00:00we're back here we go again
00:10so what's on the to-do list this year well i think we're going to be spending a lot of time in the
00:23keys working on the hotel project yeah i've got to get back home to canada to do some work on the
00:28cottage before that falls down and we did say we were going to do some upgrades here at cmc yeah
00:34there's a lot of maintenance and some updates to do i also have a ton of home shows that i have to
00:38be out this year i know i saw your schedule you're gone almost every weekend and i'll still be back
00:43and forth with design clients and there is the matter of the huge development in the bahamas
00:51so we've got the opportunity to buy another hotel expand through lamar and acquire another
00:57600 acres this is the next decade this is something we leave behind not just for our kids but for
01:03everybody on the island i want this we've partnered on a hotel in the florida keys called pines and palms
01:19you mean we're not going to pack the kids up and move down here and just close it down and go for it
01:24ah it should be easier it's half the size of surreal it's gonna be fun to watch
01:31one storm and this whole unit is going to just fall down did you hear the thunder too i did hear the
01:36thunder that's how i feel about this at some point we're going to get active flooding in it it's going
01:41to be four feet of water in this the steel is disintegrated things you want to hear when you're 40 feet
01:47off the ground oh my god this is not a remodel no see that's not a good sound in a beam it's a here we go
02:00again moment
02:07there's a lot to do there's a lot to do it's exciting i can't tell if that's your exciting face or your
02:13scared face no i'm excited but i'm also hungry
02:21the family cottage for me it's pretty nostalgic isn't this all going like backslash gone hardware
02:33gone so drapery gone at this point we've done a lot of moving backwards we're gonna need a new vision
02:38board it's a bit of a mess and quit this is the last time i'm doing this this is something that
02:48we may not even see it come to fruition in our lifetime does that worry you or excite you a little
02:57bit of both something like this could be the rest of our lives but if you're not scared about something
03:04this could break us historically this is the time you get a little grumpy so look at us now look at us
03:11now i still think we should do it you've always said we've only got one shot
03:17i kept saying it was going to be a quiet year and then i left the editing function
03:42of my calendar open uh and i'm not sure what happened
03:50it's been six years of operating cerule lamar we've stabilized the business and i think now it's
03:56it's time to expand the hotel which means more places for people to stay maybe some residential
04:04which means you know bringing more people means we need more entertainment as well so it's the local
04:09bars and restaurants there's a lot we could grow it a little bit or we could grow it a lot
04:21whose water bottle was this linky grab a towel that's like a clown car come on here jojo if you
04:27want to hop down first just leave your shoes here i can pass you with the water too i'm gonna actually
04:32get down i don't want you to hold my arm i'll just put you over my shoulder i'll bring you ready no she's fine
04:43buying and renovating cerule mar in the bahamas has not just been all about making money all right you
04:50guys good it's been great to watch the local economy flourish other businesses being started bars and
04:56restaurants on the local side and if we move forward you know there's there's more benefits in bringing
05:03kind of everyone along for the ride it's that opportunity to do something more that i'm
05:08always searching for do something amazing nobody's going to show up and do it for you no
05:29what did we find is coming to us with something what is it q octopus or star looks like a spider star
05:35fish oh cool this is stuff i missed we had the big boat anchored out we had the tender we would
05:39just go around and explore places with the kids i know i used to say you were just born to be an
05:43explorer yeah you loved it maybe we should just focus more on exploration relaxing and traveling
05:51that's how we find yeah how are we going to pay for that you know we can look at doing more
05:58of this even for the hotel if this is this is the stuff that other people want to do this is unexplored
06:03this is the stuff the guests love these are the experiences that we have to provide
06:12one of the things that attracted us to andros in the first place was the abundance of nature
06:17here and the blue holes which are fishers in the rocks and the cave system are part of that there's
06:22a walking trail across from the hotel that goes to four or five really interesting blue holes you can
06:28dive in them you can swim in them spend the day exploring the decks and the walkways to the blue
06:33holes are definitely showing their age they're starting to rot and fall apart our plan is to
06:37fix up these walkways and decks and put in a bit of a hoist to get scuba gear up and down so that
