The Turkish unmanned fighter Bayraktar KIZILELMA successfully completed its first flight equipped with the domestically developed MURAD 100-A AESA radar, created by ASELSAN.
Selçuk Bayraktar, Chairman of Baykar, announced the milestone, emphasizing the technological progress and the importance of the test for Turkey’s defense aviation. The system had already been integrated into upgraded F-16s and the AKINCI TİHA, and now demonstrates its compatibility with the KIZILELMA — the country’s first jet-powered unmanned combat aircraft.
ASELSAN confirmed the success in an official statement: “Bayraktar KIZILELMA, MURAD 100-A ile çok daha güçlü,” meaning “KIZILELMA is much stronger with the MURAD 100-A.”
The multifunction radar provides simultaneous air-to-air and air-to-ground modes, with features such as long-range search, multi-target tracking, SAR mapping, ISAR maritime detection, and resistance to electronic jamming.
The MURAD 100-A represents a major step toward Turkey’s technological self-sufficiency in advanced combat sensors, placing the nation among those capable of independently developing and integrating next-generation AESA radars on both manned and unmanned aircraft.
