00:00However big or small, our homes should be a haven.
00:04I really need Clean It Fix It's help.
00:07Hi!
00:08But we're all feeling the pinch at the moment.
00:10Where to start?
00:11I hate DIY because I'm terrible at it.
00:14I think it's important to know your limitations.
00:16Awful.
00:17What on earth is that?
00:19It's not always easy keeping a house in order.
00:21I'm going to clean it, Tommy's going to fix it.
00:25Sputter.
00:26Simple as that.
00:27But you can take back control of your home.
00:29Look at the slug, he's got his own bar.
00:31Ooh, that's massive.
00:32With clever, common sense hacks.
00:34Sip!
00:35Come back up again.
00:36Ha ha ha!
00:37All done on a shoestring.
00:39From the old to the new.
00:42Wow!
00:43This is pink beyond belief.
00:45Sometimes I'm just too good.
00:47We'll show you how you can make life-changing improvements in just 24 hours.
00:52This is actually my house.
00:54And on a next-to-nothing budget.
00:56I'm a house!
00:58With better use and a spruce up of your space.
01:01Wow!
01:02This is amazing!
01:03Oh!
01:05Ha ha ha ha ha!
01:07Oh my word!
01:08Ha ha ha!
01:09No way!
01:11This is not our room!
01:12Never have.
01:13Of course you can, my pleasure.
01:15Our team of experts is here to help.
01:22Usher!
01:23Whoa!
01:24Do you reckon you can clean it?
01:25Anything can clean.
01:26We're cooking on gas.
01:28Master builder Tommy Walsh brings over 50 years of DIY experience.
01:33Look at that.
01:34You can actually dance on that.
01:36Looks good, doesn't it?
01:38Maxine Dwyer runs one of the UK's top extreme cleaning companies.
01:43Proof is in the pudding.
01:45Dirt is in the sponge.
01:46And creative carpenter Asher Edwards prides himself on being a perfectionist.
01:51You can tell I've done this before, can't you?
01:54A work of art.
01:55Cheers!
01:56Cheers!
01:57Cheers!
01:58Ha ha ha!
01:59So who needs the team's help today?
02:02Hi, I'm Natalie.
02:04I'm John.
02:05This is Lola, Sophia and Albie.
02:07We've lived here for 10 years now.
02:10We moved from a flat when we just had Lola.
02:13So we bought a house that was big enough for all of us and now we're full.
02:16We have two wonderful pets, Carlos and Walt.
02:19We bought two dogs because they don't molt, but they both molt.
02:23We could actually clone Carlos quite happily from just the fur that he's lost today.
02:30With John working full-time as an IT consultant,
02:33much of the responsibility for running the house, three children and two dogs falls to Natalie.
02:39Well, I try to be a tidy person but I'm thwarted at every turn by everyone else who refuses to be a tidy person.
02:46I don't have the energy to do it after all the other stuff.
02:50Walking the dogs, doing the school run, doing all the washing.
02:53Cleaning's definitely bottom of the list and tidying.
02:58But it's not just the busy home life that's making things harder for Natalie.
03:02So I've got a condition called Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome which is a collagen deficiency
03:07which affects me sort of like an arthritis.
03:09So I find it very difficult to move around.
03:11I get very tired.
03:12My joints are very achy.
03:14I also have a condition attached to that which is called postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome
03:19which basically means that when you go from sitting to standing,
03:24the capillaries in the bottom half of your legs should contract and force blood up to your head.
03:28But mine don't so the blood pools in my legs and I pass out.
03:34This is our conservatory.
03:36As you can see, we've done everything we possibly can to make it livable.
03:41We tried to put up some film in the top windows because when you sit in there,
03:45you're just blinded first thing in the morning if it's a sunny day.
03:48You can't be in there.
03:49You have to face away and then your back gets burnt because you're sat right by the windows.
03:53These are the sofas which we spent a fortune on but now can't even use because it's just covered in dog hair.
04:00John's got asthma, Berto's got asthma and it's just not a great place to be with loads of dog hair.
04:08So this is my utility room.
04:10As you can see, it's just piled high with everything and I can't use this area at the back because it's just piled with stuff.
04:18And I can't get into the door of the garage here either because that's stuff here as well.
04:23It's just stuff everywhere.
04:25And I've got nowhere really to hang big sheets, although that is difficult for me because I don't, I can't do the lifting and heaviness of wet sheets.