06:44everybody can enjoy these holes
06:49walking trails to the blue holes are not conducive or large enough or smooth enough for any type of
06:54machinery so every piece of lumber that goes in we have to haul i mean i'm already sweating and i'm
07:00getting older but still kicking
07:13what you doing little buddy it's great to have the kids here to help you go get some shoes why don't
07:18you grab some more material on the way yeah i'll come back after lunch
07:21lunch no you come back before lunch with some water some ice i'll go grab lunch and then i'll come
07:26back i'll get this all right
07:38i'm so happy we could actually get in and that there were no guests in here today so we could walk
07:43through well some of the stuff we've been discussing via via just chatting back and forth on phone right
07:49we have partnered on a hotel in florida keys called pines and palms it is a boutique hotel
07:58each of the units on the property at pines and palms is unique they were acquired at different
08:04times as the property size grew and each one of them has a very different footprint
08:10mike is a contractor and developer this is actually our first time together to walk through one of the
08:15townhouses unit 26 to see how everything will actually come to be so we're showing this obviously
08:21in the drawings not sure why it's here i feel like maybe because the duct work that runs through here
08:26the ac drop here which it could be dropped down for that but we could maybe do an exploratory hole
08:31okay and get a feel for maybe what's above it for pines and palms i'm involved in the design both
08:38with respect to interiors but also exteriors you're you're kind of managing the construction
08:44team everything it should be easier it's half the size of surreal it's gonna be fun to watch it should
08:48be easier welcome to the 80s
08:58there is a lot of wasted space the tubs around in particular is cumbersome and we have a little bit of
09:05an issue with the sink and the toilet placement i don't know who who thought this was convenient
09:12but i think some of my kids would think it's hilarious
09:22pines and palms is really in need of a refresh it has been family owned and operated for decades
09:28so projects have been done a little bit piecemeal nothing matches nothing is consistent throughout the
09:33property so really the goal here is yes to give it a fresh new take on what it means to be sort of a
09:40beautiful southern island property but also to put some i think amenities and structure in place so that
09:47it does run a little bit more efficiently so we kept these beautiful sort of ocean colors we did a
09:54beautiful blue we did a green we have some coral coming into play as well
10:04you really never want a hotel too trendy because before you know it you're redoing it and that costs
10:11a lot of money we've been working on these plans for quite a while now and it goes beyond just the normal
10:16footprint or furniture plans this is more of an overall redesign of the brand everything down to colors and
10:23logos i think when we present it um i hope they're ready to absorb it all take it all in and then we
10:29need the feedback so we can make sure that we are going to deliver exactly what they want
10:37can we make a deal this when we get this deck rebuilt we just jump that's the deal yeah that's
10:53the deal i can't say that i've ever seen lawrence in the water certainly not jumping off of the deck
11:01into the blue hole i try as long as we ain't doing it naked no no no no no we're fully clothed we have
11:08to try it out for the guests yeah for the sake of the guests and so then all right deal lawrence
11:17worked for us at the hotel for a while and whenever i'm back down you know i'll hire him to help with
11:22with different jobs so he's uh he's he's quite a character boy i tell you things i do for my country
11:33this is good sweating it out with the oldies here
11:40there we go that was a good little run
11:41first of all i want you to know i believe in you you do yeah i believe in you you got faith okay
11:51you should you should let me see let me see so you don't describe it right yeah you have to cut
11:56around here measure this first one of the best things about quentin is that obviously i trust him
12:04i have trained him i have given him everything that you know i i think is in my head so i think you
12:11learned this from watching us right me and your dad right no no definitely not youtube i learned some
12:16bad habits the stairs from the deck at the eldorado blue hole are partially gone so getting in and out
12:25is a challenge for for most people but getting out with scuba gear on your back is impossible we have
12:32to replace these things they're dangerous uh they're just yeah they're done we got to pull these bolts out
12:38we got to get these stringers up but i need to keep this in one piece because we got to use it as
12:43a template right getting the stairs out of the blue hole is a is a a bit of a feat here we have to
12:50disassemble the stairs we've got the rope around the stringers and you know i've loosened the bolt
