00:00Welcome to the video from the Car Magazine Tuning Blog.
00:03Today we're talking about the new BMW R1300R,
00:08the surprisingly sporty boxer roadster that's causing a stir not only with its design,
00:12but also with its technology and performance.
00:16Even before the official presentation date on April 10, 2025,
00:21it was leaked that production of BMW's new naked bike was scheduled to start in April.
00:25Initial technical details were also revealed before a teaser image on April 3 increased the
00:32excitement. With the new R1300R, BMW is bringing a motorcycle onto the market that is much more
00:38closely related to the R1300GS than its predecessor, the R52R. And it's sportier than many would have
00:47expected. BMW itself calls it a dynamic roadster with a boxer engine, and that's exactly right.
00:54The two-cylinder boxer engine generates an impressive 145 horsepower at 7,750 revolutions
01:02per minute from its 300cc displacement. Maximum torque is 149 Nm at 6,500 revolutions per minute.
01:11Thanks to the two-stage shift cam cam control, the engine transfers its power to the road
01:16particularly efficiently. A top speed of 240 kilometers per hour is more than impressive
01:23for a naked motorcycle. As with the GS, two-side mounted radiators ensure thermal stability of
01:31the engine in addition to airflow cooling. Unlike the GS, BMW has dispensed with the telelever on the
01:38new R1300R for reasons of space and reason, opting instead for a robust upside-down telescopic fork with
01:46a 47 mm stanchion diameter. At the rear, the tried and tested parallel swingarm with central spring
01:53strut and integrated shaft drive remains. Now in the further developed EVO peril version with a
01:59continuous swingarm axle. As with the GS, the frame is no longer made of tubular steel,
02:05but of profiled steel and is combined with a bolt-on cast aluminum rear section.
02:12The new cast aluminum wheels save around 1.4 kilograms in crucial areas,
02:17which should have a positive effect on handling, acceleration, and braking.
02:23The rear tire is slightly wider than before. Nevertheless, the total weight of the motorcycle
02:28with the basic equipment and an aluminum tank filled to 90% remains at 239 kilogram.
02:34The permissible total weight is 460 kilogram. The wheelbase is 0.5 meters, the trail is 12.7 centimeters,
02:43and the steering head angle is 62.5 degrees. There is 14 centimeters of suspension travel at the front
02:50and 13 centimeters at the rear. The seat height is 81 centimeters as standard, but can be reduced to
02:5779 centimeters with various seat options. Seat heating is also available as an option.
03:04In terms of equipment, BMW is setting new standards with the Air 300.
03:09Abs and lean angle sensitive DTC traction control are standard. As is the fully networked TFT display
03:16with USB port and 12-volt socket. The remote key system is also included for the first time.
03:22Hill start assist and the dynamic AUSER electronic suspension are standard equipment.
03:29Now available as an option for the first time is the dynamic suspension adjustment system,
03:34which not only automatically regulates damping and spring preload,
03:38but also takes the load condition and spring rate into account for greater ride comfort and lean angle.
03:43BMW also offers enhanced traction control functions, which, according to the manufacturer,
03:51can even influence the length of the black lines when accelerating out of corners.
03:57Other optional equipment includes heated grips and seats, a tire pressure monitoring system,
04:03adaptive headlights, and the riding assistant with active cruise control and forward collision warning.
04:08Those looking for a particularly sporty ride can opt for the optional sports suspension and sports brakes.
04:15The optional panniers now feature an electric locking system, LED interior lighting, and USB-C ports.
04:23Also available as accessories are a center stand and an M lightweight battery,
04:27which saves around 2 kilograms in weight.
04:30For particularly comfortable gear shifting,
04:33the automated gear shift assistant A is now available alongside the well-known gear shift assistant Pro.
04:40This allows either partially or fully automated shifting of the 6 gears without any clutch operation,
04:46as the left hand lever is eliminated.
04:50The market launch.
