00:00Have you got what it takes to make it all the way to our final question and join the 1% Club?
00:17Anyone has a chance to win because this quiz isn't about how much you know, it's about how your brain really works.
00:22As all our questions are about logic and common sense.
00:24So who will make it to the end and answer a question only 1% of the country can get right
00:28and win up to £100,000?
00:32Let's play the 1% Club!
00:37Hope you can win tonight for our 100 players!
00:43Right, come on, give us a cheer tonight if you think you've got what it takes to go all the way to the 1% question.
00:50Lady in front there, what's your name?
00:51I'm Stacey.
00:52Hiya, Stacey. Where are you from?
00:53I'm from Asherton, Northumberland, just north of Newcastle.
00:56OK, and you think you'll do well, why?
00:58Because I'm autistic, I've got a logical brain, I'm a literal thinker.
01:02Do you think autism helps with this?
01:04Yeah, yeah, definitely.
01:05Why is that?
01:06Things just jump out at me.
01:07Like, me?
01:07Not literally, although I am a literal thinker.
01:10OK.
01:10I don't have a filter, so don't take anything to heart.
01:13OK, all right.
01:13I like people like you who haven't got a filter.
01:15You're my perfect sort of person.
01:16If you ask us if you think you're fat, I'll just say it.
01:19I don't think you're fat, by the way.
01:21Sorry, why don't you use that?
01:22Why don't you use that as an example?
01:24Because I can get away with it.
01:27OK, so you think you'll do well?
01:29Now, don't forget, you can play along at home if you want.
01:30All you have to do is download the app.
01:32OK, before we ask our first question, here's a reminder of how the show works.
01:35We asked a cross-section of people from all over Britain a list of our unique questions.
01:41Based on their answers, we can tell statistically what percentage of the country should get each one right.
01:47Tonight, I'll be asking those exact questions to our 100 contestants,
01:51beginning with the easier one that 90% of Britain got right,
01:54and ending with the most challenging question that only 1% of the great British public answered correctly.
02:00At the start of the show, every contestant is given a £1,000 stake.
02:04If they get any question wrong, they are out of the game,
02:06and the £1,000 is transferred to the 1% prize pot.
02:11Whoever gets the furthest in the quiz wins £10,000,
02:14and the chance to answer the final 1% question to win everything in the prize pot,
02:18and take home up to £100,000.
02:23Right, let's get on with it. It's time for our first question.
02:27Now, this is one that 90% of our survey got right. Let's see how you do.
02:30What are there more of in this picture?
02:36Cards or glasses?
02:38And your time starts now.
02:39Okay, your time is up.
03:04Let's see whose lights stay on, and are still in the game, and how many people are out.
03:08OK, we lost five of you, but let's have a look at the answer.
03:27It's A, cards. It's nine versus seven.
03:32Unfortunately, if your lights are off, then you're out of the game,
03:35just like Cynthia Phillips.
03:37Where are you, Cynthia?
03:38Hello, Cynthia.
03:40How are you?
03:41Gutted.
03:42I'm gutted.
03:43What happened?
03:44I put cards to start with.
03:46Yes.
03:47And then I went, I counted the drinking glasses.
03:49Yeah.
03:50And I put glasses.
03:52So, it's still less than the cards.
03:54Yeah, I know.
03:55I'm sorry, Cynthia.
03:57Not half as sorry as I am.
03:59What made you apply, Cynthia?
04:00Well, when I was 50, I had a flying lesson.
04:03Oh, OK.
04:04When I was 60, I'd done an upsell.
04:07OK.
04:07When I was 70, I had my head shaved for charity.
04:11OK.
04:11And now I'm 80, I wanted to come on this game show.
04:16I've got a zip line wire lined up.
04:19And more than that, I wanted to meet you.
04:21Well, that's very nice.
04:25Can I just check there's no connection between the zip line wire and meeting me?
04:29You're not going to just suddenly come at me.
04:32And here I come!
04:34Tricking me with your glasses!
04:36Can we start again?
04:38Can we start again?
04:40No.
04:40All right, there are 95 people still left in the game,
04:44and the £1,000 of everyone who got the question wrong
04:46now goes into the prize pot.
04:48Let's see what that's done to the total.
04:52£5,000!
04:55Right, time for the 80% question.
04:57This is a question that 80% of people we asked in the survey got right.
05:01Let's see how you manage tonight.
05:06Which of these faces is not in the picture?
05:10And your time starts now.
05:15All these people are getting their passport applications rejected.
05:18OK, your time is up.
05:36Let's see who got it right.
05:37Right, we lost two people, though. Let's have a look at the answer.
05:54It's C.