12:56so that we can pull the stringers out of the hole why don't we pop the boards off i can just stand on
13:02the edge of the stringer otherwise it's gonna be a million pounds we try that let me get down there
13:08on the rock you got a team of experts up here watching whoa whoa welcome get on the rock what's
13:16happening on the rock oh did that come out yeah get on the rock stringer is gone yeah q this is not
13:23attached at all so stay off of there you want to just come step on the rock so we can knock these last
13:28two off because this isn't nothing's holding us anymore q
13:52q's gone for a bit of a swim which is actually a great example of why we need the stairs
13:58there you go
14:05there are four partners on this project nick katie chad and rainy what's going to be really important
14:14in my opinion is when some of the bigger things are happening bigger deliveries on site through
14:20the demolition and then we look at where we're positioning guests on property during that time
14:25speaking with the partners it takes me back in time to when we are first starting cerule lamar
14:31the difference i think perhaps for us was when we acquired cerule lamar it was closed it had been
14:37uninhabited for almost a decade pines and palms they purchased an existing property that was already open
14:44and operational so they had to jump right in and it was sort of trial by fire i think that we've been
14:50really thoughtful on um how we face the project we're working in one area the resort is completely open uh in the entire
14:57like separate areas and it will really will not impact the guests hopefully i think he's
15:04unrealistic here i think the importance of a guest experience needs to be
15:11looked at on all accounts and also the ability for the construction team to do their work
15:17efficiently it's going to impact the guests at some point there are quite a few people involved in this
15:23project obviously there are six of us as partners but then we also have the general contractor the
15:28landscape architect the architect all of the trades and sub trades so i just want to make sure that
15:35we are having open and honest discussions from day one about our goals for this project and setting very
15:41realistic timelines when it comes to the stringers i'm going to cut those we're going to figure out
15:53how to get them down into place secure them we're going to figure out how to get all the steps on
15:57down to the water i can do that you're going to do it super dave could handle that part i'll do that
16:02it's going to be challenging because there's nowhere to stand just let me do it oh just let you do it you
16:06don't mean you don't want daddy hold you anymore no because you'll push me these are long
16:10heavy and you need a lot of leverage yeah this is this is fun all right it's not gonna fall you
16:19okay buddy yes lincoln and quentin helping me on site build things is a lot of fun as a dad
16:25it's just great to spend time with your sons and kind of watch them grow
16:34you know the dream is eventually i'll just be sitting in a chair watching this work happen
16:39dude you had one job we still have to build some benches and railings and a lift for scuba gear but
16:46we're making good progress
16:52sarah's over in florida pines and palms working away in the keys
16:55uh so it's it's a little different normally we're in the same place kind of working
17:00on one thing but you know here we're a little divided so i don't know there's nobody nobody to
17:07tell me what to do
17:16it sounds like things are moving at pines and palms i have to fly over there isla mirada is about 208
17:22nautical miles across the gulf stream so it's that way
17:26my role at pines and palms i think is to support the uh design and procurement department right
17:41but if i do need you to put on your tool belt traveling a lot uh i'll keep a few tools in my truck
17:48will you answer my call if i if i'm able coming in here off the old highway this is your first
17:56impression when you get on the property it's so linear too straight to the ocean gotta break that
18:01up so we have the fisherman's pad here on the lower level and then we have obviously the larger unit
18:07up top which is great because it's three full bedrooms kitchen living space like that's just
18:12valuable real estate for any guest a lot of water damage on the siding things here to deal with too
18:16yep and just structurally i mean roof looks great but you can see that deck's not flat there so i
18:21think we just have to elevate that clean it up a little bit from the landscaping perspective it'll
18:29be how people travel throughout property whether it be they're parking their cars or pathways so that we
18:36have these little moments interspersed that they can join together get to know one another
18:40what i would like to do is sort of take that first half of the property back by the ocean and
18:47really create walking paths extra family spaces fire pit areas just these communal areas so you feel
18:53like you have escaped to a resort instead of feeling like you're vacationing in a parking lot we need to