04:33But it's the front room that's causing the biggest problems.
04:40The front room is this guy's.
04:43Nobody else wants to be in there with him and even if they did, there's no space on the six person sofa for anyone but him
04:49because the other five seats are taken up with toys and boxes and that's basically what that room is.
04:55Despite the chaos, husband John has no choice but to share the space.
05:00I spend most of my days now working from home so it is obviously not very helpful that every room is a mess so luckily I can hide it with filters on the camera.
05:14We just need some clever ideas about how we can do things, about how we can store stuff, about how we can hide it away.
05:21Tried every different angle.
05:23And we just have no idea what we're doing.
05:30Well luckily today is the big clean and fix.
05:35With the team arriving shortly, Natalie, John, the children and dogs head out giving them full access to their home.
05:43I think we're just down here.
05:45So the team can show how to make a difference in just 24 hours on a next to nothing budget.
05:51Wowzer.
05:53Look at this.
05:54Oh goodness.
05:55Toys and toys and more toys.
05:58Wow.
05:59There is so much going on in there.
06:02I don't even know where to look.
06:03Well let's move on and have a look at something else, eh?
06:06Yeah.
06:07The office area is no different from the kids' area.
06:11It's just chaos.
06:12And all them clothes.
06:13Look behind the clothes, the wall.
06:15There might have been a TV mount there or a picture frame.
06:18Oh yeah.
06:19But it's an unfinished paint job.
06:20Oh dear.
06:21What I do like though is this olive green that they've got dabbed around this office area.
06:26So they've got a creative eye.
06:28But it doesn't quite help hide the mess.
06:31Well let me tell you why there's a lot of mess.
06:33It's a very busy family.
06:35Three children and Natalie with health issues.
06:38And the husband a hard worker.
06:40So of course there's bound to be a bit of chaos here.
06:43There's a lot to keep up with.
06:45Yeah, yeah.
06:46Shall we go on to the next place?
06:47Yes, sure.
06:48Let's go then.
06:54The Conservatory.
06:56Ooh.
06:57There's a fresh smell of dog in there.
07:00Yeah, you can smell it for sure.
07:02They've got two dogs.
07:03One big one and one smaller one.
07:06So that's why we can see...
07:07Dog hair.
07:08All over.
07:09Yeah, look at this.
07:10It's hot in here, isn't it?
07:12It's very hot.
07:13Yeah.
07:14So in the summer it gets hot.
07:15In the winter it's too cold.
07:17The kids area used to be here.
07:19But now it's at the front.
07:20Right.
07:21They can manage the temperatures in the front there.
07:23Here they can't.
07:24So they've moved this to be their lounge.
07:27So this is their sort of adult relaxing area.
07:30Yeah.
07:31And the dog's relaxing area.
07:33So I'd say you've got your work in here big time.
07:35I have.
07:36Plenty, plenty.
07:37You've got a lot to do.
07:38Yep.
07:39I think we've got one more room to check out.
07:40Oh, have we?
07:41Yeah, let's have a look.
07:42Okay.
07:43Mind your step.
07:50Look where we are.
07:51Right, well it's obviously a utility room because it's got a sink in it.
07:54Yep.
07:55There's too much clutter, too many coat hangers and this is badly laid out.
08:00It could be used a lot better.
08:01Are they using it as a walking wardrobe?
08:04Looking at all these hangers here, I suppose this is where they hang stuff up to dry.
08:08Yeah.
08:09This needs a bit of a tidy up really and I think it should be reconfigured a bit.
08:14Yeah.
08:15Well we better get started.
08:16Yeah, let's get the tools out.
08:17Let's get cracking.
08:18They'll need to if they're to make the space more tidy, clean and manageable for Natalie
08:25and the family.
08:26Maxine's focus will be the dusty, hairy conservatory.
08:31Asher's mission will be the lack of storage in the front room.
08:36And Tommy will focus his attention on reconfiguring the utility room.
08:41Any clutter will be set aside for the family to go through later.
08:47Yeah.
08:48Let's get them.
08:49Now, ready for work.
09:08The kids have clearly marked their territory with all their toys.
09:13But the problem is, there's nowhere to store them.
09:16Now, ideally, I want to keep the two zones separate,
09:19where the kids can play in one half of the living room
09:22and the second half of the living room is for the adults.
09:30I've definitely got my work cut out. It's going to take all my skills.