05:57Someone who got that wrong is Joe Lammas.
06:00Unlucky Joe, who did you put?
06:01I put A.
06:03OK.
06:03I just couldn't see it.
06:05It was a tricky one, that.
06:06What do you do, Joe?
06:07I have the best job in the world.
06:08I sell sweets and chocolate.
06:11Do you?
06:11I do.
06:12I want your job.
06:13What kind of chocolates do you sell?
06:15Ah, Snickers, Galaxy, Malteser, Skittles.
06:18What's your favourite?
06:20Maltesers is my favourite.
06:21Really?
06:22I like a Snickers.
06:23Are you a biter or a sucker?
06:27There are two different types of people with Maltesers.
06:30I think I'm a sucker.
06:31Just ignore the fact that everyone made their own joke up.
06:32They'll have a sensible chat about Maltesers.
06:34I think I'm a sucker.
06:35I'm the same.
06:36Oh, yeah?
06:37I love a sucker.
06:38And then when it gets down to that...
06:39When it gets down, just ignore them.
06:41They will go away.
06:41Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
06:42When it goes down to that bit in the middle, yes,
06:44I just take it out of my mouth.
06:45I don't want that bit.
06:47Listen, unlucky Joe.
06:49Right, let's see what that's done to the prize pot.
06:54£7,000.
06:56OK, we are on to the 70% question.
07:00Let's take a look at this one.
07:03What replaces the question mark in this sequence?
07:07And your time starts now.
07:10These first five words are my profile on Tinder.
07:15I say Tinder, I mean Grindr.
07:30OK, your time is up.
07:33Let's see who got it right.
07:34Wow.
07:40There are now more blue people than a Smurf convention.
07:48MUSIC
07:58Wow.
07:59There are now more blue people than a Smurf convention.
08:03We have just lost 21 people.
08:05Let's have a look at the answer.
08:07It is A, big.
08:09The words all have an opposite within the sequence.
08:11Hot, cold, hard, easy.
08:13Big replaces the question mark as the opposite of small.
08:17Someone who didn't get it right is Stephen Moran.
08:20What did you put?
08:21I ran out of time. I didn't put anything.
08:23What do you do, Stephen?
08:24Work for a bank.
08:25But I've had a lot of jobs in the past.
08:27Have you? Like what?
08:28I've previously been a trainee air traffic controller.
08:30They had to let me go.
08:31That's always a worry.
08:33I know.
08:34What do you mean, you had to let you go?
08:36I crashed two planes.
08:37In a simulator.
08:39They don't let you near real planes for, like, three years.
08:42Into each other or separate incidences?
08:44If they get within five miles, you're in trouble.
08:46But I hit them.
08:47They actually made contact in the simulator?
08:49Yeah.
08:50And you got sacked immediately?
08:52Well, yeah.
08:53For good reason.
08:54Yeah, yeah.
08:55I mean, I would say to get two planes to come into contact with each other,
08:57it's almost like you've got to go out of your way to do that.
08:59I couldn't have done it if I tried.
09:00I didn't even notice.
09:01You didn't notice them crashing into each other?
09:02No, because it's not animated with explosions and that.
09:04It's just dots on a screen.
09:06How can you not notice the two dots getting together?
09:08Because they quite often go across one another if they're at different heights.
09:11Right.
09:12It sounds like you don't know what you're talking about, mate.
09:14Yeah.
09:15That's probably why they got rid of you.
09:16Yeah.
09:17Any other jobs?
09:18I've also worked as a royal butler.
09:19Have you?
09:20Yeah.
09:21To which royal?
09:22I shouldn't...
09:23I couldn't say.
09:24You can't say?
09:25No.
09:26Is it one of the main ones?
09:27You definitely know who they are.
09:29And you don't want to say?
09:30Oh, hang on.
09:31If you don't want to say, I think we know which one it is.
09:33He may have had some Brad press.
09:34Well, it's ITV.
09:35Let's keep it light.
09:36Listen, unlucky Stephen, someone with a great name who's out...
09:40Is this a joke name or is this a real name?
09:42Holly Wood.
09:43It's me.
09:44Hi.
09:45Hello, Hollywood.
09:46Hi, I'm gutted.
09:47Are you?
09:48I couldn't figure out what it was, obviously.
09:49Oh, dear.
09:50It's ironic that your name's Hollywood and your name literally isn't in lights anymore.
09:53I know.
09:54I know.
09:55I went on the hunt for a comedy name.
09:57Oh, I see.
09:58So it's not your real name?
09:59No, it is my real name.
10:00No, but, I mean, you chose Wood.
10:02It's not your maiden name.
10:03It's not my maiden name.
10:04I love the idea that you chose your husband based on the funny name.
