A man who had a “commercial interest in the sexual abuse of young teenage boys” has been jailed for raping two 12-year-olds and numerous other sexual offences including grooming children on Snapchat.
00:00On Thursday, 25-year-old Bartholomew Ymir of Chart Street in Hackney was sentenced to 18 years imprisonment for 47 offences against seven known victims.
00:14A police investigation found he had engaged in extensive online grooming and serious sexual offences against boys aged 12 to 16.
00:25Ymir was described as having a commercial interest in the sexual abuse of young teenagers.
00:33The Metropolitan Police said he would send his victims gifts, money and praise to coerce them into providing sexual imagery, which he would then use to advertise and encourage other boys to do the same.
00:51The now convicted rapist would actively brag about his endeavours and sell the illegal content to other sexual offenders.
01:01He was first arrested on 28 July 2020 after police received information that his phone was distributing indecent images of children.
01:12Ymir was then sentenced in February 2021 at Wood Green Crown Court to eight months in a young offenders institution, suspended for 24 months and made subject to a sexual harm prevention order.
01:26However, by October 2024, police had identified initial victims and officers discovered footage of Ymir raping a 12-year-old boy after another of his devices was seized.
