00:00The thing that lives in a remote place alone is that if something happens, no one knows.
00:11Okay, that's pretty heavy.
00:17It's really important that we get food off the land because you never know when your next meal is.
00:25Without trapping I wouldn't be able to live here.
00:29Hopefully I catch something.
00:33Working alone can be very scary sometimes.
00:36This corner is very heavy.
00:39The cabin can just go down, boom!
00:42What I viewed as hard before moving here is totally different.
00:48Hang on, yeah.
00:50Yeah, we're good too.
00:52It can be challenging to be a woman out here.
00:56That's gonna be heavy.
00:58You have to prove yourself a little more.
01:02Living off the land is not for everybody.
01:05The smoke is working so hard.
01:07This is as real as it gets.
01:10I've been coming up to these woods since I was nine years old.
01:19Up until now it's just been hunting, fishing trips, you know, in and out.
01:24Now living here, a whole different thing.
01:25I'm really looking forward to transferring it from a hunting cabin to my full time home.
01:33This needs to hold up a boat.
01:34And the next big thing now is to go out and clear all this land off to do the addition that we're gonna build on the cabin.
01:42My buddy Don's come over with his little machine.
01:44Great God of knowing all these parts.
01:45Got to the little excavator and knows how to use it.
01:46And the next big thing now is to go out and clear all this land off to do the addition that we're gonna build on the cabin.
01:57My buddy Don's come over with his little machine.
02:09Great God of knowing all these parts.
02:10Got to the little excavator and knows how to use it.
02:15Morning, Don.
02:16Morning there, buddy.
02:17How is you, Matt?
02:18Good boy.
02:19For someone like me that loves being in the woods, he's like, you know, having a professor.
02:25We're racing against winter at this point.
02:30Once the ground freezes up, it's gonna be way harder to do all this excavating.
02:35So we need to get it done.
02:37Yeah, okay.
02:38Newfoundland is infamous for really rough ground.
02:40There's rock, there's roots, there's holes.
02:43There you go, look.
02:45Oh yeah, look at that.
02:48Get over out of it.
02:50Try and pile them up all nice like.
02:53Oh yeah, I will.
02:56Very pretty.
02:58Without this excavator, this would take days and so, so much work.
03:10Out here in the woods, my time is my own.
03:16And that's why I'm living this different type of lifestyle.
03:28Looks good back here, Don.
03:30Yeah, not bad.
03:31This place burned down in 2017.
03:47It was a natural forest fire.
03:50The trappers, they didn't come back since the fire happened.
03:53So I'm here to start making the trapping possible again.
04:05There's a good highway here where snowshoe hares.
04:12I can see there was a couple runs back and forth.
04:17So I think I'm gonna set a couple snares here.
04:20That's a good sign.
04:21I was very relieved when I saw all those tracks because with that fire around, I was not sure that life was back.
04:34It's a good indicator that I'm gonna have actually a decent trapping season.
04:38I make a little loop, just big enough for the hair to jump through.
04:44Then I put a couple branches around to make sure they go through my snare.
04:48Make sure they don't go around.
04:50And hopefully I catch something.
04:57Trapping today is one of the last ways to live full-time, remote, in the bush.
05:04And it's not about killing and actually make money out of it.
05:10It's not why I'm doing that.
05:12It's more for the lifestyle.
05:15Without trapping, I wouldn't be able to live here.
05:25I am not the first person that tried to make a life here.
05:28It's been a few people before me that tried.
05:32But I mean, it's a wild place and it's not so easy.
05:36All around here, there is reminders of how hard it is to establish a life here.
05:49Wow.
05:50There's trees growing up on the roof.
05:52That's pretty cool.
05:53It's a very strange atmosphere here.
06:02It's half creepy, half super cool.
06:09These cabins are 40 years old.
06:12The trapper was named Plunkett.
06:13He was here with his family in the 70s, 80s.
06:16But they just took off one day and never came back.
06:20It was like stepping back 40 years back.
06:25That's the trapper's name, Plunkett.