09:36Whoa! Ha-ha-ha-ha!
09:39I've given this a bit of a clear-out,
09:41and there's just dust, dust, dust, and more dust and dog fur.
09:47The conservatory is used primarily by the dogs and me.
09:51John won't sit on the sofa unless he has a towel
09:54because he doesn't like the dog hair.
09:57First, I'm going to give it a vac.
10:02Start at the top and work your way down.
10:07Oh, that's much better. Lovely.
10:12And don't forget those hard-to-reach places,
10:15which, if you have pets, experts recommend cleaning at least once a week.
10:21Asha? Maxi?
10:24Hello, sweetie. I'm trying to clean a window ledge, but the sofa's in my way.
10:28It's absolutely impossible.
10:30I'm patiently waiting for the day that you call me with good news.
10:34Oh, lovely.
10:35Something fun and wonderful.
10:36Well...
10:37But today is not the day.
10:39Well, I'm sure you'll find plenty of fun underneath there.
10:42Yeah, you'll see...
10:43I've seen a peak already and this is not looking good.
10:46And you want me to go down there?
10:48Yes, please.
10:49Oh, my...
10:50Don't do it. The sofa's too heavy.
10:53Let me try and see.
10:55Oh, my gosh, there's a spider!
11:00Oh, wow, look at this.
11:01Look at the colour difference.
11:04Oh, God, look at this.
11:06Oh, wow!
11:08You just tell me if there's any spiders on my back.
11:11No, you're good. Don't worry, Maxi.
11:12Are you sure?
11:13I'm your guardian angel.
11:14Oh, God, look at this.
11:15Oh, wow.
11:17All right, Maxi, stop playing with the old dog here.
11:19I'm trying to hold this...
11:20This sofa.
11:21It's true, it's true, it's true.
11:22It's true, it's true. Look at me.
11:23Whoa!
11:25Whoa!
11:27Whoa!
11:28Wow.
11:29Oh, God, there you go.
11:30Is that a bit better?
11:32Oh, wow.
11:34You should be able to get all down there now.
11:36Yes, I should.
11:37Thank you so much.
11:38Look at all the crisp wrappers down there.
11:40Oh, my gosh.
11:42Thank you very much, Asha.
11:43Good luck.
11:45Das galore.
11:48Whilst Maxine continues her cleaning blitz of the conservatory...
11:52Oh, wow.
11:53Look at this.
11:54Baby's shoe, look.
11:56Aww.
11:58In the utility room, Tommy's getting to grips with a layout.
12:03Oh, 225.
12:05It's very important to utilise all the space that we have
12:08because currently they've been using the countertop for storage
12:13and that means then you can't use it for anything else.
12:16It's being used as effectively as I am able to do it.
12:20I'm not going to be taking stuff off the walls and putting up new stuff
12:24and, yeah, it's how it was when we moved in.
12:28We've not done anything to it because we just...
12:30I can't do anything to it.
12:31We're going to move these shelves around, jiggle them about
12:35and then put an extra one in
12:38and then, of course, that gives you some extra storage.
12:41A great advantage of using this type of shelf racking
12:46is that you can move them about easily without having to take screws out and everything.
12:51You just unhook them and put them where you want them.
12:54and actually put another wooden shelf over the top of it
12:58so that these bars can be used for coat hangers if they want to.
13:04Right, I've got the measurement. Get these two shelves cut.
13:07Tommy's new shelves will be made from MDF, an engineered wood that's both strong and durable and more affordable than pine or oak.
13:20That should do the job perfectly.
13:21And it doesn't end there.
13:22I'm going a bit shelving crazy in this room now, I've got the opportunity, so I'm thinking of putting some narrower shelves on this side.
13:36Well, the size of the shelves are actually governed by the size of the brackets.
13:43Now, this side is shorter than this side.
13:47You put the long side on the wall for extra support and you have the shelf will fit on the top part of the bracket.
13:53You've got to be careful that the live cable in there normally directly above the switch or the socket.
14:01So we're going to come over here so we'll be well clear up here.
14:06And we can get a couple of shelves in there quite comfortably.
14:11When working near any electrics, if you're unsure, always contact a professional.
14:16Look good.
14:31Next door, with the room emptied of toys, Asha's thoughts have turned to that unfinished paint job.
14:38OK, the area is clear and now I need to figure out what colour
14:44I want to paint this wall.
