00:00If you step inside the Liverpool Beatles Museum, it already tells one of the greatest stories in music.
00:07But visitors are now being greeted by another celebration of Liverpool talent.
00:11The new Liverpool Legends Hall of Fame is open to the public for the first time
00:15and it brings decades of local success together in one place.
00:19I mean, to be asked to be like, you know, one of Liverpool's illustrious sons and daughters is like a total honour.
00:25You know, this Legends thing, I mean, total honour really.
00:29It's like, I wish my mum and dad were alive to see it, because I was a troublesome son, you know.
00:35And to be able to say that it all ended up like this is, you know, something to be proud of, isn't it? I don't know.
00:42The museum is the work of Rogue Best, brother of original Beatles drummer Pete.
00:46Rogue's daughter, Leanne, who's an actress herself, says she's so proud of her dad.
00:50I remember when his idea for the museum was sketched out on the back of an envelope in the back kitchen
00:56and now we're here in the building, it's been such a success, such a beautiful addition to Matthew Street
01:01and the history of Liverpool and from to all sort of created and curated this love letter to Liverpool.
01:09It's a really special thing to be a part of and as an author. So proud.
01:13The museum founded in 2018, it says the hall was inspired when owner Rogue Best was considering how to use an unused space inside the building.
01:21He realised that, although Liverpool has a long legacy of producing world-famous talent beyond the Beatles,
01:27that success had never been collectively honoured by the city.
01:31Honestly, I'm so honoured. To feel like I'm part of the tapestry of Liverpool's legends is just...
01:36I mean, if I could tell the 15-year-old Sinatra that she'd end up here, she wouldn't believe it.
01:41And I'm so lucky because Liverpool's known all over the world.
01:44I mean, I go any country in the world and outside of London, everyone knows Liverpool.
01:48So that says something in itself.
01:52I think there's an isolationist kind of philosophy in Liverpool where we don't see ourselves as part of Great Britain.
02:00I mean, I think we see ourselves like Wales or Scotland.
02:05You know, I think we should be an independent state. You know what I mean?
02:09Yeah, there's a difference. There's an otherness about Scousers.
02:13The items range from guitars and instruments to costume scripts, awards, trophies and rare photographs.
02:19And the list of contributors is vast, from Frankie Oost to Hollywood to Phil Redmond.
02:23I'm really proud that it's such an eclectic group of people when you talk about legends from Liverpool.
02:30It's not obvious. We're not, like, all from one street.
02:34Like, in the art scene, we've got poets, we've got musicians, we've got dancers, we've got artists and actors.
02:42And I think they've all brought their own little thing.
02:45And I think that's what's so nice about it. Nobody wants to be run-of-the-mill when they're from Liverpool.
02:49The museum says this exhibition is a celebration of Liverpool's contribution to global culture
02:55and a way of showcasing talent from across generations.