06:32I'm sure I can find some stuff I can use.
06:35I mean, it's pretty old, but maybe I can use some of it.
06:38Yeah.
06:40It's to harvest berries.
06:42They made their own with nails.
06:43That's pretty cool.
06:45I'll keep it that one.
06:46I'll keep it that one.
06:47OK.
06:48OK.
06:50Thousands of spices here.
06:51I might not have enough, so that's perfect.
06:52Thousands of spice here.
07:07I might not have enough, so that's perfect.
07:13It's a bit weird because I'm doing the exact same thing that I did a couple of years ago.
07:18Vermin 100 guide.
07:22I can't imagine me being gone one day, I'm not there anymore, and the next trapper is coming
07:27and see all my s***.
07:38That's a freaking good stove.
07:40It's actually better than the stove I have for the cabin.
07:45I can't imagine my treasures.
07:49Like the roof is still super solid, there is no, you can't see the sky, I mean it's, yeah,
07:56it's so impressive.
08:00What are you doing Kate?
08:04What are you doing?
08:06Come here.
08:11Hey bud.
08:14Anything in the bush can be useful.
08:16You can't just go in the store and buy a bunch of s***.
08:21You have to use what's around you and learn from it as well.
08:25It's very interesting how he built the corners.
08:29It's a cool technique to be fast.
08:31I mean you don't have to do all the notches that take a way longer time.
08:37I mean it's still, it's still good, I mean it's still standing up 40 years later so.
08:43I might borrow that technique.
08:47Yeah, lots of rabbit tracks around here, right?
09:03There's a couple of, a couple of trails.
09:06Oh yeah, that's a good one.
09:12Yeah.
09:13Building our home isn't just about building a cabin, walls and a roof.
09:17That looks pretty sturdy.
09:20Yeah.
09:21It's our lifestyle too, being able to live off the land.
09:26Who thought you had a snare when you were younger?
09:28Ah, my dad did.
09:32Yep, it's good.
09:34So we got, what, ten more to go?
09:36Yeah.
09:37Alright, maybe we'll get one.
09:39One out of ten.
09:40Maybe ten out of ten.
09:47Alright, come on Nicky.
09:48Alright Nicky, next one.
09:53Wow, there's so many cougar trucks.
09:58I think it just reminds us we don't own the land, like we have to live with all of those
10:04other dangers as well, those other animals, it's their land as well.
10:11I think there's a ptarmigan.
10:13Where?
10:14Straight right there.
10:15Right there on that branch up there.
10:17Do you see them?
10:19Nope.
10:20Straight right there.
10:21Do you see it?
10:22Nope.
10:23Right there on that branch up there.
10:25Oh, I see one.
10:26Yeah.
10:27There's one there and then there's one there.
10:28Okay, there's two.
10:29Any time we see any opportunity present itself, we're going to take it, because you never
10:38know when your next meal is.
10:40Ready?
10:41Ready?
10:45Yeah.
10:48Two.
10:49Nice!
10:52Alright, good job Gilbert.
10:54Nicky, don't touch it.
10:57Hey Nicky, run away with it.
10:59Nicky!
11:00Oh yeah.
11:05Nicky, give me that ptarmigan.
11:07Hey, come over there.
11:09Nicky!
11:10Hey Nicky, are you eating our ptarmigan?
11:14Ah!
11:15Nicky eggs!
11:16He took a ptarmigan!
11:17Hey!
11:18Come over there!
11:19Come over there!
11:20That dog!
11:24The tobacco?
11:25Well, we just sprinkle it after you kill something or take something from the land.
11:43It has a respect, you know.
11:46When you take a life, you just give it back, okay, thank you, you give thanks, you're grateful.
11:54Things like that, there's many things that we do.
11:57Yeah, many traditions.
11:58Many traditions, yeah.
11:59That's just my way.
12:01My way.
12:02Mm-hmm.
12:03Yeah.
12:22Being here, it's a good way to keep the tradition alive.