14:48Maybe I need one or two more opinions.
14:51Tommy? Maxine?
14:53Yes, Asha?
14:55I need to borrow your eyes.
14:57Right, I've got a bunch of colours that I'm struggling to pick from.
15:00So I'm torn between one, two and three.
15:07Oh.
15:09I'd go for one, I would, because the lightness of it,
15:11they'll bring a bit more light into this room.
15:15True, dark sofa, light wall, perfect.
15:18Funny that it's called Earth Friendly because I think, Tommy, you should get pretty friendly with this colour.
15:24I feel a curveball coming round the corner to me.
15:28If I haven't got enough to do, I'm going to have to paint this now.
15:30Listen, I will prep the whole wall for you.
15:33I'll take this down, I'll make space, and you and Earth Friendly can get real friendly.
15:38OK, you do that part of the deal.
15:41I'll come in and put the paint on.
15:42Sounds like a plaid.
15:43Oh, lovely.
15:45That's how you do it, Maxine.
15:46He will paint any time.
15:47OK, now that that wall unit is off, I can start prepping this tired old wall.
16:04So I want to take out all of these wall plugs and then, here, I've got some ready-mixed wall filler
16:10and, with a scraping blade, simply apply it to all the holes.
16:17It's super important that you take your time and do your prep work correctly.
16:23And if you skip your prep work, trust me, it shows when you're painting, or when Tommy's painting.
16:31Ready-mixed wall filler is best suited to small and medium-sized cracks and holes,
16:36as it's paintable, spreads easily and won't shrink or crack.
16:40For anything larger, you'll need a filler that works specifically for that depth.
16:45Great.
16:46Now that the fill-in prep work is done, you can let it dry and leave the rest to Tommy.
17:03In the conservatory...
17:05Look at this. Look at this!
17:08Maxine's dealing with an issue shared with over 10 million dog owners in the UK.
17:13The dog uses this posh sofa as their bed.
17:17So, of course, there's going to be lots of hair underneath the cushions.
17:21There is so much hair here, I could make a dog out of this.
17:24I mean, it's disgusting. It's all the things that you would imagine a dog would...
17:31Bring in. ..leave on a sofa when they sleep and roll around and, yeah, it's disgusting.
17:38This needs to be vacuumed.
17:42This is... Look at this! Oh, wow!
17:48For asthma sufferers like John and his son Alberto, pet hair is one of the more common allergens and could trigger symptoms.
17:55Dog hairs are difficult to get off sofas.
17:59I've been vacuuming this for about 10 minutes now and we've still got hairs on it.
18:03So, if you put a rubber glove on, wet it and then just draw the hairs into little piles.
18:11And then you vacuum them up.
18:16Then we clean the top of it.
18:18With this type of material, you have to use a soft bristle brush because you don't want to damage it.
18:26Once this is done, the sofa will smell a lot better and it will be clean and fresh.
18:34And Maxine's got another trick up her sleeve to ensure she removes everything.
18:38I'm grabbing the hairs with a squeegee.
18:42This gets rid of dust. Absolutely brilliant.
18:45Dust and pet fur. It's very good for that.
18:48So, first of all, you wet your squeegee.
18:51Dip it in your water. Shake it off.
18:54Come down with your squeegee just like this.
18:57But look at this. You will have dust on here.
18:59Can you see the dust? In the water again.
19:02Dip, dip, splash and go again.
19:06There you go.
19:09But it's not just dog hair that Maxine's dealing with.
19:13Now, this stain, we have to be careful with this type of material.
19:17Because if you touch it with loads of water, you could ruin it.
19:20So, I've got a damp glove here.
19:23And I'm going to just touch it with it.
19:26Give her work at the fibre.
19:28Because this has been there for quite a while, I can see.
19:31And I'm trying to raise the fibres now.
19:34With a wooden implement.
19:36Go from different angles as well.
19:38Now into circles.
19:41There you go.
19:42That looks a bit better now.
19:47Outside, with a filler in the front room drying, Asha's attention has turned to the lack of storage for the children's toys.
19:53Right.
19:56I've got this bench pad, which looks pretty good.
20:01And most importantly, will be super comfy for the kids to sit on.
20:06Once I make their toy box.
20:09So, when we moved from our flat, we just had Lola.
20:13And I think we sort of thought, well, we're going to have more children.
20:17And we'll get to recycle all the toys and it won't be a problem.
