Installed at the team’s headquarters in Paris, the Dynisma DMG-1 makes it possible to test setups, strategies and electronic systems before the cars reach the track. The technology is also being used in the development of the future GEN4 generation.

The Nissan Formula E Team’s main development tool is not necessarily found inside the garage. It is the Dynisma DMG-1, a state-of-the-art simulator used for driver preparation, strategy planning and the evaluation of components for electric racing cars.

00:07The game of the POMLA-E is how good you can prepare in the simulator.
00:13We need to be super well prepared before going to the track.
00:16It's important for us to do a good preparation before each event.
00:20When we put the car on the ground, at least we are in a good window to operate the car
00:26and to be as close to the peak of performance as possible.
00:29It has to feel as close to reality as possible, otherwise there's honestly no point in doing it.
00:36So we need to be within a tenth of a second of reality and the car needs to drive like

00:43There is a lot of work behind and a lot of work in the simulator weeks before the race even
00:48happened.
00:49And this is not done only by the official drivers, it's done by Abbie and Sam as well, by our
00:55sim drivers.
00:57Even the official drivers wouldn't be able to jump on the car and put together a dead performance
01:02without the job that has been done before for weeks by the sim drivers.
01:06My role is to ensure that both Ollie and Norman have everything that they require when they jump in and
01:13do their testing in the simulator.

02:11The simulator is very key for Gen4 because the car is very very complex, let's say technically, active differential front
02:20and rear.
02:21We have to make sure that the car is using well the front power train kit and the rear power
02:25train kit.
02:26So it's a complete different way to engineer the car or it could be a game changer for as I
02:32said racing and also for car development.
