But not so fast says, TTUTA Tobago officer Bradon Roberts, who is tonight accusing Education Secretary Zorisha Hackett of speaking untruths about the leave classification issue.
In fact, Mr. Roberts is calling on Secretary Hackett to stop the photo-ops and get down to the business of Tobago's teachers.
Elizabeth Williams has been following this latest development and has a document from the Ministry of Education to reveal.
00:00So the secretary is showing care for those persons who will be retiring and will not be in the correct retirement benefits because of the classification.
00:08Needs to be aware that these documents are not in process because we are still waiting on the authorization letter.
00:15And I'm very concerned with the behavior of the secretary, very slightly addressing many issues.
00:21I'm not following any one of those issues to completion.
00:25The classification issue, we have been at this point too long for the secretary to be seeing later live where she is demonstrating that she does not know what is happening on the ground.
00:38Mr. Roberts is calling on education secretary Zareisha Hackett to stop the photo ops and get to work.
00:45So I am asking of the teachers and the arrangement of their secretaries and so on that the secretary pays attention to Tobago education matters to completion.
00:57So I'm not aware of any leave being classified in Tobago because we are waiting on a letter from the minister.
01:04So all the photo ops with the ministry and the secretary and ministers and so on is not materializing to progress.
01:13TV six news reached out to secretary Hackett who provided a memorandum dated August 20th, 2025 stating quote,
01:22the grant for the transfer of classification of leave function for teachers in the teaching service in Tobago from the ministry of education to the Tobago house of assembly to be executed by the chief administrator end quote.
