00:10Yeah, you know, Brandon, I am, you know, this is the way that Aaron's operating right now.
00:15He's trying to set a tone. I get it. I've covered it. I've known him for a long time.
00:18I've covered his entire career as a player when I was a Jets beat writer for the Post.
00:23We get along very well. I'm not insulted by the way he operated there.
00:27I just don't really get it. I don't really I feel like it's just kind of silly.
00:31You know, particularly when you look at the way that Justin Fields performed, you know,
00:37not only performed on the field in the Jets win in Cincinnati, their only win of the year, by the way.
00:42You know, he you know, how are you not going to play him?
00:45I mean, it's it just doesn't make any sense.
00:47Not to mention the fact that Tyrod Taylor is still, according to Aaron,
00:52it's from the sounds of our Zoom yesterday when we asked about Tyrod.
00:55He'll say he he said he'll be practicing, you know, to some degree this week,
00:58which tells us that his knee is still not right.
01:01So if anybody thinks Cleveland does not know that that Justin Fields is starting,
01:07then they're not paying a lot of attention.
01:08So, I mean, it's become kind of a weird, funny banter issue,
01:13particularly like Rich and I, Rich Cimini, you know, or my colleague from from ESPN.
01:17You know, we both have covered, you know, Aaron since he was a player.
01:19And, you know, I don't really know why he does it this way.
01:23You know, I don't really understand the competitive advantage or disadvantage.
01:27They're both similar.
01:27They both, you know, can can run out of the pocket a little bit.
01:30The game chain game plan does not change, you know, with with either guy and, you know, in the lineup.
01:36So I don't really know why Aaron's doing to me.
01:38I mean, honestly, they're one in seven.
01:40You know, it seems kind of pointless, you know, to do that.
01:45But that's just the way he wants to operate.
01:47He's been very, very sensitive about the quarterback thing.
01:50And you and I were just talking off the air a little bit, Brandon, you know, all summer long, you know, it's been like, well, hey, well, why isn't there a competition?
01:57You know, you know, basically he was, you know, feels was anointed the starting role.
02:01And Aaron has been very, very conscious about trying to avoid any element of a quarterback controversy.
02:08But the weird thing to me is, like, by not naming Justin the starter, it's almost kind of, you know, stirring that up a little bit, even though we know that Tyrod's not going to be playing.
02:18When you read some of the comments under the post, there are some fans like that are asking, like, why does he need to name a QB one right now?
02:26They're thinking, like, what's the media's fascination with who the starter is, especially in a non-competitive year?
02:33What would you say to that?
02:34Well, what I would say to that is, it's a natural question to ask because of the fact he played so well against Cincinnati.
02:40And we went into that week with Justin and Tyrod, supposedly, according to Glenn, competing for that starting role in Cincinnati.
02:49And the quarterback is the most important position on, you know, on the field, as we well know.
02:54I mean, look at the Giants and what's, you know, the attention to, you know, to Jackson Dart.
02:58I mean, you know, why does anybody want to know anything about him?
03:02It's the most important position on the field.
03:04And quite frankly, you know, truth be told, on a 1-7 team, there's not a hell of a lot more to talk about than what's going on with the quarterback situation, right?
03:13I mean, are we going to talk about a right guard competition or, you know, who's going to be the starting, you know, long snapper?
03:18I mean, there's not much going on in a 1-7 team right now.
03:21You know, this is a team that's just trying to figure it out, get another win, try to build on the program that Aaron is trying to build.
03:29But, yeah, in answer to the readers, you know, responses and questions to that, that's as frank as I can be.
03:36I mean, what else are we talking about with the Jets right now?
03:38You know, I mean, other than the trade deadline that's coming up, which, you know, I don't see much going on there.
03:44Or I don't think there should be a lot going on there.
03:46But so, yeah, that's my answer to the reason why we're asking about the quarterback.
03:52We always ask about the quarterback.
03:54That's, you know, it's the focal point of every NFL team.
