New Zealand showed they can still pull off victories despite playing with a second string team.

The Black Caps laboured to 247/8 off their 50 overs in the first of three ODI in Mirpur against Bangladesh.

But they ripped through the more experienced host with Blair Tickner grabbing four wickets in the 26 run victory

00:00An inexperienced black cap side took first strike as most of the irregulars are playing
00:05in the IPL and PSL. One of the replacements, Nick Kelly, was the first to fall at 21-for-one,
00:11but Henry Nichols and Will Young steadied the innings with a 73-run stand. And when
00:18Young departed on 30, Nichols kept going as he got to 50. New Zealand's inexperience
00:26showed at times, but Dean Foxcroft raised his hand with a battling 59 or 58 balls. And
00:32Nathan Smith also wasn't explosive, but his 21 helped the black caps to a decent score
00:37of 247-for-8. In contrast, Bangladesh had their regulars available, but Nathan Smith struck
00:48on consecutive balls at 21 to keep the visitors in the match. Saif Hassan and Tawheed Hridoy
00:55both struck 50s. The hosts were in position to win even when Lytan Dars, who made 46,
01:02was dismissed at 1-52-for-4. But that's when things went wrong for Bangladesh.
01:08As their last five wickets only contributed 12 runs, Blair Tickner ripped through the lower order,
01:14grabbing four wickets in a devastating spell. Bangladesh were reduced to 221 in 48.3 overs,
01:20dropping the opening ODI by 26 runs to the inexperienced black caps. Terence Clark, TV6 Sport.