10:07Absolutely.
10:08Not because of him?
10:09Part of the criteria.
10:10What were you before Holly Wood?
10:11It was Vans on Dirt.
10:12Vans on Dirt?
10:13Yeah.
10:14Vans on Dirt?
10:15Have you found some dirt on that royal we cannot mention?
10:18Never mind.
10:19Thanks for coming along.
10:20Let's see what that's done to the prize pot.
10:25£28,000.
10:26OK, it's time for the 60% question.
10:29Let's take a look.
10:30Which of the words below is the only one that doesn't do the following?
10:40Make a four-letter word if you remove the first letter,
10:43and make a three-letter word if you remove the new first letter.
10:47OK, your time starts now.
10:49Now, look.
10:50We've got a two-letter word if you let it mark.
10:51Let's take a look.
10:52Let's take a look.
10:53We need to take two letters to the new first letter.
10:54We've got a two-letter word, which is a Now.
10:56OK, your time is up. Let's see who got it right.
11:26Right, we lost five people, though. Let's have a look at the answer.
11:44It's D, pinch, inch, but that does not make a third word.
11:47Somebody who got it wrong is Caroline Goodall.
11:50Yeah. What did you put, Caroline?
11:52So I put B, then I changed it to C, and then at the last minute I realised it was D.
11:58OK. What was wrong with A?
11:59Yeah.
12:01What do you do, Caroline?
12:03So I work on the railway. I've been on the railway for 25 years.
12:06I do, like, the first-class service.
12:08Do you? Yeah, we get all the famous people.
12:10Oh, like who?
12:11I once shared a chocolate bar with a very famous footballer.
12:15I'm not sure if I can say the name, because I work on the railway name.
12:18Was it one of those difficult-to-pronounce Spanish names?
12:20Well, he's kind of a customer.
12:22Oh, he's a famous footballer, but you don't want to mention him?
12:24No, I don't want to mention him, because he's one of our customers.
12:26Not a member of the royal family, is he?
12:27Because we don't want to mention him either, do we?
12:29No.
12:29But he's one of your regular customers on the train,
12:32and you don't think it's right to mention him?
12:33No. I'll probably be able to work it out.
12:34You tell me the type of chocolate.
12:35And it was the dairy milk.
12:37Ah, David Beckham.
12:38I couldn't say.
12:40Is it David Beckham?
12:41I couldn't say.
12:43Oh, my gosh, it's David Beckham!
12:45He ate half of it.
12:47So, he ate half of it.
12:48He's left the other half.
12:49The cleaner was going to get rid of it, and I was like, well...
12:51LAUGHTER
12:53Well, this is my, like, little claim to fame.
12:56I'm not eating it.
12:58We were imagining a story where he's gone,
13:01Hello, Caroline, do you want to come and speak with me?
13:04And you sat with him, hey, you look like a nice dad,
13:06do you want half my chocolate bar?
13:08And it's all lovely, and he's broken half off.
13:10The reality is, you never spoke to him, he left it on the table,
13:13and you stopped the cleaner putting it in the bin.
13:17So, well done, Caroline.
13:18Let's see what that's done to the prize pot.
13:23£33,000.
13:25So, it's time for a quick break.
13:27We've lost 33 people here already.
13:29Hope you're doing OK at home.
13:30And don't forget, we've got an app you can download
13:32for people who'd find watching TV on its own
13:34just a bit too old-fashioned.
13:36After the break, we'll be moving closer
13:37to seeing if anyone here can answer the 1% question.
13:40See you in a bit.
13:41CHEERING AND APPLAUSE
13:52Welcome back to The 1% Club.
13:53We started off with 100 people and are now down to 67.
13:56The person who does best here tonight could be going home
13:58with up to £100,000.
14:03So, well done to everyone who's still in the game.
14:05And from now on, we are going to give you the option
14:07to pay for a pass to the next question.
14:09And if you do, your £1,000 will be transferred to the prize pot.
14:12However, if you get as far as the 30% question
14:15without using your pass, you'll get the chance
14:17to take your £1,000 and leave the game.
14:19Right, it's time for the 50% question.
14:22Let's take a look.
14:27Joy wants to make friendship bracelets using her alphabet beads
14:31for her pals Leon, Cora, Sita and Nate.
14:35But she only has the beads to make three of them.
14:38Which friend will not get a bracelet?
14:41OK, your 30 seconds starts now.
14:43MUSIC PLAYS
14:52OK, your time is up. Let's see who got it right.
15:16Right, we lost one person. Let's have a look at the answer.
15:33It is Cora. There is no RBs.
15:36Now, there are five of you that also didn't know it,
15:39but they used their pass. Richard Bounds. Where are you, Richard?
