family entertainment room in the basement.
34:30Are you ready for this?
34:34Oh, wow.
34:35Oh, wow.
34:36Wow, wow, wow.
34:42This is fantastic.
34:45It's come together really nicely, hasn't it?
34:47It has.
34:47What a transformation.
34:48What a transformation.
34:49I mean, I wasn't convinced, you know, as much as John was about putting so much work into this basement, but, well, I think it speaks for itself, doesn't it?
34:59Yeah, it does.
35:00And I bet you this becomes one of the most hard-working rooms of the house.
35:03I'm sure it will.
35:04And this is the area that everyone gets really surprised by.
35:07Yeah.
35:08You show them around the house, they think they've seen it all, and then you come down here and it's like, pow!
35:12Exactly.
35:13There's another space which wasn't one of your designs, but it's a little bit of a surprise through there.
35:19This was the garage.
35:20Now, look.
35:23When the renovation began, this part of the basement was half-built and open to the elements.
35:32Have a look at this.
35:33Yeah, oh, again, what a transformation.
35:44The cat's the one who uses it the most.
35:48I'm going to go in the roar.
35:49I mean, this is my excuse for not using the roar as much because she's always there.
35:54You don't want to kick her off.
35:56I just think it's great.
35:57It's like the basement is the space that keeps on giving, doesn't it?
36:00I know.
36:00There's a bathroom down here as well now.
36:05So that would be used, you know, if you're in the basement or if you're in the garden or if you're in the gym.
36:09Perfect and practical.
36:12Well, I'm so pleased you could make it.
36:14I am so excited.
36:16Thank you for having me back to see the transformation.
36:18It's just delightful to actually get to see the family enjoy the space.
36:26Renovations are stressful and it's just so wonderful to see them all smiling and happy and enjoying it.
36:33Finally.
36:34I think we're very proud of what we've achieved, right?
36:40I mean, I also think we should be proud of some of the circumstances of which we've achieved.
36:47I mean, that's what makes me more proud.
36:49Exactly.
36:50Against all odds, we've still managed to create an amazing home.
36:55I would definitely do it again.
37:00I can't say that I've enjoyed the process of the renovation,
37:05but I definitely feel like it was the right choice for us to buy this house.
37:10It was like destiny.
37:13Fate or otherwise,
37:14none of it could have happened without Dominic, son Quinn and all of the builders.
37:20You just can't get rid of us.
37:21Good boy, come on.
37:24It's nice to do a personal house.
37:27It has its problems because they're living there as well, but you get to know them.
37:31And to go to a party at the end, it's a top-in-out party, innit? It looks lovely.
37:44Yay!
37:48Ah!
37:49Look!
37:50I hate it.
37:54Hola, hola, que tal?
37:56I'm thinking of all this.
37:58Yeah, it's a bit of a transformation, isn't it?
38:00Fantastic. Fantastic.
38:03Another team who played a key role in the renovation are kitchen designer,
38:07Rebecca, and her assistant, Carmen.
38:11No, seriously, I love the way you've got all these different areas.
38:13Yeah, and with a little detail, it's fine.
38:16It's great.
38:17Yeah, it's nice.
38:17The plates are nice.
38:19And you guys have been so helpful.
38:21Thank you so much.
38:22We've really loved it. We've enjoyed it.
38:24It's been a pleasure, actually.
38:26It's absolutely wonderful being here today and seeing everything finished,
38:30and the whole house has come together, the kitchen installed,
38:33and the way they beautifully decorated it.
38:36We don't actually often get to see the kitchen when there are people in the house and enjoying it,
38:41and that's what we're seeing today.
38:44All the guests have now arrived, and the hospitality is flowing.
38:48Jeff, are you drinking Pantilemon?
38:50No, I mean, Tis de Verano.
38:53It's meant to be a bar, and then, like, you can serve the garden.
38:56We've been so lucky to make lovely friends here in Spain and, you know, to be able to celebrate
39:06with them in our own home.
39:08It's a privilege to be able to host a party and show people and go,
39:14this is what you've helped achieve, you know, and without your help, we wouldn't be able to do it.
39:19The vegan food truck is about to start serving.
39:22So before everyone tooks in, Jasmine wants to seize an important opportunity.
39:27Thank you all so much for coming.
39:30We are so grateful to each
39:35and every one of you for helping and supporting us over the last few months.
39:42It has been such a journey for us, for John and I, for Joy and Albie, for our whole family,
39:49taking on a project like this in Spain and looking around now at our beautiful home.
39:54I am lost for words. I'm probably going to cry now, so I'm sorry, I apologise in advance.
39:59I mean, you've cried almost every year.
40:00I've cried at every junction.
40:02The incredible people around us are what's carried us through this.
40:05So Dominic and all you guys, thank you so much for your tireless work.
40:10And mum's here.
40:15You do it, you do it, please. I can't talk.
40:20Right now, don't fail me.
40:23To my mum, my mum, to your mum, to Jaz's mum, thank you for being there through every drama,
40:28every high and every low, always ready with a word of encouragement,
40:31a hug or a calm voice when we needed it most.
40:33And to my family, thank you for their constant support.
40:36Most of all, to our wonderful children, Joy and Albion,
40:43you're the reason we're here, building a future for you both.
40:47We hope you have the best time growing up here and making memories
40:49in every room and corner of this house.
40:52You know, for me, a massive thanks to Jaz.
40:55You know, none of this would have been possible without your continual strength
41:00and driving support.
41:03So thanks to Jaz.
41:05Love you all.
41:06And thank you all so much for coming.
41:08Cheers.
41:09Cheers.
41:10Cheers.
41:11Cheers.
41:12And here's a little, a tiny little surprise for Jaz.
41:14Oh, oh, Gabriela!
41:17Oh, thank you.
41:24Congratulations.
41:28Oh, my gosh.
41:31I remember saying right at the beginning,
41:32you have to trust it will all work out in the end.
41:35And yes, we knew it was going to be a challenge.
41:37But honestly, with everyone's help,
41:42everyone who's been involved has just pulled out all the stops
41:45to make it happen for us.
41:48And I couldn't be more grateful, actually.
42:03I think it feels like some stories to tell the grandkids of
42:07when we crazily bought a house in Spain.
42:09Well, thanks for being on this journey with me.
42:12I mean, it's been a, it's been a ride, hasn't it?
42:15It's been a heck of a ride.
42:17But, yeah, I can't, I can't speak without feeling like I'm going to cry.
42:23I want everything.
42:24You want everything.
42:26And one last surprise.
42:27If everyone wants to come up to the roof terrace on the very top,
42:30you have to come this way using Jaz's new stairs.
42:33Everyone to the roof terrace, the top one.
42:35I really love music.
43:05And I especially love Latin music.
43:07So that was really special.
43:11It was fantastic.
43:17The guitarist was out of this world.
43:19The singer was fantastic.
43:25We kind of set out to create this house or this home
43:29that was perfect for entertaining and being sociable.
43:32And it feels like it's a nice way to end
43:35by being entertaining and being sociable and using the house,
43:38using every bit of the house.
43:41And now the renovation is over.
43:44We'll have a lot more time to spend with our loved ones.
43:48And I'm so much looking forward to it.
43:51I can't wait.
43:52I can't wait.
44:03tonight it's the start of our new lives it's why we came to Spain and renovating a house was never
44:24in our plan but it was kind of a means to an end so now we get to start living the life we want
44:33high five
