Training combined unmanned aerial reconnaissance, real-time data transmission and the operation of a crewed aircraft in Russia’s Far East.
An exercise held in the Sakhalin region, in Russia’s Far East, tested the joint operation of a ZALA T-16 drone and a helicopter during a simulated mission against a maritime target.
According to information released about the training, Aurora-BAS teams launched the ZALA T-16 while the helicopter involved in the operation headed toward the designated area.
The drone was responsible for the initial phase of the mission. Equipped with an artificial intelligence-based processing system, the T-16 detected and identified a simulated maritime threat and transmitted the information collected, including the target’s location, to the command post through a secure communications channel.
Based on this data, the helicopter crew received the coordinates and carried out the action planned in the exercise against the simulated target.
The ZALA T-16 continued monitoring the operation and providing real-time imagery, allowing the command center to verify the outcome of the mission. This type of monitoring, known in military terminology as objective control, makes it possible to assess whether the planned action achieved the expected result.