15:42Haley. You didn't have a clue?
15:43I thought it was, like, there was enough letters for all of them,
15:46but you had to kind of work out if you made these.
15:49I don't know. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
15:50Now, it's not one you can double-check as well.
15:52No, I know. What do you do, Richard?
15:54I'm a sort of management consultant.
15:56Not a management consultant? Sort of a management consultant.
15:58Why sort of? I'm like a management consultant.
16:01Why are you not a management consultant?
16:02I suppose I am a management consultant.
16:05You're a management consultant, are you? I guess so.
16:07I think I can see why you struggle with this. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
16:09You had too many letters, but they don't need to be there.
16:12Yes, correct. What do you do in your spare time?
16:14I like to spot clouds.
16:16What, like spotting clouds? No, I do like to spot clouds.
16:20Oh, you like to spot. It's not like spotting clouds.
16:22No. Right.
16:23Because I don't particularly enjoy doing that,
16:25but I spot clouds as well all the time.
16:26Yeah. What's the difference between me and going,
16:28it's cloudy, and you?
16:29I'm the fifth best cloud spotter in the world, so...
16:32You are not. Yes, I am.
16:34Bigot.
16:35It's just a fact.
16:37First of all, how do you know that? Why the fifth?
16:40Because there's an app you can, like, spot clouds and submit them,
16:43and there's a lead table, and I'm the fifth best at spotting them.
16:48How many different types of clouds are there?
16:49Er...
16:51I mean, you should know this. You're the fifth best in the world.
16:53Yeah. If you don't know it,
16:54there's only other four people in the whole world that will.
16:57Well, it depends whether you're including optical phenomena.
16:59You know damn well I was including optical phenomena.
17:02I know. All right. So, about 40.
17:04About 40. 40 different types of cloud.
17:06Er, what is your favourite cloud?
17:09Well, it'd be a lenticularis.
17:11Oh, I love them.
17:12That's what everyone says, isn't it?
17:13Hang on. Are they the big, white, fluffy ones?
17:15Er...
17:15Oh, no, I'm thinking of all clouds.
17:19Listen, well done. You're still with us.
17:21Let's see what that's done to the prize pot.
17:25£39,000.
17:27OK, it's time for the 45% question.
17:33Let's take a look.
17:36One of these clocks is ten minutes fast.
17:38One is five minutes slow.
17:40One is five minutes fast.
17:42And one shows the right time.
17:44Which clock shows the right time?
17:47Your time starts now.
17:57OK, your time is up.
18:06Let's see whose lights are still on.
18:08OK, your time is up.
18:18Let's see whose lights are still on.
18:20Right, we've lost six people.
18:23Let's have a look at the answer.
18:23It is B, 11.45.
18:26The slowest clock is the one with the earliest time.
18:28So the clock showing 11.40 is five minutes slow.
18:30The correct time is, therefore, 11.45.
18:32Someone who got out of the clock is the one with the earliest time.
18:34So the clock showing 11.40 is five minutes slow.
18:36The correct time is, therefore, 11.45.
18:38Someone who got that wrong is Sheldon Brito.
18:42Hello, Sheldon.
18:43Hiya.
18:44How are you?
18:44Good, thank you. You?
18:45Yeah, I'm all right, thank you.
18:47What did you put?
18:48I put A.
18:49You put 11.40, which is the slowest time.
18:53I know.
18:54But, you know, that's, you know, this is the slowest time.
18:58But, you know, that's, you know.
19:00This is the slowest time, which is the slowest time.
19:03And so, you know, I don't know.
19:05But, you know, that's, you know, this is the slowest time.
19:06But, you know, you know,
19:07There's some logic to it. Yeah. Yeah. What do you do, Sheldon?
19:10I work with Walker's Crisps in R&D, which is research and development.
19:14Do you get loads of free ones? We do sometimes.
19:17What's your favourite flavour? All the flavours are beautiful.
19:20All right, mate. Have a day off.
19:23But seriously, what's your favourite flavour?
19:25Sensation, the wasabi and ginger flavour.
19:28All right. That clearly sounds like a marketing man who's struggling to sell them
19:31and he's trying to big them up. It's a bit like they say which child you prefer.
19:35You always say the one you like the least, don't you? Yeah.
19:36You do? No, I don't.
19:39What would you have done with the money?
19:40I would like to learn scuba diving in Mexico.
19:43Oh. Yep. Oh, very nice.
19:45Can you still do that, do you think?
19:47If I can afford. Okay. All right.
19:50Well, listen, well done, Sheldon, for getting this far.
19:53Someone else who got it wrong is Liv Kennedy.