12:27My great-grandfather had a cabin here, and myself, I built a log cabin when I was 25.
12:41When I finished to build the log cabin, it was at least a foot high above the ground,
12:47and now it's almost touching the ground.
12:50Okay, now I know why the corner just slipped out on the rock, and I don't want it to get to the ground.
13:00This will need to be lifted up on both sides, this side and this side here.
13:07Lift it up, put the rock underneath, and put it down.
13:13Still.
13:14Hey, man, it's frozen.
13:17The ground is so frozen.
13:21If I leave it this way, the moisture will hit these logs.
13:26If the logs, it's rotten, it's so hard to fix them that the cabin is gone.
13:35Just gonna make some room for the hydraulic jack.
13:40Oh, yeah.
13:41Here we go.
13:42The thing is, it can be very dangerous.
13:55If the jack fell down, when I'm doing it, the cabin can just go down.
14:02Boom!
14:03So, no, I don't want it to happen.
14:07These jacks look small, but they're very strong.
14:11They can lift four tons.
14:13It's so heavy.
14:25I can hear the whole cabin cracking.
14:31Uh-oh.
14:32Uh-oh.
14:33It looks like rotten.
14:39I don't want to replace the whole lug here.
14:43So, let's cross the finger.
14:45Right now, I can hear the cabin.
14:58I can hear the cabin.
14:59I can hear cracking.
15:00There we go.
15:01Ouch.
15:02I don't call this.
15:03Oof.
15:04Yeah, and I've got to be careful with my head.
15:07Oof.
15:08Okay.
15:09Okay.
15:10Okay.
15:11Okay.
15:12Okay.
15:13Okay.
15:14Okay.
15:15Okay.
15:16Oh, man.
15:17This is bad.
15:18I can hear the cabin.
15:19I can hear the cabin.
15:20I can hear the cabin.
15:21I can hear cracking.
15:22I can hear cracking.
15:23Ouch.
15:24I can call this.
15:25Oof.
15:26Man, this is bad.
15:30This is dry rot.
15:32The rain needs to be fixed.
15:35Is it better to do it now or later?
15:39Of course it's better to do it now.
15:43The excavation behind the cabin went great.
15:49And the next big thing now is to go out and find the right tree.
16:04This tree, this logs, the whole entire floor of the addition.
16:17The real key with trying to spot the right log from the trail is look at the tops.
16:22If you look at the tops, the units, they tell if, you know, it's high enough, tall enough.
16:27And right here, these ones look promising.
16:31Make some lumber, Ronnie.
16:35The thing with living in a remote place alone is that if something happens, no one knows.
16:47If I just fall the wrong way or something falls and hits me, that's it.
16:53There's no one that's going to notice.
16:54There's no check-in schedule.
16:56There's no one expecting me home at night.
16:58So you really are just riding that line, I guess.
17:09Hello, darling.
17:12Missed you.
17:19Slow contraptions of what they call an Alaska mill.
17:22Basically a very, very simple set-up you can take anywhere.
17:25Very lightweight.
17:29And you can make rough lumber basically out in the bush anywhere.
17:38It's a very, very useful tool out in the bush where there's no lumber store.
17:49Screw.
17:54Oh, I was afraid of that.
17:55I hit a screw with the chainsaw, which is not good.
17:59That's the worst thing you could do.
18:01Oh, sorry, girl.
18:03So sorry.
18:05As soon as you hit any metal with a chainsaw, especially a milling chain, boom, it's instantly dull.
18:15Trying to cut wood with a dull chain is like, it's like having a flat tire in your car.
18:19It'll still go down the road, but not very well.
18:25I saw smoke and it's working so hard.
18:28I got to stop and either really put some love in that chain, really sharpen the hell out of it, or go put a new chain on.
18:35Poor girl.
18:36Poor girl.
18:43Fresh foil job on the chain.
18:45Hopefully she cuts better than she was.
18:48A chainsaw is a woodsman's paintbrush.
19:05You're taking a raw material, purely raw, just a tree in the woods, and you take that and you turn it into something else.