20:20Because you just have another child and here's the bag of toys that you have again.
20:24And then we had three children that are so completely different that we just never got a chance to do that.
20:29Oh, look at that.
20:32Looks good.
20:34And it feels comfy.
20:35First things first, take my measurements, build the base, the main carcass, and then I can figure out the top once I get to that point.
20:46But I really like this colour as well.
20:49Nice and vibrant.
20:50OK, this might look a mess right now but it makes perfect sense to me.
21:06So, on my right I've got a cutting list of all the dimensions I need to cut my MDF.
21:11And then on the left I've got a rough diagram as to how everything's going to glue and screw together.
21:18With the lid, I'm constructing it so it covers all four sides of the carcass.
21:25And that way all the weight will be distributed along the edge, which means it will be a lot more durable.
21:34And that is definitely the safe way to go.
21:36Having a dedicated place for your child's toys is not only practical but can encourage them to take responsibility for their own things.
21:47So, to assemble my toy chest, I'm using good old reliable wood glue and screws.
21:58And together in unison, wood glue and wood screws, they create a nice solid fixing, creating the perfect joint.
22:06Be sure to be generous with the wood glue.
22:10It's only water-based so you can easily wipe it off when the squeeze out happens.
22:16And to screw my pieces together, I'm using a self-tapping wood screw.
22:24And I've pre-drilled all my holes so my screws can glide through in the right position I want it to.
22:32And don't overdo it.
22:34Once your screw is tight, the job is done.
22:39And then a damp cloth just to wipe off all the excess glue.
22:46It is a thing of beauty.
22:53With Asha busy in the garden...
22:59In the utility room, Tommy's working on a storage solution of his own.
23:03This is an extendable clothes dryer. It's all in stainless steel so it won't rust.
23:09And when you want to put it away, you just push it in and pull it forward to use it.
23:14Extendable clothes dryers are designed to work in restricted spaces and can be bought online for around £20.
23:24That's it, and another job done. That's nice. You can push it back. Simple. Pull it out. Yeah. Perfecto.
23:28Maxine's put the conservatory on pause to tackle the front room as Tommy needs it to be dust free before he can paint.
23:46Ah. See, look how much stuff.
23:50Oh. All of this has come from the back of the sofa.
23:55Oh, wow. It's full of dust, fluff, dust mites and dog hair.
24:02And dog hair. So I need a sweeping and then a cleaning and sanitising.
24:11Wow. Wow.
24:13So I've got my rag and washing up liquid.
24:24Blob of it.
24:28This is very, very dirty, this area. Look at that.
24:32Oh, wow.
24:33Skirting boards are often forgotten when it comes to cleaning, but ideally should be wiped down once a fortnight.
24:40There you go, and that's better now. Flip your rag and then rinse it. Always important to keep rinsing, otherwise you'll be cleaning other areas with your dirty rag and spreading it.
24:54And then spray with your white vinegar.
24:58And this white vinegar is to sanitise the area.
25:04We're sanitising it because they've got dogs, and the dogs may be slobbered all over the wall. Who knows?
25:10There you go. That's it. Done.
25:18So far, everything's going to plan.
25:20Now I just need to work out and assemble the top lid.
25:24That's going to hinge.
25:26Shut them like this.
25:28And with his boards already cut, Asher screws in the hinges, attaches the lip around the edges.
25:39Sometimes in life you just don't have enough hands, so you have to use your head.
25:43And gives it a sand to ensure it's perfectly smooth and child-friendly.
25:55So this is my lid fully constructed.
25:58Just need to mount it to my carcass.
26:02And then that is my toy chest complete.
26:07I am confident enough to stand on it.
26:10To stand on it.
26:15Great. Now I've got my footprint all over it.
26:17Quick wipe down.
26:19And what is even better is that my wonderful cushion fits in like a dream.
26:29Look at that.
26:38Looks pretty good.
26:52Well this was the colour that the three of us landed on when it came to choosing the colour that would go in here.
27:00It will pick up with the olive green paintwork on some of the doors and some of the key features around the room.
27:08And it also should blend nicely with that deep purple sofa.
27:14It should look really quite stunning with this.
27:16Once again I'm doing ashes painting for him.
27:31It seemed innocuous enough but what he doesn't need to know just between you and me is that I quite enjoy painting anyway.
27:37This is far more relaxing than putting up loads and loads of shelves for instance.