19:00be strategic about how we renovate this entire block taking it offline for the shortest amount of time you
19:06mean we're not going to pack the kids up and move down here and just close it down and go for it this
19:11is going to be harder this is not you know desolate like ours was for a decade there's guests enjoying
19:16the pool today how many independent units are there so we have 26 that's including the townhouses we have
19:24the little cottages we have this row we've got pool we've got beach deck we've got the reception
19:30yes okay that's a lot of balls in the air
19:40i'm still fairly certain at some point i'm going to end up on the tools on my knees in the sun sweaty
19:49but that's okay if you didn't enjoy it you wouldn't get involved in these projects you secretly
19:54love it i think there's a word for that too right and it can be it can be treated
20:00so
20:09here at pines and palms there are two other partner couples at the table the four of you said originally
20:15to brian and i that four people can't make every decision which we agreed so a lot of these so we're
20:21throwing two more people in the group it's just for efficiency it'll be even easier right exponentially
20:29exponentially i have the easy side i just present things that i think will work and then they can
20:35fight it out who in their right mind buys a resort like this with zero experience in hospitality you know
20:43well there's six of us in the world that do right we're trying to straddle not being a five-star hotel
20:48but we don't want to remain exactly as we are now and some people you know are upset that we're
20:52changing things at all yeah all the loyal customers it's the first thing they say well don't you know
20:56don't change the keezy feel to this but then complain about the size of the toilet right right
21:00we've been working on details for this project for quite a while now having different meetings working
21:06with a contractor but now as we're approaching sort of the start date i think it's important that we
21:11all come together and we just make sure we're on the same page what we're trying to do is how does it
21:15work for your guests so they still feel comfortable it's still the same building they've always come
21:19into right the reception area is still where it is the bathroom's still the same all we're doing is
21:24adding them another reason to come back and oh they've added this cool grab and go but it's a full
21:28upgrade right we're looking at the kitchens all new appliances all of the bathrooms that are outdated or
21:34perhaps a little bit squishy in size we need to look at how to standardize that toilet space shower
21:41space vanities as well yeah but we're also trying to work with inside the same box right we're not
21:46blowing out walls and we don't have more space for more footprint i think the other partners would
21:52love to just put lipstick some new furniture and and get going this whole process we will have to make
22:00changes as we go there are going to be some things that come up right brian there's always things
22:06that come up no it's a good collaboration we should be under budget and on time there you go there's no
22:12way ahead of schedule under budget and the customer's always happy that's yep that's the goal right nick is
22:18clearly wearing his rose colored glasses as he should the keys for brian and myself and i think all four
22:31of our children is almost like a home away from home as well i love key lime it's an actual piece of key
22:37lime pie that's been dipped in chocolate when you come to the florida keys you are prohibited from leaving
22:44until you have a piece of key lime pie so what's the plan for the rest of today i feel like we
22:49should do something active now there's a lot to do though well then you better eat both my piece
22:55and your piece you already need it i'm gonna need some energy we have a knack for ruining vacation
23:00destinations by piling on you know a lot of work and stress for ourselves in that location was that was that
23:07fair today we're hopping into one of the ocean view cabins we're ready to start demo there we're
23:19really gutting it from wall to wall the entire kitchen needs to come out bathroom the wall for
23:24the bedrooms we're giving this a full revamp what do we want to salvage the ceiling the footprint
23:30we're going to keep the footprint i thought you didn't want a tool
23:36listen i can't i can't work with it and a hammer
23:40for the record he'd like just give me a hammer
23:45what makes you two work together so well why do you make such editing
23:51right editing yeah that's that's we've worked so well together over the years due to editing
23:58it's like back to uh back to what back to my bachelor pad remember when you came in and
24:04made me ruin my bachelor pad started on your bachelor pad you know what we could start a summer camp
24:11for couples and you just devil places because it gets all your eggs sometimes it takes a raging fire
24:18uh to prepare the soil for the beautiful flowers to sprout what are you doing thank you
24:30these cabinets have seen a better day