19:12Oh, yeah.
19:23That's good hard wood.
19:25Oh, is that nice? Look at that.
19:28Of all the activities out here in the bush, milling lumber is probably my favourite.
19:36There's a lot of satisfaction when you come home with a beam or come home with a piece of lumber.
19:40That was just a tree 20 minutes ago.
19:47A tree in the woods.
20:01I want to be in the woods.
20:02I think the bush is the only place for me where I can feel the most myself.
20:11Never built a cabin on my own.
20:13I worked on a couple cabins before, but it's the first time actually doing it on my own.
20:18Pretty solid.
20:19Now that I have my square all lined up, I got to start cutting notches.
20:31That's what I saw on Plunkett's cabin.
20:34Do a little notch in that log and then flatten that log so they're going to sit perfectly together.
20:39I don't want to just do half-ass job just to have it done. I really want to be proud of what I'm building.
20:46Too low. My angle was a little on the first one. And I cut a little too, too deep.
21:07There is no instruction manual. You just have to figure it out on your own and make it work.
21:22Make it work.
21:26I need to make mistakes at first, so then, boom, I learn.
21:35This one is way more solid than the first one.
21:38So I'm way more happy about that one.
21:40I think it's going to be good.
21:46I'm going to need another one for that side.
21:49So I'm probably going to cut that one.
21:54So that's the next victim.
22:08That's going to be heavy.
22:12Those logs are way heavier than me.
22:15So it's going to be a little pain in the ass, I think, to bring it over there.
22:23Even if it's not that far, there is not enough snow to drag it yet.
22:27So it's just like carrying on there however you can.
22:35Holy . That's heavy.
22:38That's the part where it's the most challenging to be alone, to carry those logs.
22:44So being two people would help so much.
22:48But I'm not with someone. I'm alone.
22:52I'm getting really good at this.
22:54Yeah. It's the axe.
22:56It's not the axe.
22:58Whatever.
23:00I used to never cut it down in the same spot.
23:01Now I do.
23:02Yeah. Oh yeah.
23:04The axe.
23:05All right.
23:06Is this cleared up enough?
23:07Yeah, it's good.
23:09It's good.
23:10.
23:11.
23:12.
23:13.
23:14.
23:15.
23:16.
23:24.
23:25All right, is this cleared up enough?
23:28Yeah, it's good.
23:38This is a really big treat.
23:41To be honest, I feel really bad cutting it down,
23:43but it's going to go to good use.
23:45It's going to be our foundation.
23:55This is my first time making a cabin.
24:02So this is like a foundation, and a foundation to my knowledge.
24:12What I viewed as hard before moving here is totally different.
24:19Now we just have to stabilize it so it doesn't rock.
24:24And here, no one complains.
24:26They just do it, and they do it so badass.
24:30It's pretty solid.
24:35That totally inspires me just to be stronger and tougher.
24:41Yeah, I'm sore.
24:42I'm cold.
24:43I'm tired, and it doesn't matter.
24:45I just push through it.
24:49How's that?
24:50That's good.
24:50This is my first time using the sawmill.
24:55I'm good.
24:56So, the chainsaw is going to sit right here.
24:58I have a lot of appreciation for the woods.
25:02We cut down what we need, not more.
25:06We're learning together, and we're learning about each other as well, because we haven't been
25:09alone in a while without the kids.
25:10So, it's nice.
25:12It was never really good.
25:14It's not like the big thing.
25:15I think they're good.
25:15It's super fun to kind of get out.
25:16We don't want to get out of the way, but they're really good.
25:17We don't need...
25:17I don't want to get out of the way, but I'm more confident.
25:19All right.
25:20All right.
25:21All right.
25:21All right.
25:22All right.
25:23All right.
25:23All right.
25:24All right.
25:24All right.
25:25Okay.
25:25That's good.
25:25One, two feet.
25:26Cut.
25:27Yeah.
25:28We're learning together, and we're learning about each
25:30other as well, because we haven't been alone in a while without the kids,
25:36Nice.
