00:00West Indies asked New Zealand to bat first on a two-paced pitch that made life tough, especially against fast bowling.
00:06And Matthew Ford proved that as he was on a hat-trick with New Zealand 24-for-2.
00:11Only Ford and Jaden Seals had the pace required as the West Indies' bowling attack was mainly efficient.
00:16But they were faulty in the field, dropping Daryl Mitchell on 19-and-67.
00:21Ruston Chase was extremely unlucky with two drop catches and a missed thumping of his bowling.
00:25But Mitchell was the difference as he battled through a growing injury and those drop catches to make 119 of 118 balls.
00:39He was their final wicket to fall as the Black Caps closed on 269-for-7 of their 50 overs.
00:47The West Indies would need the same fight and determination Mitchell showed to survive on this surface.
00:52And New Zealand's three quicks in Matt Henry, Kyle Jamieson and Jacob Duffy made life tough under the lights.
00:58With only 70 runs scored in the first 20 overs, the wickets of Alec Anthony and Casey Carty made the challenge even harder.
01:06Shea Hope and Shea Finn Rutherford built a partnership of 51 runs, but it took them 10 overs to do so.
01:12When Hope made way on 37, Ruston Chase followed him four overs later, with the West Indies 169-for-5 in the 40th over.
01:18Needing 98 runs over the final turnovers, Rutherford and Justin Greaves would find freedom.
01:28Rutherford needed to carry his bat after getting to 50, but he was Jamieson's third scout on 55.
01:34However, Greaves and Romario Shepard provided the biggest partnership of 53.
01:38That is a welcome strike.
01:40Cameos of 38 from Greaves and 26 from Sheppard taking the visitors within touching distance.
01:45He's got a hold of it.
01:46Big side into the wind.
01:47Six.
01:48But Duffy kept it tight in the final over, as the West Indies fell short by only seven runs.
