Turkish unmanned fighter Bayraktar KIZILELMA conducts joint flight with F-16 and confirms integration of MURAD radar and GÖKDOĞAN missile

Turkey’s first unmanned fighter aircraft, the Bayraktar KIZILELMA, has reached a new milestone in its development program after conducting a joint flight with F-16 fighter jets during a test carried out from Tekirdağ Çorlu.

During the trial, the UAV successfully confirmed the integration of its indigenous MURAD AESA radar and the GÖKDOĞAN air-to-air missile, produced by TÜBİTAK SAGE.

In the test mission, officially titled “Bayraktar KIZILELMA – GÖKDOĞAN Attached Munition Flight and MURAD AESA Radar Performance Test,” the KIZILELMA engaged in a simulated scenario with two F-16s: one flying in close formation as a support element, and the other serving as the designated target aircraft. Departing from the AKINCI Flight Training and Test Center in Tekirdağ Çorlu, the UAV completed a 1-hour-45-minute mission at an average altitude of 15,000 feet.

With the MURAD AESA radar developed by ASELSAN, the KIZILELMA detected and locked onto the target F-16 at a distance of 30 miles, demonstrating advanced tracking and detection capability. It then executed simulated electronic firings of the GÖKDOĞAN air-to-air missile, virtually neutralizing the highly maneuverable target with pinpoint precision.