25:40Bang on, yeah.
25:42Yeah, we're good to you.
25:44It's exciting to see what we've done.
25:47I can now visualize where the beds are going to be,
25:50where the kids are going to play.
25:51It's fun.
25:53OK, but I have one thing, though.
25:55You know how we said the door would be right there?
25:58Now that I see it, I think it'd be better
25:59if the door's right there.
26:00The door over there?
26:01Yeah.
26:03OK.
26:03Yeah, you want to go take out those stairs?
26:05All right, let's see what we got.
26:06Let's go check the snares.
26:08OK.
26:09Let's get some supper.
26:11Hopefully, we have a rabbit.
26:14It's really important that we get a lot of food off the land.
26:18We need to get some rabbits.
26:32It's been over 10 years since I've been here
26:35for a whole winter on my homestead.
26:37So, of course, it shows age.
26:42All right, so I'm going to cut up the rot and get rid of it.
26:48Not too long ago, I said to myself, OK, let's destroy everything.
26:52Tear it down.
26:54This is very rotten on the front here.
26:57But I said, ah, there is something good about this lug cabin.
27:03So, I'm just going to find a way and rebuild.
27:07I'm just going to cut it down.
27:08I'll cut it down.
27:09Yeah, this looks so dry here.
27:14This is not too bad actually.
27:15Yeah, just this part is rotten.
27:19This is not too bad at all.
27:22Living here in the woods, you have to learn how to adapt and how can I solve this problem.
27:30There we go. It's all in there. That's good.
27:42So now, let's place the rock back in place.
27:46Oh no, it's very heavy. That's very big.
27:51This work, yes, sometimes it's hard. Like life.
28:04And in life, I just want to go forward.
28:08I'm not going to do the same mistake. I'm just going to do it this way.
28:15Forward for me is to learn new things and to accept, you know, the difficulties I had.
28:24There we go.
28:28This is not easy, but you feel the reward after when you see, wow, I did it, you know.
28:35This is great.
28:38It's looking very good.
28:41This moment is real happiness for me.
28:46This is it.
28:49Okay, not a big part.
28:52Put it down.
29:02Okay, well, it is good.
29:05It looks on level.
29:07Very good.
29:09So now the base is done.
29:11The wood stove.
29:12This is the next step.
29:14Holy .
29:16That's heavy.
29:34It can be pretty challenging to be a woman out here.
29:41My main job is a hunting guide.
29:45And so far I've only worked with men.
29:48I'm going to try different things.
29:50One of them might not work.
29:51Like as a woman, they won't give you full trust at first.
30:06You have to, to show them that you can be as strong as them and you can do the same stuff.
30:12Sweating.
30:19It used to piss me off.
30:21And now it actually pushes me more.
30:24I'm like, you know, I can do it too.
30:26And I'll show you.
30:28My stubbornness got me where I am today.
30:39If something goes to , I will find a way to go around it.
30:43It's hard to be alone in the bush sometimes.
31:08But it's also a very deep experience.
31:26All the reward of doing everything by yourself for me is very precious.
31:30Right on the edge.
31:33Okay.
31:34It starts to look like a wall.
31:38It was hard.
31:41But I figured it out.
31:45How many more?
31:48At least, at least a dozen.
31:52More.
31:54We're building our home here because we really feel that we can get food off the land here.
32:15But it's really hard to know until we live there and see what we can get.
32:21Oh, no.
32:22Not there.
32:23Okay.
32:24Hopefully we have at least one.
32:25Yeah.
32:26When I was young, I didn't feel like I fitted in the city.
32:27And the one place that I really felt like myself was we lived in a house where we had
32:43a lot of bushes around.
32:45Every day I would just run off and go sit on a big giant rock and just relax.
32:50And I feel like I'm back to that place.
32:52Like this is just who I am.
32:53This is where I belong.
32:55Nothing there.
32:57No way.
32:58So I guess we're going to have to eat nigig today.