19:55Hello, Liv. What did you put? I put C.
19:58You put 11.50. Did you have any logic?
20:00I did. The C for me was the one...
20:03It could have been all of the above that was listed.
20:06Not the right time. It was all of them.
20:09So it was... Could have been ten minutes fast compared to 11.40.
20:12Five minutes slow and five minutes fast compared to the other two.
20:14Oh, I see. It's just stupid and I didn't read it.
20:16No, it's not actually. At least there's a logic to that.
20:18I get that. I know. I'll take that.
20:20Okay. Well done. Well done for having some logic.
20:22I haven't won anything, though, so it doesn't really matter, does it?
20:24Hey, you've won the hearts of the nation.
20:27God, I'm smooth.
20:29Sorry to ask, Liv.
20:30I have to ask, what would you have done with the money?
20:31Funnily enough, the 1,000.
20:33I would have bought myself a year supply of crisps.
20:36Would you say a couple of bags of crisps a day?
20:38Yeah, yeah, yeah. Easy.
20:39Wouldn't it be a lovely thing if the guy from Walkers
20:42agreed to get you 750 packets of crisps?
20:44That's not possible.
20:45It's not possible?
20:47That's a shame because it's written down here
20:49that Liv is actually a scuba diving instructor in Mexico.
20:52LAUGHTER
20:53That's a shame, mate. You blew that, didn't you?
20:57Never mind.
20:59Unlucky, Liv.
21:00Okay, let's see what that's done to the prize pot.
21:06£57,000.
21:08Okay, it's time for the 40% question.
21:12Let's take a look at this one.
21:15The censors have redacted some of the question below.
21:19To take out anything they considered too rude.
21:22From the bits of the question you can see,
21:24what is the answer?
21:26Okay, your time starts now.
21:28MUSIC PLAYS
21:29MUSIC PLAYS
21:48MUSIC PLAYS
21:50OK, your time is up. Let's see who got it right.
22:20OK, we lost 15 people. Let's have a look at the answer.
22:25It's A, the name of which album and...
22:29Well, I won't read those words out, that's why they've redacted them.
22:31Now, on this question, a massive 24 people use their pass,
22:35including Philip Taborer. Hello, Philip.
22:38You all right? You didn't have a clue or you just weren't sure enough?
22:42I thought it was water. OK, why? I can't remember.
22:46Oh. Well, it was such a long time ago. Yeah.
22:49And then I thought I'd pass. Fair enough. It's safer to pass.
22:52That's what it's for, Philip. Yes.
22:54Any hobbies, Philip? Yes, I like feeding the ducks.
22:59I love ducks. Do you? Big duck fan. Are you? Yeah.
23:03I collect them. You know them little rubber ducks that you get?
23:06How many have you got in total? Over 200. 200? Where do they live?
23:10On windowsills, in drawers, on top of drawers.
23:13I'm getting a real picture of your life. Oh, yeah.
23:16It's quite disturbing. Yeah.
23:18I brought one with me today as well, special one.
23:20Did you? It was meant to bring me luck.
23:22Why is this one so special?
23:23Because I called him Lee Quack.
23:26Nice. There he is, look.
23:33He's been scuba diving in Mexico. I was going to say,
23:34are you just mocking the man who can't go scuba diving?
23:37What do your friends think of your obsession with ducks?
23:40They think I'm quackers.
23:42Is that what all this was leading to?
23:44Yes.
23:46Welcome to my world.
23:48Well done, Philip. You're still with us.
23:50Let's see what that's done to the prize pot.
23:5485,000 pounds.
23:58Right, let's move on to the 35% question.
24:02Here it is.
24:03What five-letter word can be formed by following all the advice below?
24:09OK, you have 30 seconds and your time starts now.
24:12High five-letter audience.
24:34All right, here I am.
24:37All right.
24:38Hi.
24:39All right.
24:40All right.
24:41OK, your time is up. Let's see if you've got it right and how many people are out.
25:06Right, we lost 12 people. Let's have a look at the answer.
25:09It's crowd. And annoyingly, it's a picture of a crowd behind, which I haven't just spotted.
25:15Somebody who got it wrong is Lee Parkinson. Lee, where are you? Hello.
25:19What did you put? I think I put cells. I was trying to make three, five-letter words out of the rest of the...
25:24Yeah. I think it's a tricky one, this. What do you do, Lee? Present bullseye?
25:28No. No. But I do get told I do look like Jim Bowen. Do you? Yeah.
25:33Have you been told that before? Yes, many times. Ah, that's smashing. Great, super.
25:37But what, you could have won. Yeah, what you could have won. 97 grand.
25:43Unlucky Lee. Let's see what that's done to the prize pot.