27:46After such a busy morning the team's more than earned a quick tea break.
27:58Asha would you believe that this house is overrun with two dogs and three children.
28:07And two adults.
28:08Yeah.
28:09We're battling for space and the junk is piling up.
28:12Hi guys.
28:13How are you?
28:14Hi Tommy.
28:15We're just talking about this house overrun by dogs and little people.
28:21Well the youngest is five.
28:22Yeah.
28:23So there's toys everywhere.
28:25And the biggest dog is the same height as the five year old I think.
28:30Yeah.
28:31So that's madness isn't it.
28:33Alright guys.
28:34Well.
28:35It's a nice refreshing drink but got plenty of work to do.
28:38Yeah.
28:39We'd better get on aye.
28:40We're better yeah.
28:42They'll need to.
28:44As Maxine still has to banish the dust and dog hair from the conservatory rug.
28:51Asha has to create even more storage in the front room.
28:55And Tommy's got to tackle an issue in the conservatory that affects thousands of families across the UK.
29:00Well it was an ice box like beyond an ice box in the winter and a beyond a sauna in the summer.
29:09Like literally unhealthy the heat and the cold that were in there.
29:14One of the common problems of the conservatory is controlling the temperature.
29:19Now the best way to do that is to use blackout curtains that would keep the heating in the winter.
29:25And then in the summer blocking out the direct sunlight coming in and heating this place up a bit too much.
29:33So these two poles need to be cut down to size and then fit it in position.
29:44By keeping heat in during the colder months the family should also save money on their energy bills.
29:56So I'm going to put that one in place.
30:01And this one we bring over the top.
30:04And we just put a bit of pressure and snap it into place.
30:08And that's it. All that's left to do now is one thing.
30:11Let's put the curtains up.
30:17Leave it like that for a while and all the creases should drop out.
30:21And you've got the perfect finish.
30:25So much more to do today.
30:31I'm hoping that magically some of the toys will disappear by time I walk back in the house.
30:38But I don't think that's going to happen.
30:44This rug was in the conservatory.
30:47And I'm keeping my mask on because it's full of dust.
30:51Have a look at this.
30:52Look at that.
30:54The best way to clean this rug is to give it a bit of a beating.
30:58Can you see the difference already?
31:01Oh wow. Can you see that?
31:04What?
31:06Start at the top and pound your way down to the bottom.
31:10Look at that.
31:12Found this baseball bat in the garage.
31:15Perfect.
31:16Oh wow.
31:18Look at this.
31:20Whoa.
31:22Whoa.
31:24Can you see the original colour?
31:28Nice and cream and grey.
31:30And dirty side.
31:32Brown.
31:34The clean bit's been under the sofa.
31:36Protected by a game.
31:38Wow.
31:39Rugs are major dust magnets and the more fibres they have, the more dirt they harbour.
31:48Nothing that can't be fixed by a simple vacuum once or twice a week.
31:53There's nothing wrong with this rug, it'll last a few more years.
31:57Once it's vacuumed up, it's actually quite nice.
32:10Right, Tommy's done a really good job painting this wall.
32:13And now it's my time to add a few extra shelves for extra storage for the family.
32:19Fixing anything to the wall might seem daunting but it's super easy.
32:25The first step you've got to do is figure out what type of wall you're working with.
32:29And the simple knock test will help you figure out whether it's a plasterboard wall or a brick wall.
32:36Brick walls are easier to fix, they're nice and solid.
32:40Plasterboard walls, a bit more tricky because it could be a Dutton Dab wall,
32:44could be a timber stud, could be metal C studs.
32:49But either way, if you've got the right fixings, secure into the wall is super easy.
32:55I've got my L brackets, going to attach my longer length to the wall for that extra support.
33:03And then my shelf will sit right on top.
33:07As Asha's fixing his brackets to a solid brick wall, he's using 50mm screws and wall plugs for increased stability.
33:19Oh my God!
33:22It's the most beautiful shelf I've ever seen!
33:25I've seen!
33:39Shelves!
33:41Just like that!
33:42Hee hee!
33:44With time almost up, the team needs to give it a final push.
33:48This I acquired online, very inexpensive.
33:54And what it does, it allows you to store coat hangers on the flat.
34:01So these ones.
34:03Alright, so I've got some Velcro sticky pads that I'm going to use on the bottom of this cushion.
34:24Just to stop it from flaying off when I open the lid.
