00:00Health and safety concerns are paramount for us.
00:05Any breaches to that, we're going to guide our teachers accordingly.
00:08So they are refusal to work procedures.
00:10Mr. Roberts said a number of schools have a shortage of furniture, termites, and other
00:16health and safety concerns, and visits would be made on Monday.
00:22The termite infestation has been frequenting in the majority of our primary schools.
00:28I know a lot of mention, Bell Gardens, we have, I think, Mount St. George that has had
00:35the issue with termites as well.
00:37We have St. Andrews with termites.
00:40Majority of the primary schools have the termite issues.
00:43It's not that it's only one area of the island, but majority of the primary schools have the
00:49issues with termites.
00:50It's something that the health division should be able to treat with periodically.
00:55Mr. Roberts said a list of issues affecting schools was previously submitted to the Division
01:01of Education.
01:02So the list that was submitted was, it would have been submitted in categories.
01:06So we had plumbing issues, lighting issues, roofing and ceiling issues, termites, rock
01:13infestation issues, or woodland infestation, sorry, issues, furniture shortage, those main
01:22areas.
01:23We have other additional states in that some schools have specific concerns that I would
01:28have raised.
01:29One of the main issues also sent in is a list of schools, which are the majority, that needed
01:35to be deep cleaned.
01:36Elizabeth Williams, TV6 News.
