00:29and double, it's interesting, because fame was exciting, and we went around the world, and people loved us everywhere, and Gene was just the star, everywhere he went, they loved him, they would give him, he could get any club free, caviar, champagne, whatever, and coming out of Harlem, and out of his own personal circumstances, he just, he kind of went wild sometimes, and I would have to control him, that was my job, I was his mama, I was his other mama,
00:59and it just broke my heart to lose, I lost so many of my boys to AIDS, and that was a hard, hard thing for me, because we didn't understand it back then, we didn't quite even know what we were dealing with, and I lost several of my best dancers, and some of my colleagues,
01:19But Gene Anthony Ray is always a soft spot in my heart, and I think of him, and we laugh about him now, because he was so electric on set, and so much like his character, you know, undisciplined, but I made him do his job, I would, I helped him find his professional ethic, if you will,
01:45I demanded it, I demanded it of him, and he inspired young people all over the world, and they will always remember him, and that smile, and the power of his dad, I mean, Gene was so strong, we danced together, he'd throw me up in the air, and wow, I didn't even know if I'd come down,