34:28Because without it, the cushion doesn't stay very long.
34:39This.
34:49Ooh!
34:51I think that's the job complete.
34:52So in just 24 hours and on a shoestring budget, have the Clean It Fix It team brought order to the chaos and provided a cleaner and more manageable space for the whole family.
35:06There we are!
35:10You did well today.
35:12Thank you very much and you did too, my sweetie.
35:14You really worked hard.
35:16It's time to go home now, let's go.
35:18Yes, yes.
35:20Time to go and rest.
35:22I'm worried!
35:23You're worried?
35:24Are you not excited?
35:26Well, I'm worried and I am.
35:27You're excited, lad?
35:28We hope you enjoy your new space from the Clean It Fix It team.
35:38Hello!
35:40Hello, hello, hello!
35:43Welcome home, family. How are we doing?
35:45Good.
35:46Good, good.
35:48Pleasure.
35:49Let's take you inside.
35:50First, we're going to go around the corner to the utility room first.
35:55You know the way.
35:58Earlier, the utility room was piled high with cleaning equipment and washing, with little space for Natalie to move around safely.
36:08But thanks to Tommy, everything now has a home.
36:11New shelves have been added, freeing up precious floor and worktop space.
36:18And his extendable clothes rack allows Natalie to fold it away after use.
36:23Oh, my God!
36:26Is it our house?
36:28Oh, my God!
36:29The sink! You can use the sink!
36:31Oh, my God! Oh, my God!
36:33Oh, my God!
36:34There you go!
36:36Exactly!
36:38This is so exciting!
36:39Oh, my God!
36:40Exactly!
36:41You can spend hours in here now.
36:42I mean, I already do, but still.
36:44So, you now have access to your sink, whereas this morning it was a little bit cluttered.
36:49Just a little.
36:50That's where I kept my odd socks.
36:51It's one of these for odd socks now.
36:54Oh, my God!
36:56I never even thought to use that other wall, because everything was so cluttered anyway, but it doesn't even feel cluttered now, because I've got all this space.
37:02Exactly.
37:03So, we've taken a lot of the things off the floor, created extra shelves, and you've noticed the hanging rack.
37:08Oh, I'm so excited about this.
37:09Just behind you.
37:11So, you can dry your clothes there.
37:14So exciting.
37:15That is cool.
37:16And I can see out the window!
37:18Are you excited about my laundry room?
37:20Yes!
37:21Yes!
37:23I'm glad you're excited, but this is just the beginning.
37:26Oh, my God.
37:27Oh, don't.
37:28Yes!
37:29I'm happy with just this!
37:30There's more to come.
37:31Hi!
37:32Hi, everyone!
37:33Amazing.
37:34Where are you going?
37:35You followed me to the conservatory.
37:36Oh!
37:37To the back.
37:38Yeah.
37:39When the team arrived, the conservatory was covered in dog hair and dust.
37:44And the lack of curtains made it impossible to control the temperature.
37:50But now, the family have got a room to be proud of.
37:53The whole space has been given a deep clean courtesy of Maxine, and Tommy's stylish blackout curtains allow the family to control the temperature, whatever the weather.
38:05No way!
38:06Oh, my God!
38:07Come on through!
38:08I've got curtains, Natalie.
38:09I've got curtains!
38:10I love it!
38:11So much space!
38:12And look how clean!
38:13I know!
38:14Hey, look!
38:15We can sit on the sofa!
38:16Exactly.
38:17Everyone can sit on the sofa and not feel disgusted!
38:20Look at that!
38:24Oh, my God.
38:25I was so scared to put up a curtain rail, because I thought it would just pull down the whole wall.
38:29Tommy knows how to put up a curtain rail.
38:31That's not his first curtain rail.
38:32It's not his first.
38:33It won't be his last, either.
38:35Oh, my God.
38:36I love it.
38:37Maxine's worked super hard on the sofa.
38:40Oh, my God.
38:42The carpet has had a super deep clean.
38:44Yeah.
38:45I was just looking.
38:46Underneath the sofa.
38:47No.
38:48No!
38:49That's underneath!
38:52We found a few things.
38:55It's amazing.
38:56Windows have been cleaned.
38:57And the windows still.
38:58You can actually see through them.
38:59You can see through the windows, but Maxine's worked super hard.
39:02Yeah, I can see.
39:03And brought this whole room back to life.
39:04Oh, my God.
