00:00First, let's get started with a story that is groundbreaking in the industry because we've had folks from the American Gaming Association on our show before, and I wonder what the relationship has to be now with FanDuel, DraftKings, and the AGA.
00:14There is a report this morning saying that DraftKings and FanDuel have left the American Gaming Association. Why? Because as of right now, both sports betting companies are headed toward using the prediction market industry in order to further their business, and as of right now, the AGA does not align with their thoughts on these prediction markets being legal in places that sports betting is not legal.
00:42An AGA spokesperson said in a discussion with DraftKings and FanDuel, the American Gaming Association has accepted their request to relinquish their membership effective immediately.
00:53We wish them the best and expect to maintain close ties in our mission to promote and protect legal regulated gambling.
01:01So if you're wondering where the AGA stands on prediction markets, it doesn't take a genius to know they don't seem to be for it, at least in these markets where sports betting is not legal.
01:09This has been the story of the year with these prediction markets expanding, like CalShe, Crypto.com, Robinhood, etc.
01:16All right, now let's get to the latest in the National Football League.
01:19Shadur Sanders made his debut in the NFL on Sunday. While he was doing it, someone broke into his house.
01:25These are burglaries going on all across the country. Seems like they're targeting players that they know that they're playing on the road or, you know, not at home.
01:31And Sanders' house was broken into. Luca's house was broken into. Joe Burrow, Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelsey.
01:39Hopefully they have a, you know, Arlo or Ring where they can get the video of that stuff.
01:44All right, could have skipped Monday Night Football, honestly.
01:46I was actually watching the Heat-Knicks game last night as opposed to this game, which tells you where my head is at as far as these primetime games on Monday Night Football.
01:54I mean, I understand you've got to put the Cowboys on to get ratings, but who was watching this in the fourth quarter?
01:5933-16. And by the way, the game was not even that close.
02:03Dallas' Dak Prescott threw four touchdown passes.
02:07CeeDee Lamb did not play in the first quarter, neither did George Pickens.
02:10Allegedly some stuff happened in Vegas, but we'll let it stay in Vegas.
02:1333-16, the final Raiders season has been long over with.
02:18This has been a brutal year for them. Dallas staying alive.
02:20So, guess what? If the Cowboys win this week, you're probably headed into Thanksgiving with meaning something for the Cowboys.
02:26Annual tradition coming up for all of us here.
02:29Here's Dak Prescott on losing their last game, having the bye week, and rebounding last night.
02:35Yeah, but I mean, obviously a tough, tough, hard 12 days.
02:39And, you know, through the bye week, those first, as I mentioned earlier in the week, those first few days, right, not being with the guys was harder than anything.
02:47But the last six, seven, you know, being together, working together, having conversations, you know, healing, shining a light on who Marshawn was.
02:56Then, obviously, coming out here tonight and playing with the style that he played with, the intensity, the efforts, finish, and super proud of the guys.
03:05World win of a week.
03:06Great one to cap off with a win right here.
03:09They have a really good offense, and they do a nice job with it.
03:13Obviously, you know, Piggins was really, he was really a problem for us.
03:17And it wasn't just when he caught it.
03:19It was his after catch stuff that really was impressive that he was able to run through us like that.
03:25I'm just surprised that we weren't able, because we knew he was a good player.
03:30We went in to defend him.
03:32We rolled to him.
03:33We covered him.
03:34We doubled him a couple times, and he still came through.
03:36So, he had a heck of a night, and, you know, I don't even know Dak's numbers, but he must have had a pretty good night himself.
03:4425-33.
03:45So, he was on it.
03:46So, very difficult night for us.
03:48Sorry about it.
03:49Yeah.
03:50Raiders have not played good football.
03:52Pete Carroll, got to wonder if he'll even be back next year, honestly.
03:55All right.
03:55Well, if your fantasy football draft involved the first overall pick, then you probably took Jamar Chase at the Cincinnati Bengals.
04:01Joe Burrow got hurt early in the year.
04:02It hasn't been a great year for him, but you never would have expected that Chase would miss a game because he spit on another player.