24:33just a little mouse turd in there demo is kind of fun yeah it's a lot of fun there's a lot of different
24:41parts of any project that i really enjoy but you know getting started and doing that initial
24:46piece of demolition i think it's like the bottle of champagne on the bow you know it's like let's go
24:51sailing
24:56this is gonna be a fun day
25:00i'll just take it out in two pieces to 28. i get dirty and do what i'm told
25:12and you get a little dirty too
25:21and we do have electrical coming in for this light which maybe we got it yeah oh no
25:28yeah lights on that's lights on so that's alive okay okie dokie um oh hang on
25:36well it's not on that gfi let's play mystery circuits we can't find an electrical panel there's
25:46just power coming in these are the little surprises electricians can be busy
26:00we're playing frogger here we are we're playing playing frog we're doing demolition in one villa
26:04electrical plumbing rough-ins framing are happening the townhouses and we're we're gonna kind of
26:10hopscotch our way through the resort to disrupt the guests as little as possible we're trying we're
26:19pretty disruptive i'm pretty cool and collected but these are really early days in a project
26:30and in the back of my mind i know that these bungalows are 50 plus years and i think we just
26:36haven't uncovered everything that we're about to i'm scared you first why are you scared oh that smell
26:45of yeah ed said this wall was completely full of termite poop and cockroaches like it was in your
26:51favorite best dead and then wherever you go they follow okay pull those planes i see a couple of
26:58issues here that could be potentially very expensive look at this a crack into a huge cracked piece of
27:05cast iron so that needs to be replaced here's my concern if all the in floor or under floor plumbing
27:12is cast iron we need to get these scoped and looked at they could be completely collapsed just like they
27:16were at cmc i know and it could just be draining into the sand into the sand yeah i think we're
27:23gonna have to scope all of the villas to make sure if they're all cast iron we have to make sure we
27:28don't have to replace all the in ground plumbing
27:30i think we're gonna have to scope all of the villas to make sure if they're all
27:46cast iron we have to make sure we don't have to replace baldy and ground plumbing
27:49which is going to be significantly more expensive which they don't want like we won't have an option
27:58if that's all collapsed we won't have an option we don't have an option you can't just poop into the
28:02sand today it feels like we're reliving some moments from siru lamar when you talk about
28:10plumbing it maybe is a bit of a sore spot between the two of us dissolved pipes underneath the slab
28:20a little more difficult to deal with so i'm happy that we're just running into above grade plumbing
28:26issues here so far so far that was the word yeah so far this could be a real mess is there any other
28:35place to be for you and i but in in deep no since the day i met you that's where i've resided remember
28:41the promise i made when quentin was born i have to work 24 hours a day seven days a week i will
28:46and so far you've held me to it this here if that beam is poured right to the outside correct we could
28:57cut this back to here and core fill all this blocks if if that beam extends beyond here at least three
29:03inches then we can leave it as a post in the wall get rid of this just up to that height though i always
29:10love the good news give me the worst case scenario i have i need to figure out a plan for this
29:15worst case scenario is every single villa the in-floor plumbing is rotten and we have to replace it
29:21and we can't move this and we can only afford to do half of the villas we're only one week into this
29:27project about and we're already finding some major issues and if this continues we have a limited
29:34budget to work with here with the partners so that means we're going to have to scale back on the
29:37finishes we're back home in canada we're here a lot more than people realize our head office is still
29:47there we have a home there our family is there uh you know that that's our that's our primary spot it's
29:52nice when we go home it just feels like it's our time we do have media commitments and other
29:59corporate commitments that we have to travel to from time to time and it doesn't matter if
30:03the current project is on fire it's always nice to get home and joining us now to share more is brian
30:10and sarah bombler it's extremely busy and i think just keeping our eye on the prize and keeping connected
30:15and communicating welcome home oh nailed it on the fourth one that's the one thank god we're not
30:21recording with some cameras or no we're all in this together nobody knows what they're doing
30:29you know narrowing our focus to something much bigger that will keep us much busier
30:44i think now that we have the kids back on the island they're helping us do a little bit of work
30:47they're a lot more useful now as they've aged they've got a little experience we would love to