33:03Fresh treks.
33:04Oh, look at this.
33:05We got a rabbit.
33:06Nigig better not grab this one though because we're not going to eat tonight as he does.
33:10Alright.
33:11I'm happy.
33:12We got a rabbit.
33:13This is great.
33:14Like this is a good start of the season.
33:17So what are we making?
33:18Stew?
33:19Yeah, stew.
33:20I think I'm going to have a cutting board.
33:22Yeah, yeah.
33:23Or you want to use that.
33:24Give me a cutting board.
33:25We're getting really fancy now.
33:26Oh, yeah.
33:27Living off the land is really an incredible adventure.
33:28I think I've seen the best part of the environment, but I think I would love to help him out.
33:30And I know we're going to have to use that.
33:31You're going to make a good meal.
33:32I'm good outcome.
33:33I'm good.
33:34I'm good.
33:35And I'm good at all.
33:36I'm good at all.
33:37Huh?
33:38Yeah, yeah.
33:39But I'm good at all.
33:40So you're not good at all.
33:42Wow.
33:43I think I'm going to have a cutting board.
33:47Yeah, yeah.
33:48Or you want to use that?
33:49Give me a cutting board.
33:50We're getting really fancy now.
33:51Oh yeah.
33:55Living off the land is really not for everybody
33:58and I totally get that and I respect that.
34:01But I think it's really important that we get the kids out
34:05and they get to learn all these skills
34:07that Gilbert and I are going to be passing down to them.
34:11This is as real as it gets.
34:15I prefer this food over store-bought food.
34:18We know that it was eating off the land and it's fresh.
34:21So we know the whole process of the animal that we eat.
34:26I think food is medicine.
34:31For so long, Indigenous people, they haven't been respected
34:35or maybe they haven't been understood.
34:38And I think showing this and everything that Gilbert does,
34:43I really wanted to show people how amazing it is.
34:49I feel good about this place.
34:51It's going to keep our bellies full.
35:00We're going to be warm with the wood that we cut down
35:02and we have a shelter.
35:04That's all we can ask for.
35:05The winter is coming.
35:22And it's going to be cold.
35:24I will need a bigger wood stove.
35:28And I've got one from my great-grandfather.
35:32It's bigger, it's better.
35:41I'm not able to lift it up by myself.
35:43So, I've got something in mind.
35:55This stove has been in the family for three generations.
35:57Can you believe it?
35:59My great-grandfather was using this wood stove in his workshop.
36:04This is Castelron.
36:09And so heavy!
36:11That must weigh at least 100, 150.
36:23Of course, on the market, there is so many other stove I could buy.
36:29But I choose the one that my great-grandfather used.
36:35My body is so, so heavy.
36:38I'm very surprised how heavy it is.
36:41It's a way to keep the old ways alive.
36:45This is very important for me.
36:48Oh, yeah.
36:55Oh!
36:57Oh!
36:59Oh!
37:06It fell down.
37:07Just this foot.
37:09I'm just going to put it on the side.
37:10I got...
37:11You know, it's better to be scared than to be sorry.
37:16Okay, let's do it.
37:27Almost there!
37:30Woo-hoo-hoo!
37:34This cabin is so small.
37:36I really want it to be nice.
37:38I don't want to struggle.
37:39You know, I just want to feel like home.
37:44Woo!
37:46It looks amazing!
37:48Wow!
37:49It's huge!
37:50Big piece of log!
37:51Boo!
37:52You know?
37:54Yeah, I love it!
37:57Having a new wood stove, I feel very happy.
38:04To look at this wood stove and say, wow, it's part of the family again.
38:10So, yeah, I'm glad.
38:15I've got so many dreams and ideas for my homestead.
38:21Now that my cabin is warm and safe, I can tackle all the projects I've got planned for the winter.
38:29We've got to start working on the foundation.
38:39We need to lay down some cement blocks.
38:40Right there, somewhere will be good for now.
38:44Some six-by-six posts on top of the blocks.
38:45And away we go.