04:09The National Football League right now says that Chase is suspended for one game, saw video, evidence enough to do it.
04:16Chase says he didn't, and he is appealing it.
04:19We'll find out what happens later in the week if he has to actually sit out a game or not.
04:23Here is Zach Taylor, the head coach of the Bengals, standing by his player.
04:27Well, first of all, I've always been impressed with how Jamar has handled himself because he is in a lot of these situations where he's got a target as a top player.
04:37He gets a lot of respect that way.
04:39And so, guys try to do a lot of things to get his attention and get him off his game.
04:44And I've always thought it was unbelievable how he's handled himself in some really high-pressure emotional decisions.
04:50Obviously, what happened is crossing the line.
04:53We can't have that.
04:53And I know he'll own up to that.
04:54But beyond that, I've always sat up here and praised Jamar because he's one of the best leaders we've got, the way he goes about everything.
05:03He plays with a ton of emotion.
05:05He plays with a ton of leadership.
05:06Our guys respond to that.
05:08And I've always appreciated how he's handling himself.
05:11Meanwhile, Abdul Carter of the Giants, their young rookie, denies the report that he slept through a team walkthrough.
05:18He said that he was getting recovery, and he just has half a sack this season.
05:22Hasn't been a great year for their rookie.
05:24Meanwhile, Mike Kafka, he is the interim coach of the Giants, looking forward to getting back Jackson Dart this week.
05:30He said that there's a good chance Dart will clear concussion protocol.
05:34Jackson, you know, going through the whole draft process with him and understanding what kind of player he is.
05:39He's an aggressive player, and that's what we love about him.
05:41But obviously, you know, you want to show him some examples that he can learn from.
05:45I think he's going through that now.
05:47I think he'll continue to grow from those things.
05:50But at the end of the day, you know, he is a competitor, and that's why we love this guy.
05:56And I think he'll continue to learn and grow.
05:59But you don't want to put a player like that in a box.
06:01Obviously, you want to show him the examples that he can improve on.
06:04And I think he'll take that to the bank.
06:08Meanwhile, the San Francisco 49ers will be looking for a new kicker as Eddie Pinheiro has a hamstring strain that he suffered this past week against the Cardinals.
06:17He's going to miss some time.
06:18There are some reports out there stating that the 49ers could bring in Justin Tucker, who, of course, played many years with the Ravens and then was suspended for the first several games of this year.
06:27Apparently, that's not going to happen.
06:29Meanwhile, that big buyout for James Franklin coming from Penn State is no more because he took a new job.
06:35And that basically means he only gets about $10 million in the buyout as opposed to $40 million.
06:39So we made a whole big to-do about nothing.
06:42Franklin looks like he's the next head coach for Virginia Tech.
06:46128 wins over 15 seasons, and apparently the salary is really good.
06:50So, again, in these clauses that they give the coaches, it states that if you take another job, you don't get the whole buyout.
06:55So Franklin won't.
06:57Meanwhile, Victor Wimbayama, one of the greatest players that we've seen this season, put on a jersey in the NBA this season, not going to be playing for a long time this season.
07:06He has a left calf strain and is going to be sidelined for a few weeks.
07:09We'll see how far this goes into the end of the year.
07:12He's been obviously the best player in the league this year and potential MVP.
07:16All right, last night, speaking of MVPs, Nikola Jokic, 36 points, 18 rebounds, and 14 assists.
07:21But the Nuggets lose to the Chicago Bills, 130-127.
07:27Billy Donovan talking about the short turnaround for his team and picking up the win.
07:31Well, I mean, we talked about it after the game last night that we were going to need everybody and that there were some guys that didn't get an opportunity to play.
07:37And I think sometimes, you know, after a tough loss like that, it's double overtime, you're catching a flight and you're coming in to back-to-back.
07:43I think you try to give those guys a heads up, you know, what you're thinking.
07:46And, you know, you never know how the starters, the guys that absorb the amount of minutes they absorbed in Utah, how they'll come out and respond.
07:52You know, I thought they, with the altitude, handle themselves pretty well.