30:53get them interested more in this and and help us to really grow and expand things here on the island
31:00although we don't feel like we've aged when we look at our kids they're now adults some of them yeah
31:06they're getting big you know those days of them being five years old riding their bike around the
31:10property those days are gone it's just a different time in their lives and in ours just look at the
31:16state of that bedroom it's two teenage boys you're not in college yet you can't behave like that now
31:23i'm surrounded by five people that know everything and boys there's dirty
31:30there's your crabbing your crabbing clothes stink they have to live out
31:37so do you remember when we lived in the boat yeah with no ac because we had no ac
31:43we focused more on the job at hand and less on the creature comforts for ourselves
31:49it was a transformative time for our entire family we moved out and now we want to move back
31:55yeah we're like teenagers when they go off to school
32:01we should just yeah maybe we should just go
32:06oh you just sat on a rod
32:11okay have fun
32:12the last time all six of us were together in one villa the kids were a lot smaller
32:21had a growth spurt that's for sure yeah they just occupy more space physically mentally sonically
32:30you know it's a lot we love them though
32:33i don't think we ever were finished in bahamas i think we just took a moment and pressed pause
32:46i think at the time we thought we were done we packed up we left the island uh but i think there's more
32:56bahamas in our future
33:00this was a good wake-up call this is the first time the six of us has all been here together and
33:04yeah they're getting bigger and louder so maybe this becomes our villa serves two purposes it gives us
33:13our own space but i think if we're looking at some point to fractional ownership or villa sales or
33:19development i think this could be a great show home so to speak one of the ideas that we've been
33:26exploring for cerule lamar is to actually sell villas or do fractional ownership on the property
33:33that will create more stable occupants that are there more often which allows us to add amenities
33:39so it's a it's a cycle brian has a concept for a show villa it's like our signature villas that we
33:47have here on the property and the way it is finished which we think is is beautifully feels
33:52still relaxed and part of island lifestyle yeah i think in the next month or two we'd like to get
33:57this started we started villa 9 assuming we were going to finish it and it would be an operational villa
34:21um and then we sort of put the brakes on it and we flipped into adding the pickleball cord and doing
34:27some other things unfortunately it also became a storage villa really it holds everything which
34:35isn't a good look for it it's not much cooler in here joe sorry all right well it's gonna be hot but
34:41let's make this quick and painless so what are we taking out everything realistically everything has to
34:48come out but when we take it out i just want to sort it to be in three piles donation storage back in
34:55the villa okay char do you want to help me with this big guy do you think we can do this one i'm the pa now
35:02so what so what does that mean i'm the pa now i was my boss see what you guys are doing to us
35:09i still birthed you so i trump everybody all right charlotte is dipping her toe on the other side of
35:19the camera she's part of our production team today so even though i'm trying to ask her some questions
35:25apparently she is not my responsibility today that one of our producers is in charge of her
35:31what's your plan for this villa is it just staying storage no it became storage we partly finished it
35:46so the hardwoods obviously all down baseboards up already in the bathroom the vanity's been done and
35:54all the countertops have been done that's done it is but we still have to do all the tile at the bottom so
36:00we need to do tile for the front entryway tile the shower and obviously the rest of the bathroom
36:06drywall but the heavy duty work is done everything so the wood's down and that's the demo is done
36:16so that's good but this actually this is a vanity that is for cool okay that's that's your guys's job
36:22good
36:27jojo and charlotte well they're here to help work for these few days although we get to relax
36:32and swim in the beautiful ocean everyone has to do a little sweat equity
36:36so the pond in front of the villa has really flourished and the problem now is that you cannot
36:52see you know more than 20 feet the other bigger issue is that in the springtime when we get a lot
36:58of rain we get flooding across the back of the hotel and if this pond is open and operative it can
37:04accept more of that water i'm happy to just sit in the machine all day i can't hear anyone there's
37:09nobody yelling at me it's great
37:23you want to go for a swim maybe at the blue hole hang on can i try you want to try i do now here's
37:40what i want to do because we have no view from this villa you want to try and get some out sure fire it up