25:48OK, we're already on £89,000. Time for a quick break.
25:52Well done to everyone still in the game. We'll see you in a bit when someone here can win up to £100,000.
25:57APPLAUSE
25:58Welcome back to the 1% Club. We've been asking questions which have been tested out on a cross-section of the British public.
26:13We've been whittling down the contestants here tonight and are left with 33 people with their lights still on.
26:19As a reward, any contestant who hasn't played their pass and still has their £1,000 now has a choice.
26:24Play on for the big money in the prize pot or you can take your £1,000 and leave the quiz right now.
26:29So first of all, let's see which players still have their £1,000.
26:32So, those of you with your lights on, you can take your money and leave the show if you want.
26:37Please make your decision now.
26:52Right, three of you have decided to take your £1,000 and leave the game, including Bryony Chung.
26:57Where are you, Bryony? Yeah.
26:59Didn't fancy your chances of the big money? No.
27:01I'm surprised I got this far and I'm scared now.
27:04I was scared the whole time but I'm really scared now.
27:06Because you're waiting to see what the answer is? Yeah, exactly.
27:09What are you going to do with your £1,000?
27:11So, I've always had a phobia of fruit.
27:14What do you mean, a phobia of fruit?
27:16You know how people have a phobia of spiders?
27:18Like, if a spider comes towards them, they'll scream and run away.
27:21Yeah, those things that can bite you and potentially kill you.
27:23No, but I do that with fruit, so if anyone's eating a piece of fruit near me, I'll walk away.
27:28Or if, like, you open a bin and it smells of fruit, I'll literally gag, sometimes I'll throw up.
27:32When I was little, my brother used to chase me round the house with a banana and I'd cry.
27:36So, I'd get hypnosis to try and get rid of that phobia.
27:40Right. I mean, I was hoping you'd say something like,
27:42Disneyland, it's turned out to be a therapy session.
27:45OK, well, listen, you've got £1,000. Well done.
27:48And well done to everyone else who's got their £1,000.
27:51APPLAUSE
27:53So, the rest of you have decided to play on.
27:55Let's see if that gamble will pay off and if any of you can go all the way and join the 1% Club.
27:59OK, it's time for the 30% question.
28:03Here it is.
28:04How many complete pairs of shoes are in this picture?
28:09And your time starts now.
28:11MUSIC
28:32MUSIC
28:37MUSIC
28:39OK, your time is up. Let's see who got it right.
29:01Right, we lost four people there. Let's have a look at the answer.
29:04It's two, and there they are.
29:06So we have lost Andrew Bottomley. Where are you, Andrew?
29:09Here, Lee. Are you at the top?
29:11No, down the bottom. Oh, no, you're at the Bottomley.
29:13I thought that was worth more.
29:16What did you put? Put three.
29:18Why did you put three?
29:20I counted one set of shoes that I thought came to five
29:23and took it away from eight and thought,
29:25well, the three must be what's left as pairs.
29:29That is literally the way to do it, isn't it?
29:31That is the logical way.
29:33So as a lady here saying something interesting, what did you say?
29:35I didn't even see the eight shoes.
29:37Well, how many shoes did you think there were?
29:38Oh, I don't know. Didn't really count them.
29:40I've seen the two pairs. Counting them is quite important to the question.
29:44I'm already out.
29:44Where did you go out on?
29:46Seventy. Seventy?
29:47Yeah. That surprises me.
29:49Yeah.
29:50I've got them all right. I don't think you know what I mean.
29:53OK, listen, you've got them right since.
29:56Yeah, every single one of them, even that one.
29:58All the way, since 17, you've got every one of them right.
29:59Yeah.
30:00That is...
30:01So, that is brilliant, I meant to say.
30:05But you got this one right as well.
30:06Yeah.
30:07You got it right, even though you didn't count...
30:08Well, yeah, but you know the way there's a left and a right shoe?
30:11Right, that's how it looked originally.
30:12Yeah.
30:13And there's only two pairs.
30:15Well, we know that now.
30:16Yes.
30:17Right, OK, so on the top row...
30:19You're very full of yourself, Mrs. 70%.
30:21So, on the top row, the third and the fourth one, that's a pair.
30:25Yes.
30:26On the bottom row, the two middle ones, that's a pair.
30:27Yeah.
30:28So, none of the other ones could have been a pair.
30:30Ah, because you're literally seeing them together.
30:32Yeah.
30:33To be fair, she is right.
30:34Yeah.
30:36APPLAUSE
30:38Can I get my life back on?
30:40No.
30:41Unlucky, Andrew.
30:43So, let's have a look what that's done to the prize pot.