07:55But it's a tough back-to-back when you're having to fly and come in and then you have the altitude you're dealing with and the number of minutes and a double overtime loss.
08:01So I had just made that point to those guys after the game that everybody needed to be ready.
08:06Heat versus Knicks last night.
08:08Miami wins 115-113.
08:10Knicks missed a shot at the end of the game, had a chance to win.
08:13Cavs beat the Bucs 118-106.
08:16Giannis injured, undergoing an MRI with a groin issue.
08:20And also the 76ers outscored the Clippers by 12 in the fourth quarter, 110-108.
08:25In addition, ESPN says Aaron Rodgers fractured left wrist uncertain for this weekend.
08:32Welcome back to Newswire here on Sports Grid.
08:35ESPN is reporting that Aaron Rodgers will miss practice today for the Pittsburgh Steelers.
08:41He has a fracture in his left wrist.
08:43Also, Jalen Warren, who missed some time not on the practice field, but he is expected to play.
08:48No word on Rodgers as we move forward here in the National Football League and any other injury updates we'll get.
08:53We'll give it to you throughout the day.
08:54Big sports betting news today.
08:56The American Gaming Association and FanDuel and DraftKings apparently not on the same page as of right now.
09:04FanDuel, DraftKings leaving the American Gaming Association.
09:08Mutual agreement here.
09:09Both sports betting companies are basing this on the idea that these companies want to join the prediction markets business.
09:16Naturally, they're stating that prediction markets are not sports betting, but they're going to be operating in places where sports betting is illegal.
09:24And therefore, the AGA feels they shouldn't be part of the American Gaming Association.
09:30A spokesperson said that in discussion with FanDuel and DraftKings, the AGA has accepted their request to relinquish their membership effective immediately.
09:39We wish them the best.
09:40We want to maintain close ties in our mission to promote legal and regulated gambling.
09:45But with prediction markets on the way for FanDuel and DraftKings, just like they are for a lot of the other companies across the country you may have heard, are partnering up or at least joining the prediction market business, there is some gray area as to whether or not sports betting and prediction markets are indeed the same.
10:03AGA certainly seems to feel like they are.
10:05All right, now let's get to the latest in the National Basketball Association from last night.
10:11It was a really big win for the Chicago Bulls.
10:13Nikola Jokic did his triple-double thing, as he always does, 36 points, 18 rebounds, 14 assists.
10:19But the Bulls win by three over the Denver Nuggets.
10:21By the way, Chicago led this game by as many as 18 points.
10:25But with the Bulls on a back-to-back, they needed everybody to really come through, says Billy Donovan.
10:30And they did.
10:31Well, I mean, we talked about it after the game last night that, you know, we were going to need everybody and that there were some guys that didn't get an opportunity to play.
10:37And I think sometimes, you know, after a tough loss like that, it's double overtime.
10:40You're catching a flight and you're coming in and it's back-to-back.
10:43I think you try to give those guys a heads up, you know, what you're thinking.
10:46And, you know, you never know how the starters, the guys that absorb the amount of minutes they absorbed in Utah, how they'll come out and respond.
10:52You know, I thought they, with the altitude, handled themselves pretty well.
10:54But it's a tough back-to-back when you're having to fly and come in and then you have the altitude you're dealing with and the number of minutes and a double overtime loss.
11:00So, I had just made that point to those guys after the game that everybody needed to be ready.
11:06It's always going right down to the wire.
11:09So, you know, that had to happen at the Kaseya Center last night.
11:12Miami wins 115-113 in South Florida.
11:16The Knicks had a late opportunity to take the lead and even tie the game.
11:20Carl Anthony Towns missed a game-tying shot.
11:23The Heat had six players score in double digits, including Kalel Ware.
11:27Here's Eric Spolstra on that close victory.
11:29It still comes down to just, you know, competitors find a way to win.
11:36It doesn't have to go perfect.
11:38It never will go perfect.
11:39It never will just be exactly how you want it to go.
