00:00The Jeep Recon is the first and only trail rated electric vehicle so it is
00:09meant for capability off-road but also offers the open-air freedom that you
00:14come to know and love from Jeep with the only electric vehicle with removable
00:18doors quarter window glass and tailgate glass and it has the sky power one touch
00:26as an available option which is class exclusive. The Recon is a great
00:31complement to the Wrangler as the Recon offers a little bit more luxury as well
00:36as some technology like our level 2 ADAS system. Additionally that offers an
00:42alternate propulsion system being a fully electric vehicle but also offering
00:47the capability to a different extent.
00:51The Jeep Recon is a true Jeep SUV with capability rooted in its DNA so the Jeep
01:00Recon Moab is driven by two 250 kilowatt EDMs electric drive motors it delivers 650
01:06horsepower 620 foot-pounds of torque 230 miles of range in a blistering 0 to 60
01:11time of 3.6 seconds. The doors and rear windows pop off without tools within
01:17minutes giving you that true open-air feeling. The Jeep Recon is equipped with
01:2233 inch off-road tires, a rear locker, off-road front suspension, and select
01:28speed control which regulates speed over a tough terrain. It's also got integrated
01:33off-road cameras, front and rear tow recovery hooks, high-strength steel
01:37underbody skid plates, and it's also got an available rock rail.
01:43What if we made another Jeep vehicle besides the Wrangler that the doors came off?
01:47And so that immediately started to describe kind of the vibe and the shapes that we
01:51were gonna go after. I think you can ask a two-year-old, a three-year-old, you can
01:54ask an adult when they see that boxy square profile they know from a quarter
01:58mile away that that's a Jeep vehicle. So this one right away had to have that
02:02boxy silhouette. This vehicle in particular has 33 inch tires which for the
02:06segment are gigantic so those trapezoidal wheel openings really help those
02:09tires to live at home on this vehicle. We talked about how the shape of the
02:13vehicle leads to capability and this one turns out when you're off-road you want
02:17to be able to see. So we actually lowered the belt line which is opposite of our
02:21usual design direction as low as we could possibly get it before you'd have
02:26glass sticking up when the windows rolled all the way down. So I think kind of a
02:29simple silhouette, room for huge wheels and tires, and tons of visibility is what
02:34we're looking for on this one. The Jeep Recon, like the Wrangler, there's gonna be tons of
02:39colors available and this vehicle just because of the kind of the utility boxy
02:43capable look of it, it can wear any color. What we've done is created a black mask
02:48that goes cross car and inside of that mask of course is our seven slots. This
02:53time features light up seven slots that we haven't done this directly before and
02:57then each of the headlights have this kind of U shape which I think if you know
03:01the Wrangler you know it's two circles and seven slots. This one I find the U
03:05shapes they're not circles but they're kind of a brother to that shape family.
03:10We have a long storied history in developing you know off-road capable
03:14vehicles we really wanted interior to match that so it gets back to being
03:18function first really making sure that everything the customer wanted to do
03:22with this vehicle you can feel you can do it. It's got interior materials that are
03:26durable, easy to clean, almost scratch resistance in that sense, easy to function
03:30areas of storage you know like our two-tiered center console storage even
03:35accessories that we can envision the customers can envision in the doors also
03:39accessory rails on the top of the instrument panel. It was all about
03:42creating a really holistic interior that gave function first but really
03:47packaged it up in a great aesthetic. This is the first time for Jeep that we're
03:52going to have a large 14 and a half inch screen in the center radio area a nice
03:57simple easy to read screen it's got fold which is our full array local dimming so
04:02strong graphics especially with the sky top slider that you have natural light is
04:07going to be coming into this interior and we wanted to make sure there was a
04:10screen bright enough to push past the Sun you're going to see your more your
04:14traditional elements above navigation vehicle controls but below that on the
04:19screen all-time is going to be HVAC controls. Nice easy to touch controls in
04:23terms of heated seats ventilated optional seats heated steering wheel also rest of
04:28the other cabin controls are all right there we decided to go digital with those
04:32controls because we really wanted to maximize the physical controls for Jeep
04:36like our electronic lockers our 8s controls and so you're going to find a nice
04:41balance of some digital controls for things like HVAC and physical controls
04:45like our Jeep off-roading capability. The Jeep recon will start production early
04:51next year with initial launches in the United States and Canada with global
04:55expansion to follow.