30:45It's done nothing. £89,000.
30:48The people that were out had already used their pass.
30:50APPLAUSE
30:51OK, we are at a 25% stage now.
30:56Here's the question.
30:59Someone has swapped teacups one and nine on this shop display.
31:03If they are swapped back, how many times in total
31:07can the word T be read horizontally, vertically or diagonally
31:11in any direction?
31:14The time starts now.
31:20OK, your time is up.
31:21Let's see you've got it right.
31:23OK, your time is up.
31:24Let's see you've got it right.
31:24OK, your time is up.
31:25Let's see you've got it right.
31:26OK, your time is up.
31:27Let's see you've got it right.
31:28OK, your time is up.
31:29Let's see you've got it right.
31:30OK, your time is up.
31:31Let's see you've got it right.
31:32OK, your time is up.
31:33Let's see you've got it right.
31:35OK, your time is up.
31:46OK, your time is up.
31:47Let's see you've got it right.
31:48Let's see you've got it right.
32:06Right, we lost six people there.
32:07Let's have a look at the answer.
32:09It's five.
32:10There they are.
32:12OK, so we have lost Roche Bale's Gunga Bissoon.
32:16Hello.
32:17What did you put?
32:18I put four.
32:18Oh, you just missed one.
32:19Which one did you miss?
32:20The fifth one.
32:21LAUGHTER
32:23Very good.
32:28With which one on the diagram?
32:30Sorry, mate, sorry.
32:31The bottom left going upwards diagonally.
32:34So the bottom left to top right?
32:36Yeah, that's the one.
32:36OK.
32:37What do you do, Roche?
32:38I think I'm being a bit of a smart-ass.
32:41I work in food, actually, in quality.
32:43So I've actually worked at walkers.
32:44Are you working at walkers?
32:45They're getting a lot of plugs tonight, aren't they?
32:47Yes.
32:48Can you give this lady some free crisps?
32:50Well, I can't, actually.
32:50But I can't...
32:52They keep putting them in your face and then pulling them away,
32:54don't they?
32:55What do you do now?
32:56Well, I work in vitamins and pharmaceutical.
32:59You've finally realised it's not good for you, all this stuff.
33:01And now you're in vitamins.
33:02I know, well, you've got to try something different.
33:04Yeah, yeah.
33:05What do you think about people that don't eat fruit?
33:06Do you think they need vitamins?
33:08Yeah, I can do you a deal if you want.
33:10Please don't deal in pharmaceuticals live on television.
33:12No, of course not.
33:13Of course not.
33:14OK, let's see what that's done to the prize pot.
33:20£90,000.
33:21CHEERING AND APPLAUSE
33:24Right.
33:25We've got 20 people still in the game,
33:26and we're down to the 20 per cent question now.
33:33Which of these options is the only one
33:36that does not have a pair?
33:39The time starts now.
33:41The time-cattleacionalisation
33:43With you they'll draw round one
33:43for one Wednesday.
33:45This has been on December 20th
33:46has gone up in January.
33:47koń want you to do your yourself,
33:50and it won't be up here.

34:10OK, time is up. Let's see if we've got it right.
34:33We've lost 11 people on that one. Let's have a look at the answer.
34:36It's B cricket. We have pool, pool, bowls, bowls, squash, squash.
34:41Someone who got it right is Lisa Horsburgh.
34:44Hello, Lisa. Hello. How are you? Good, thank you.
34:47Well done. Thank you. Did you think you were going to get this far?
34:50No. And what would you have done with the money if you'd have won?
34:53Sorry, what will you do with the money if you won?
34:55For the sake of the chance.
34:59I do all the DIY in my house.
35:01My, well, husband, I just got married last week.
35:04So first I said that out loud.
35:06Did you? Congratulations.
35:09My husband doesn't do the DIY.
35:11But if I just win 1,000, well, whatever.
35:13If I win the 10,000, I would just buy a load of DIY tools.
35:16Oh, OK. Does he know this? Is he willing to give up his...?
35:19It's not his money. Oh, married now, so I guess it is.
35:22Oh, hello. It started early, hasn't it?
35:25Listen, well done, Lisa, for getting this far.
35:27Thank you. Someone else who's still with us is Connor Taylor.
35:29Where are you, Connor? I'm here, Lee. Hello. Hello, Connor.
35:32What do you do? Currently work in IT, but I used to work for...
35:36I used to work as a barista as well.
35:38That's probably what I spent most of my time doing.
35:40OK. Yeah.
35:41Took part in a few competitions as well.
35:42So I entered, like, a global barista competition.
35:45I mean, that is brilliant, but how can you do it as a competition?
35:49Isn't it like, I'll have a coffee with some milk in, please?