37:46all right just leave it on low rpm for now okay try and grab some of the reeds and bring them up let
37:53most of the water grain out then you can turn around dump them right there we'll put them in
37:56the bin and go to the dump later okay link has a history with machinery he's always been drawn to
38:04machines he would sit on my lap under the bar strapped in and fall asleep while i was backfilling
38:09and he's he's just he's very mechanically inclined link if you push your thumb to the right yeah and
38:18your right hand to the right it'll curl the bucket out and bring the thumb down as well so you don't drop
38:24it other way other right what i put it to the right sorry left and right left with your thumb
38:32there stop it's all right it's the best way to learn i'll get a bigger scoop yeah
38:42i do want to get this done today though
38:46that's bigger scoop than you were doing oh yeah it's huge drop it over there swing right or left
38:51yeah i would i would probably go right considering your father's here it's definitely a proud dad moment
39:00just sitting there and watching you know my my youngest boy uh kind of taking over so yeah i'm
39:06happy for him open her up open her up jackpot that's my boy that's my boy
39:22expanding can be looked at in many different capacities not only on our own footprint of the
39:28property with expanding at cerula mar offering some new amenities for our guests expanding our villa count
39:35but also the island as a whole what does further responsible expansion look like what different ways
39:43are we partnering with locals to make sure new businesses are there for our guests to enjoy
39:48with cerula mar and with south andros we either leave it as it is and be happy that we have
40:01you know a small little piece of paradise that we love or we really just take a massive risk and try
40:07and do something bigger and grow and provide unique opportunities for that community and other jobs and
40:13show our children what it is as a legacy project to really grow and develop something
40:30this is what we're dealing with it's kind of what we're looking at i mean there's lots of room here for
40:35a brand new island community yeah a resort centered community we could have little stores where anyone
40:45on the island can be residential or more hotel rooms could be a farm i know it could be all of
40:52that but i think when you look at the topography areas that maybe are a little farther away from the
40:57ocean yeah it makes the most sense to do some of the commercial or make sense for some of the back of
41:03the house we also need restaurants we need little markets we need little stores and coffee shops like
41:10this is a community not just another hotel yeah well and eventually as it grows into residential lots
41:16i mean will people that are working here will want to build a home so we're going to have to look at
41:22residential commercial this is a little more than our normal oh this is an ugly looking house let's
41:28renovate it this is a little bit bigger than anything we've ever done before
41:40when you're trying to envision something that doesn't exist and maybe doesn't exist anywhere yet
41:46in the world just the sky is the limit it's pretty raw that to me is what i love like this is completely
41:54untouched untouched when we were living in bahamas as stressful as it was with the cerula mar project
42:03and with the pandemic and with living there it was one singular project that we were both
42:09invested in and our children were right there with us it almost was simpler
42:14this needs a lot of work you can't look at the little we have to look at the big picture
42:24there is so much to do
42:28yeah it's almost unfathomable i'm looking at all of the things that we have all the different
42:35businesses what we're trying to do and how we can sort of take all of these and make them be working
42:41together going in the same direction like cerula mar it was a project that felt a little bit out of
42:49our scope but it was attainable this is something that we may not even see it come to fruition in our
42:56lifetime this might be something the kids are finishing does that worry you or excite you a little bit of both
43:06something like this could be the rest of our lives but if you're not scared about something this could break us
43:18i still think we should do it you've always said we've only got one shot
43:22we can't leave this like this like one storm and this whole unit is going to just fall down i'm going
43:34to need something a little stronger than this this is a make it or break it decision i can't tell you
43:40anything until the engineer gets here he's not going to like what do you see that's like actively wet you
43:45can smell and see the mold we may have to scale back and not do all the units right this land parcel
43:51that we're going to acquire would be by far the biggest thing we've ever tackled budget needs to be
43:57a big conversation
44:01there's no pool there's no bar why are people coming hear the thunder too i did hear the thunder
44:08there that's how i feel about this
