00:00A fully automated electric bus has been approved for real road traffic for the first time in Germany.
00:08The Federal Motor Transport Authority has granted the US company ADA Tech permission to test its SAE Level 4-based software for autonomous driving in public transport.
00:20This is an important step towards fully autonomous public transport.
00:24The approval is based on a special regulation that permits the operation of motor vehicles with autonomous driving functions in precisely defined areas.
00:36Under certain conditions, REVIL 4 vehicles are capable of driving independently without human intervention.
00:44This achieves a very high level of automation, which would theoretically even make it possible to fall asleep at the wheel, as the system takes complete control.
00:54Up to now, only the Level 3 systems from BMW and Mercedes-Benz have been considered leading in Europe.
01:02These allow drivers to temporarily give up their attention, but only under clearly defined circumstances.
01:10Adastacek is using its autonomous bus as part of the Allbus project in the lower Saxony town of Bergdorf near Hanover.
01:16The town has around 17,000 inhabitants.
01:20The autonomous E-Attack model from the Turkish manufacturer Kassan is used.
01:24The buses are equipped with sensors and the Fluoride software platform is standard.
01:32The system uses a variety of sensors, including loaders, radar, ultrasound and infrared sensors,
01:38and uses satellite navigation systems such as GPS and Galileo for precise positioning.
01:43The autonomous bus is currently completing a monitored test phase on a route of around 7 km in Bergdorf.
01:51A registered user group is driving along, accompanied by the project participants.
01:57This allows the system, which has already been used 12 times worldwide, to be tested under real conditions.
02:03The vehicle operated by Regiobis is capable of mastering complex traffic situations, such as roundabouts, traffic lights, zebra crossings and parking and reversing at speeds of up to 40 km per hour in scheduled service.
02:19In addition to the Hanover region, the project partners include the Austria Public Transport Company, the Stoyeren, Lenken, Bowen Company, Ruprecht Consult, and the Institute for Transport and Urban Development at the Technical University of Braunschweig.
02:35The test route includes 13 bus stops and runs across 10 intersections.
02:41The Fluoride software is intended to enable confident navigation even in heavy traffic, including lateral and parallel parking.
02:48The project is funded by the Federal Ministry of Transport.
02:55After completion of the current test phase, the collected data and feedback on user experience, ride comfort, and accessibility are to be evaluated.
03:03In a second phase, if further approvals, in particular the full-type approval for SA Level 4, are granted, the regular use of the bus is planned in parallel to the existing bus route 9 Hood 6.
03:18In addition, an expansion to other routes is planned as part of the regional transport strategy.
03:23Tei Braunschweig plans to integrate the acquired driving data into its traffic simulations in order to gain important insights into the future integration of autonomous vehicles into everyday life.
03:53I'm making a new plan in my life, and I won't look back if you are me, you, that you never see me agitated.
04:14I think about my value, that's how I end up on the top, man, I'm calculated, my mind a weapon, my body is the engine, never second-guessing.
04:20I just do what I was guessing, I feel like, bless you, how you don't change, I am making a new plan in my life, and I won't look back ever again.
04:42You can't stop what's moving.
04:45You can't stop what's moving.
04:50Change my life, and I won't look back again.
04:54No clear you dare be great.
04:57I know it feels like things get in your way.
05:00Push through those walls and the others will fall.
05:03Sit up, stand tall.
05:04You can get through it all.
05:06I need some energy, no friend me.
05:08I have a short memory.
05:10I don't really remember things.
05:12That's how I move on.
05:13That's how I stay strong.
05:15A new day on.
05:16I'll keep moving right along.
05:18And I feel like the pain and the need to stay in the you-got-take-off.
05:27I won't feel like I'm a new person.
05:28I would have clear vision.
05:30And I feel like the paw.
05:31If you can move on the things that make you feel bad, you can change in your brain.
05:34Move the path.
05:35Things that make you feel better.
05:38I've certainly done it before, and man, I'm not perfect.
05:42I'm changing who I am.
05:47I'm making a new plan.
05:51Rearranging my life, and I won't look back again.
05:53Rearranging my life, and I'm gonna see you on the list.