35:51Well, there you go. Gold medal.
35:53Yeah. Well, you've got all, like, the fancy art and stuff.
35:56Oh, do you do the art? Yeah, yeah, yeah.
35:57Have you seen the one where they can print your face on it?
35:59I have. It's freaky, though. I don't think I'd ever do that.
36:02I like the idea of just my face and there's someone just licking my face
36:05before they drink the coffee.
36:06I don't like that idea at all.
36:07What's wrong with my face?
36:09Well, it's more of someone licking my face, I think.
36:11Oh, it's my face. I was talking about my face.
36:13I would buy one of those coffees, I think. Thank you.
36:15Yeah, that's fine. Would you lick my face?
36:16Well, yeah, now I know you like it.
36:18I feel like it's not so much the quiz show, which we're at speed dated.
36:21Have you still got a pass?
36:23I do, I still have my pass.
36:25Well done. You must be one of the favourites now.
36:27Right, let's see what that's done to the prize pot.
36:32£92,000.
36:34Right, we're getting close to the end.
36:36It's now time for the 15% question.
36:41Let's take a look at this one.
36:43How many full letter words can be found in a straight line of boxes
36:47in any direction, either horizontally or vertically in this grid?
36:52And the time starts now.
37:13OK, your time is up. Let's see whose lights are still on.
37:27.
37:46Wow, we lost seven of you on that one.
37:47Let's have a look at the answer.
37:49There it is.
37:50Full, moon, pool, loop and scent.
37:53That means that we've actually only got two people left in the quiz.
37:58One of them is Lisa Horsburgh and the other one is Zach Pabani.
38:02Where are you, Zach?
38:09Zach, did you think that you were going to be one of the last two players?
38:12No, not at all.
38:14And what are you going to do with all this money if you win it?
38:16Well, the first thing I'd do is go and buy a pair of trainers.
38:20What, with £100,000?
38:21Yeah.
38:22To make it justifiable, the trainers that I want are £3,700.
38:26You're going to spend £3,700 a pair of trainers?
38:29Yeah.
38:30It's moments like this when I wish the woman who wanted a year's supply
38:32Chris won.
38:34Do you collect trainers?
38:35Yeah, a little bit, yeah.
38:37How many have you got?
38:38Over 30.
38:39And how many of them do you wear?
38:40Three.
38:41And what do you do with the other 27?
38:43Look at them.
38:44You look at your trainers like a piece of art?
38:46Yeah, they're all in clear boxes in my house.
38:48OK.
38:49What's your most expensive pair of sofa?
38:51A pair of Louis Vuitton grey trainers.
38:54But the ones that I want are blue Swarovski encrusted Louis Vuitton trainers.
38:58OK.
38:59Listen, Zach, you are one of only two people left in the show,
39:03but you're in a very strong position because you have a pass.
39:06Which means...
39:08Which means that Lisa, who hasn't got a pass, if he uses the pass next time,
39:15you have to get it right.
39:16So no pressure.
39:18OK.
39:19Well done, Lisa.
39:20Well done, Zach.
39:21You are down to the final two.
39:22Let's see what that's done to the prize pot.
39:24And £96,000.
39:29So we're down to our last two players.
39:32After the break, we'll find out which of our remaining contestants
39:35could go on to play the 1% question.
39:37See you in a bit.
39:38Welcome back to the 1% Club.
39:50We are very nearly at the point where we will discover who our winner will be.
39:53Now, here's how the end of the game works.
39:55Whoever does the best here tonight will win £10,000.
39:58But if they're feeling brave, they can risk their £10,000
40:01by trying to answer the 1% question.
40:04Get it right and they will win everything in the prize pot,
40:07which is currently sitting at...
40:11£96,000.
40:12So we do only have two people left,
40:17Lisa Horsfura and Zach Pabani.
40:19And remember, Zach, because you still have your £1,000,
40:22you can pay for a pass, but you can't use it on the 1% question.
40:26But if you've still got it at the 1% question,
40:28you're guaranteed to keep that 1,000 no matter what happens.
40:31Right.
40:32So only two people left in the quiz
40:34and it's now time for the 10% question.
40:36Here it is.
40:42If you start with a number in the caterpillar's head
40:45and alternately add and subtract each number in turn
40:49as you move along the body,
40:51what number will you have at the end?
40:53And your time starts now.
40:58Let's go.
40:59Let's go.
41:00Let's go.
41:01Let's go.
41:02Let's go.
41:03OK, your time is up. Let's see who got it right.
41:33Right, we lost one person. Let's have a look at the answer.
41:50It's 14, and there are the maths. Unlucky, Lisa, you put 15.