11:43And then ultimately you just have to figure out, as a group of competitors, you know, how to put your fingerprints on a game and then come out with big plays, you know, to secure a W.
11:58You know, we made some big plays, you know, going down the stretch.
12:03And, you know, Kalel was very impactful in those last, you know, several minutes.
12:09You know, and that's certainly growth.
12:12NBA loves to feature its big stars during the holidays, especially on Christmas Day.
12:18We've seen none of LeBron James this season.
12:21Victor Wimbayama is going to be out for weeks with an injury.
12:24And now we're awaiting the latest on Giannis Antetokounmpo.
12:27He left the game last night with an injured groin.
12:29He's undergoing an MRI.
12:31Donovan Mitchell had 37 points.
12:33The Cavs beat the Bucs 118-106.
12:36Here's Spider Mitchell on the victory afterward.
12:39We rebounded.
12:40We responded to their offensive boards.
12:42We forced turnovers.
12:43We withstood a few runs, even when it felt like we were up.
12:47So it was one point I was like, man, we must be up 5-6, 10.
12:50It was a one-point game, right?
12:52Like, you know, continuing just to push.
12:54The second half especially, obviously with Giannis being out, they become a lot more unpredictable, right?
12:58You don't know.
12:59Ryan Rollins is talented.
13:01You got Gary Tran, Bobby Portis, Cole Anthony, Turner.
13:03Like, you know what I mean?
13:04You never know where the offense is going to come from.
13:05So being able to adjust, different coverages.
13:08So I'm really happy with the way, you know, we played tonight.
13:12Two teams with surprising starts going different directions in the NBA.
13:17Philly doing okay.
13:18The Clippers not so much.
13:20Philly wins last night, 110-108.
13:23Tyrese Maxey, who's been fantastic for Philadelphia,
13:26had 39 points in the victory yesterday.
13:29The Clippers are now just 4-10 on the season.
13:33What a start for them.
13:34Here's Maxey on the return of Paul George in the victory last night.
13:39Great, great.
13:40He's able to do a lot of different things on the basketball court.
13:43I think his biggest asset to us right now, like today, was his defense.
13:48Like, he's, like, defending and guard multiple positions.
13:50He guarded Collins.
13:51He guarded James.
13:52He guarded, I don't know, so many different people.
13:54And he was able to, like, just get deflections and get some blocks.
13:57So that was big for us.
13:58He shot the ball, made it three, made a couple plays, and he was good.
14:04Speaking of injuries, as we mentioned, Victor Wimbayama has a left calf strain.
14:09It's being reported that he'll be sidelined for a few weeks.
14:13What that means exactly in the NBA, no one really knows for sure,
14:16because that's the way this works in the National Basketball Association.
14:19But Wemby, who's been the favorite to win the MVP in the NBA, probably not so much as of now.
14:27Last night in the National Football League, the Dallas Cowboys picked up an easy victory on their way,
14:33potentially maybe back to the playoffs.
14:35Could it be possible?
14:35Dallas on the outside looking in.
14:37But they went to Las Vegas and destroyed the Raiders 33-16 in this game.
14:44It has been a dismal season for Vegas.
14:47For Dallas, they're kind of hanging around .500.
14:50By the way, in this game, Dak Prescott threw four touchdown passes.
14:53George Pickens, CeeDee Lamb, both with great games.
14:56By the way, both did not play in the first quarter, so sort of a bizarre situation there.
15:00Meanwhile, Jamar Chase has been suspended one game by the National Football League
15:05for spitting on Jalen Ramsey.
15:08Chase said he did not do it.
15:10Ramsey said he did.
15:12The NFL has deemed that video shows that he indeed did do it.
15:16But even still, Chase says, I still didn't do it.
15:19And now he's going to appeal it because he's going to lose a lot of money if he doesn't get to play this week.
15:24Also, Abdul Carter, who was accused of sleeping through a walkthrough, said he was just getting recovery in.
15:32Jackson Dart should play this week for the Giants.
15:34And the 49ers are searching for a new kicker.
15:37There's a possibility that Eddie Pinero may have to go on injured reserve.