38:47All right, hold on that.
38:48Hold on that, do I screw that one out?
38:50This is perfect.
38:52Don't do that.
38:54Done.
38:55Done!
38:56Done.
38:57Done!
38:58Done!
38:59Done!
39:01Done!
39:03Done!
39:05Done!
39:06Done!
39:08Done!
39:09Done!
39:10Done!
39:11Done!
39:12Done!
39:13Done!
39:14Done!
39:15Done!
39:16more of a perfectionist than I am.
39:18Over, over, okay, hold it there.
39:21Don likes working at a slow pace
39:23and having everything perfectly perfect,
39:25where I'm more just, if it works, it works.
39:28Let's get it up and let's get it done.
39:31All right, last piece.
39:35If you put the net low, you have the same, great.
39:38Staff for this one, we'll get this one leveled up.
39:40I'll bring the beam in.
39:41Now. Hey?
39:42Yeah, the beam is next, but...
39:44We'll do the outside beam first.
39:45Yeah, but look.
39:46Something that's square.
39:47Something not right.
39:52Just got to come out.
39:53Your cabin can't be square, but...
39:58Is this it here, Don, where we're out?
40:00We can snip the bottom of this off.
40:02All right, snip that off and I'll get the drill.
40:04Push it in flush.
40:05Now, I don't know if I got a mark.
40:10Out here, you need to be flexible.
40:12I'll get that dammer.
40:14Yeah, so see that gap?
40:15That's what it's throwing up square, right?
40:16Yeah.
40:17Kick your block down now.
40:19When it comes to this cabin, when it comes to living in the bush,
40:21I mean, I really have no idea.
40:23I'm just going along with it and just figuring out.
40:26Square is touching now all the way around.
40:27Is it?
40:28Yep.
40:29Whatever I don't know, whenever I can't figure it out,
40:30I'll just take the time and learn it.
40:35None of this is rocket science.
40:36It's all just living.
40:38That's it.
40:39That's half of them all.
40:41He got a good one.
40:43There, too much.
40:44Judas Priest.
40:45That's it.
40:46That's it.
40:48It's not a job.
40:49It's not nine to five.
40:50There's no boss, breathe, down my neck.
40:51I have the time to figure it out.
40:53Round of money, eh?
40:55Perfect.
40:56Perfect.
40:57All right.
40:59Bring the beam.
41:00Bring the beam.
41:02And that's, you know, that's one of the, yeah,
41:05the beauties of this whole lifestyle.
41:10Look at that, boy.
41:11Yes, sir.
41:15I love it.
41:16You really feel how big the wing is going to be now,
41:18the addition.
41:19Oh, you're going to call it a wing.
41:21Addition, wing, whatever.
41:23Look, that's a big square.
41:26It was a real, almost a weight off the shoulders
41:28watching those beams go in, because now I knew we were
41:30beat the winter.
41:33Let's be laid back here.
41:34Yeah.
41:35Something like this.
41:37Sipping coffee.
41:38That's going to be great.
41:39I will.
41:41It's one thing to talk about how big you're going to build.
41:44Actually seeing the foundation, seeing the square.
41:47I mean, it really feels real now.
41:55At the end of a long day, you know, it's kind of nice
41:57to sit around the fire and just take a moment to enjoy the woods.
42:05Squirrels are just, they're like sunsets.
42:07You're never going to run into squirrels.
42:09You chase a few, you miss a few, eventually you get one.
42:12And that's kind of the fun of it.
42:17Trick for the flavor, if you have no salt, no pepper,
42:20is to cook them for a round.
42:23Because it gives them a barbecue almost taste.
42:31We're going to eat good tonight, Ronnie.
42:32Hey, you want a couple of squirrel legs?
42:35Back legs, like two little chicken wings,
42:37two little bush chicken wings.
42:41That's lovely.
42:42Friday night squirrel.
42:47That's where I'm at in life right now.
42:49I'm excited for a squirrel on a Friday night.
42:55It's not for everybody, but hey, I love it.
