00:00Welcome to the video from the Car Magazine Tuning Blog.
00:03Today it's all about the presentation of the third generation of the Jeep Compass,
00:07which is being launched as a hybrid and a fully electric version.
00:12The new Compass aims to adapt more than ever to the demands of European customers
00:17while simultaneously becoming a bestseller worldwide.
00:22The SUV is built in Turin, Italy, but its roots are clearly American.
00:27The design is reminiscent of icons such as the Willys and the Wrangler.
00:33Classic Jeep elements such as the distinctive seven-slot grille,
00:37trapezoidal wheel arches, and X-shaped taillights inspired by the Willys gas
00:42can clearly emphasize this origin.
00:46Even the wheel center caps feature a silhouette of the Willy, a lovingly staged Easter egg.
00:51Nevertheless, the new Compass is not a radical new development,
00:57but much more a well-thought-out evolution of the previous generation.
01:03The look remains fundamentally familiar,
01:05but has been sharpened with much more striking lines and a more robust appearance.
01:11The headlights have become slimmer,
01:13as has the grille,
01:15and the side beltline and the applications around the wheel arches
01:18also appear noticeably more robust.
01:22The rear end boasts a continuous light strip and illuminated brand logo.
01:27These are elements that have become almost de rigueur
01:29in contemporary automotive design.
01:32The radar of the Compass has been repositioned
01:35for greater safety and protection.
01:37This is intended to reduce damage
01:39when maneuvering in tight parking garages or off-road.
01:42The technical basis is the star-medium platform from Stellantis.
01:48The new Compass measures 4.15 meters in length and,
01:53with its short overhangs and durable materials and paint,
01:56is ideally prepared for off-road adventures.
02:00At the same time,
02:02the drag coefficient has been reduced
02:03to a remarkable value of 0.3
02:06quite remarkable for a vehicle in this class.
02:08The aerodynamics are supported by specially designed rims,
02:15air ducts,
02:15a smooth underbody,
02:17and an active grille element
02:18that closes at higher speeds to optimize airflow.
02:22It opens automatically when needed,
02:25for example,
02:26for engine cooling or when charging the battery.
02:28Jeep offers the new Compass in six different colors,
02:33all inspired by natural landscapes.
02:35Blue for the Pacific,
02:37white for Antarctica,
02:38a brownish-green tone for the Amazon,
02:41gray for Josemite,
02:42and black for the Sicilian Volcano Volcano.
02:46Plenty of room for interpretation.
02:50Inside,
02:51the Compass also offers significantly more space
02:53than its predecessor.
02:54Trunk volume increases by approximately 45 liters to 550 liters.
03:00Rear legroom is increased by 55M.
03:04A total of 33 liters of storage space in the interior
03:07should provide additional organization and storage space.
03:11The first impression,
03:12spacious,
03:13well-designed,
03:14and suitable for everyday use.
03:16Those hoping for additional storage space under the hood
03:19will be disappointed,
03:20however.
03:20A frunk is not provided for the electric variants.
03:25After all,
03:26Jeep relies on a multi-drive concept
03:28with various hybrid solutions.
03:31The standard three-part rear seat,
03:3340-20-40s,
03:35is practical,
03:36offering flexibility in everyday life.
03:39Technologically,
03:40the new Compass presents itself at the cutting edge.
03:43A 10-inch digital driver display
03:45is complemented by an impressive 16-inch touchscreen
03:48in the center console.
03:51Over-the-air updates ensure that the software is always up-to-date.
03:57Level 2 autonomous driving is particularly helpful
04:00on longer journeys or in congested urban areas.
04:04These features are standard on all variants.
04:07A head-up display,
04:10semi-automatic lane change assist,
04:13and matrix LED headlights are also available as options.
04:18Jeep is fully committed to electrification.
04:21Pure gasoline or diesel variants are no longer available.
04:25The entry-level option is a mild hybrid with a 48-volt system
04:29and an output of 145 horsepower.
04:32Above this is a plug-in hybrid with 195 horsepower.
04:36However,
04:37Jeep is clearly focusing on the fully electric variants.
04:41These are offered in three power levels,
04:44203 horsepower and 231 horsepower,
04:48each with front-wheel drive,
04:49and the top model with 375 horsepower and all-wheel drive.
04:53The latter is called Viri and consists of front-wheel drive
05:00and an additional electric motor on the rear axle,
05:03which delivers 49 kilowatts of power
05:05and up to 232 newton-meters of torque.
05:12Combined with a 14-to-1 reduction gear,
05:16a wheel torque of up to 3,100 newton-meters is achieved,
05:19providing considerable traction assistance on difficult terrain.
05:23Jeep has not yet disclosed precise details
05:28on the various battery capacities,
05:31but does mention a maximum charging capacity
05:33of up to 160 kVA DC rapid charging stations.
05:38This should allow the state of charge
05:40to be increased from 20 to 80% within 30 minutes.
05:45AC charging is possible with up to 22 kilowatts.
05:50Jeep estimates the all-electric range
05:52at up to 650 kilometers.
05:55Off-road capability remains a key part
05:57of the compass's credentials.
06:00The third generation offers ground clearance
06:02of up to 200 millimeters,
06:04an approach angle of 20 degrees,
06:06a breakover angle of 15 degrees,
06:09and a departure angle of 26 degrees.
06:13The maximum weighting depth
06:14is an impressive 470 millimeters.
06:17The all-wheel drive version takes this even further,
06:21offering, among other things,
06:22an approach angle of 27 degrees,
06:25a breakover angle of 16 degrees,
06:28a departure angle of 31 degrees,
06:30as well as an even better weighting depth
06:32and additional ground clearance.
06:34Various driving modes for different surfaces
06:38and all-round protection
06:40with 360 degrees cladding are standard.
06:44Hill descent control is also included as standard.
06:47Similar to the smaller Avenger 4e,
06:50Jeep is launching a particularly well-equipped
06:52first edition at market launch.
06:54This is available either as a 145-horsepower mild hybrid
06:59or as a fully electric version
07:01with 213-horsepower front-wheel drive
07:04and a range of up to 500 kilometers.
07:07The equipment includes 20-inch wheels,
07:10matrix LED headlights,
07:12an off-road package
07:13including the select terrain system
07:15and 360 degrees protective cladding,
07:18as well as standard heated seats.
07:21Jeep has not yet released specific pricing.
07:25However, interested parties can place orders
07:28starting May 6, 2025.
07:30The first vehicles are scheduled to be delivered
07:33in the fourth quarter of that year.