39:05And look, it's not just a dumping ground.
39:07It's all been organised.
39:08Exactly.
39:09That has been the main game for today.
39:11Organisation.
39:12Definitely.
39:13Love it.
39:14Do you like it, Berto?
39:15He's chilling in his new chair.
39:17I've got another chair that you might find a little bit more comfortable.
39:21We'll go and see another surprise.
39:22Love it.
39:23Ready?
39:24See?
39:25My heart can't take any more.
39:27The final surprise could have the biggest impact.
39:33Before, the front room was a sea of toys and clothes and unfinished paintwork.
39:38But now, the room has something for everyone.
39:45The space has been separated into two zones for work and play.
39:51The wall's been repainted, and thanks to Asha's new storage box, the family now have extra seating and can hide all of the children's toys out of sight.
40:02Come on in.
40:03Oh, my God.
40:04Come on in.
40:05Look how clean it is.
40:06Oh, my God.
40:07Oh, my God.
40:08There have been a few changes.
40:10Everyone's actually sitting down.
40:12Can you remember how hard it was to sit down before?
40:15I can't tell you the last time someone sat in this corner of this sofa.
40:18The amount of toys that overwhelmed this room was crazy.
40:22Yeah, it was like an explosion.
40:24So, I've built a massive toy chest.
40:26Is everything in there?
40:27Absolutely everything.
40:28Oh, no way.
40:29That says fit inside.
40:30So, jump up.
40:31Open it.
40:32Have a look.
40:33Okay.
40:34Pull it up.
40:35Oh, my gosh.
40:36Look how organized.
40:37So, now you have a certain storage area where you can put all of your toys.
40:42There's order.
40:43There's actually a living room.
40:44There, exactly.
40:45What do you think about the new color?
40:47I like it.
40:48Yeah, because we had that patch behind the TV that we never managed to cover.
40:53I love it.
40:54It was a team effort picking the right color.
40:56Yeah.
40:57Hopefully, we've picked the right color that you guys all agree with.
40:59Yeah, because we've got a couple of shades of green, so it works.
41:02Exactly.
41:03Have you also noticed how much light is coming into the room now?
41:06I could see it.
41:07Even when we came through there, you could see how much more light there is.
41:09It's amazing.
41:10There was a crazy buildup of toys just in front of the window bay area.
41:14It was just...
41:15It was making the room dark and dingy.
41:17And small.
41:18Exactly.
41:19Yeah.
41:20So, letting in that natural light has transformed this room.
41:22I can't believe that everything is still here, but it's...
41:25Because it's not out, it doesn't feel like it's still here.
41:27Exactly.
41:28Everything now has a home.
41:29Yeah.
41:30So, hopefully, with all of these changes, you can keep your house a home.
41:34Yes.
41:35Nice and organized.
41:36All right, then, guys, I'm going to leave you to enjoy your space.
41:39Thank you so much.
41:40Get comfortable.
41:41Thank you so much.
41:42You've got plenty of toys to play with, but make sure they go back in the box.
41:46All right, Roberto?
41:47Yeah.
41:48Toys go where?
41:49Back in the box.
41:50Back in the box.
41:51Hey!
41:52Oh, my God, I can't.
41:53Thank you so much.
41:55Thank you so much.
41:56Thank you so much.
41:57Okay, then, guys.
41:58See you later.
41:59Bye.
42:00Enjoy your space.
42:02Bye-bye.
42:03I can't believe that everything's still here.
42:05What happened?
42:06Albie's finding toys that he never even thought he had.
42:09Yay!
42:12What a day.
42:14I've never seen so many toys in my life.
42:17But now they have a nice home in the chest.
42:20And toys go where?
42:22Back in the box, Alberto.
42:24Back in the box.
42:26I'm going home.
42:30A few weeks later, how are the family getting on in their new spaces?
42:34Hi!
42:35See, the kids have been doing an amazing job of keeping it really nice and tidy in here.
42:40So much so that they kept begging us for a sleepover.
42:43So, this is them, Saturday morning, and they're still asleep.
42:47Nearly ten o'clock, so I guess the room is working.
43:04I'm going home.
43:05Yay!
43:07Yay!
43:08I'm the young lady at home.
43:09See you later.
43:10I wouldn't miss that.
43:11Bye.
43:12I'll see you later.
43:14See you later.
43:15Bye.
43:17Bye.
43:18Bye.
